Question about booking?

My question is if I book our hotel through another site other then Disney such as Hotels.com will we get our magic bands? I was going through the online booking process and it wasn't asking me the names and ages of my kids or anyone else in the party so how will they know about the bands?

Yes you will get Magic Bands. Once you link your reservation to your MDE account, you will customize each Magic Band for each person in your family.
