We have purchased 150 points at SSR. I know that in about 3 years we will add on because we will need more points. We just did 150 now because that's what we were able to afford. Anyway, I have a question about borrowing points. Can I borrow every year? Is there a limit to borrowing? Here's an example: We have all 150 points being used in 2005. If I wanted to borrow, let's say 50 points from 2006 for 2005, then I would have 100 points left for 2006. Can I then borrow from 2007 points for more for 2006?
TIA

you can only borrow a year in advance so for your 2005 reservations (after your use year) you can borrow 2006.

so for your 2006 reservations (after your use year) you can borrow 2007.

So as long as I have already used the points for that current year and want to borrow from the next year that's OK? Why am I so confused???!!!
Anyone borrow all the time?

Yep, I'm in a constant state of borrowing, I guess I need mre points, but at 425, the maintenance fees are killing me!!!!! Anyway, you can do exactly what you propose. You can use all 150 current points for 2005 and borrow 50 from 2006 for your 2005 vacation. You'd be left with 100 points in your 2006 use year. For your 2006 vacation, you'd need to borrow 100 points from your 2007 allocation to get the same 200 points for the 2006 vacation. If you haven't added on yet, you'll have 50 points left in your 2007 allocation, and if you still want the 200 point vacation, can borrow all of the 2008 allocation in 2007 to leave you with no points left in 2008. You can be in a constant state of borrowing, we have been since 2002, with now 3 add-ons!!! But as I've said, we've reached our limit for maintenance fees, so we're done for at least a couple of years.

You need to look at the date of your stay vs your use year to determine which points can be borrowed for a specific stay. For example, say you have an April use year.

Your 2004 points would be for stays from 4/1/04 to 3/31/05
Your 2005 points would be for stays from 4/1/05 to 3/31/06
Your 2006 points would be for stays from 4/1/06 to 3/31/07
Your 2007 points would be for stays from 4/1/07 to 3/31/08

You can borrow a use year ahead. For a May 2005 stay, you could borrow 2006 points. However, for a March 2005 stay, you could only borrow from 2005 because your date of stay is in your 2004 use year.

I have my own question about borrowing points. Here is my scenerio.
I plan on using banked, current and borrowed points for my Dec '05 vacation (I have an Aug use year). We will be staying in a GV. My original plan was to stay the entire time at SSR which is my home resort. Now I am considering staying the majority of my days at OKW and a couple days at SSR. I am going to book at my 11 month window and then try to transfer the days to OKW at the 7 month window.

My question is this. What happens to the borrowed points that are freed up? Can I bank them or do they have to be used by end of my use year?

When you borrow points, it is a final transaction, but there is a way for you to bank points. When you make the ressie at 11 months, you'll borrow the points you need for the SSR reservation. At 7 months, if the OWK GV is available, you'll cancel some of your SSR reservation, and use some of those points for the OWK reservation. Tell MS, you want them to use the banked and borrowed points first, leaving any unused points to be current year points. Those current year points can then be banked into your next use year, which will of course expire at the end of that use year.
