Hi we are considering booking breakfast at Boma during our stay in August and would like to know if it is possible/allowed to wander about the resort and see the animals on the savannah either before or after we eat?
Yes certainly, you don't even have to be having a meal there. You are allowed to goto any resort and look around, we went to about 8 at Xmas to see all the decorations. Ate at Boma looked around but it was dark and not many animals to see. It was a lot batter last August when we had room there and a balcony to see them from.
That's brilliant, thanks for all your responses, the kids were a bit iffy about Boma when they looked at the menu but the draw of hopefully seeing giraffes etc should swing it!

Boma is somewhere you need to try to see if you like it, you can't get the tastes from a menu. As Graeme says the curried soup is delicious but DW and DS couldn't even smell it, not their thing.
We 1st went last August while staying there with the exchange rate as it was it cost about £14 which was a bargain IMO DW & DS were not overimpressed. Went back again at Xmas with the poor rate and Xmas surcharge it worked out at about £24 don't know why but I did not enjoy it half as much, we won't be going back this August. We all enjoy Trails End buffet, more basic but the 3 times we have been we have all enjoyed the food.
I agree with Wayne, Boma has to be experienced to know if it's for you Bf was a bit apprehensive looking at the menu but it ended up being his favourite meal of the trip. I think this helped:
Vegetarian wok of awesomeness! *** apparently Chef TJ didn't think the amazing veggie food on the buffet was sufficient
Deep fried oreos.. Couldn't manage these after all the zebra domes and bread pudding but they tasted great the next day
The shop doesnt open until about 8.00 a.m. To be honest you dont get to see many animals at the back of the main part of the hotel. Just walk through the hotel towards the rooms to the left and you will see the area where the giraffes are, which is what we do as we never get a savannah room. It is nice to also just sit in the resort as with the dark wood it is really relaxing. It is a lovely resort.
