Question about booking in Dec.?

Howdy,

I just purchased at SSR and I will be going from 12/4/04 thru 12/11/04. I have read some posts about booking day by day. Would this be reccomended for this time of year.

My sales person made a comment that some people do it that way and she said that it is really never needed.

If you are making your reservation right at 11 months, you should have no problems booking at SSR unless you are trying to get a GV- by next December there will only be 8 of those at the resort and they will likely require daily calls to reserve. Other room types should be available at 11 months from checkout day.

My guess is that your sales rep has never tried to book either a standard view or Boardwalk view at the BWV or a GV anytime at BWV or OKW. If she had, she would not have made that statement, LOL!

Early December has proved to be very popular at the WDW DVC resorts. I don't know for sure that the same pattern will continue at SSR, but I bet that it will. Since there will only be a few buildings open in December, 2004 and lots of people will be wanting to give the new resort a try, I personally wouldn't want to chance not booking day by day, especially for my first trip home! (But I don't do well if I have to use the waitlist. As soon as my reservation is booked, I start looking for good airfares and it makes me crazy if I'm on a waitlist for lodging, LOL).

Anyway, I don't think it will hurt to book day by day for that time of the year. Good luck no matter what you decide to do!

I have called day to day for a standard view at the BWV over Christmas and New Year's and ended up on a wait list for New Year's eve. That is with getting through at 9:10 A.M. 11 months in advance.

Your Guide is wrong and shouldn't say things that she doesn't really know the answer to.

If the question asked was about Standard View (or Boardwalk View) at BWV, then they were wrong or at least misleading. If they were talking about a studio, 1BR or 2BR villa or Preferred View (non BW) at BWV at any of the other resorts they were correct and SSR will likely be no different at 11 months except for the aforementioned GV's at that resort.

Since the time period asked about is specifically 12/4/04-12/11/04, there won't be much problem calling on Jan 12, 2004 to make the entire reservation, but it also can't hurt to call earlier to get a feel for how the reservations at SSR are going for that time period. Only SSR owners can make reservations for any date at that resort until 2/04/04 when other DVC members may call for SSR reservations- based on the 7 month priority.

call the afternoon of 1/5/2004 - ask how the resorts is filling up for your week in the studios, 1-bedroom or whatever you want - if they say there has been a rush and I don't have many left - call every day - if she says there is plenty call back at the end -in your case 1/12/2004.

the MS people are pretty good about saying what is what.
