Question about booking two rooms

I am sure this has been asked before but because I have never done it I want to be sure so I thought this forum was the perfect place to ask. I want to book two DVC rooms (using points) for the same dates. One room would be for my wife and I and one would be for our adult son (he's over 18). Due to preferences I am also leaning towards booking these two rooms in different resorts. We will have a car so I am not worried about getting around, and of course there is always Disney transportation.

My only concern is I have heard when members book two rooms at the same time DVC may cancel one or both of them. I don't know of this is policy or even if it's true but I would like to know for sure if any of you can help with the answer to this question.

Thanks!

If the names on both reservations are the same (and for the same dates), it's possible that DVC may cancel one of them. In your case, you will have different people on each reservation so there will not be any issues.

Put your room in your name and your son's in his name. The problem is when a CM's see 2 rooms in your name, you can't be in 2 rooms.

:earsboy: Bill

And hopefully you did not name your son after you.

(As a child who was named after his father, I contest that in today's world it is child abuse. It is beyond absurd how many issues it causes!)

If you do have the same name, I would misspell his by a letter.

As bill states, you can't be in two rooms at once...but apparently the world thinks 2 people can not have the same name.

I would put your wife in the other room as far as Disney is concerned.

You're alllowed to book however many rooms you need. Just use the names of the people that will be on each room.

And hopefully you did not name your son after you.

My husband is a Jr. And had issues even though his dad has been gone for decades now. :sad2: So, when we got married and I would have ended up with the exact same name as his mother I said my given name had worked perfectly fine for many many years and would continue to be just fine!

I have booked online two rooms for the same time three times in the last two years and put my name on both. Did not name those in second room when reserving because that was an issue to be clarified later. About a month before 60 days out, and thus before online check-in was allowed, I sent an email to MS to change and add names to the second room. Everything went fine and there was no issue raised about the two rooms originally being in my name.

Thanks for the responses I feel better now. These boards are so great! Oh and by the way my son's first name is different than mine! :)

For someone who has the same name as his father, yes a common one too Joe, let me speak from experience. I am not a Jr. as we have different middle names (great planning MOM) we are all members on the contract and when I book 2 rooms I need to put either my wife or my mother on the other room. Its really no issue and I have booked them online before....as a side note when I went to get my first mortgage the credit report said I had a Sears Credit Card that was opened in 1973 when I argued with them my reasoning was that I wasn't on this planet in 1973, the woman said Oh you are gonna need to prove that.....um ok LOL there are a lot of great names out there even though I love mine to all future parents pick another name

You have to name each guest in each room so there shouldn't be confusion. Try booking 2 villas-one GR and one 2 BR using 2 different memberships. Each 'member' was staying the other member's room. I think we drove MS crazy with that one. And adding and dropping guests besides. It was a family trip after my youngest niece got married in Key Largo. We didn't know until a few weeks before who was actually going and staying where!
