Is there any way to avoid lining up at the restaurant itself in the a.m. for reservations? Just wondering if this has changed at all. We are staying at the GC, but not in the concierge level (I had head that concierge can book BB ahead of time).

Any info is appreciated!

As a Disneyland Reseort hotel guest, you CAN make reservations at the Blue Bayou up to 30 days in advance. You don't need to be staying in the concierge level to do so. Just call (714) 956-6755 to make your reservation, and be sure to tell them you will be staying at the GC and your travel dates. :)

Michelle - have I mentioned what a WEALTH of information you are????? Thank you so much!! You sure know everything. I will call today after they open !!

Yesterday, Friday Aug. 17 - we took a chance, walked up to the reservation desk at BB about noon just to see if anything was available (I thought my husband was nuts!) They had something at 2:40 or we could wait about 20 minutes in the walk up line (turned out to be only about 10 min.) I couldn't believe it!

Go to City Hall when you arrive. They make BB reservations there. We had no wait. In 2 minutes we were on our way.

I just made lunch reservations for Blue Bayou by phone for Sept. 5th. I know you usually have to make these ressies in person, but I thought I would give it a shot, and there was no problem. Maybe because it's off season, they are accepting phone reservations. They did not ask if I was staying at a Disney hotel, and I did not volunteer that we are not.

Looks I am going to make dinner resv's for Blue Bayou and Avalon Cove after this Sunday for our trip. We are staying at the GC. Whats a good time (not going into any parades) to make resv's at these places (4pm or 5pm or 7pm?). We will be there 9/26 2nts.

Thanks

Cindy

I don't think you can make PS's for Avalon Cove - since it isn't owned by Disney. Had lunch here Sunday, August 19 - and enjoyed the experience!

Thats what I though but I will find out Friday or Saturday of this week when I make those resv's at Blue bayou and Avalon Cove.

Thanks again.

I just made resv's per MaryJo's phone number for Avalon Cove and Blue Bayou and Storytellers Cafe. The only thing about doing these resv's now is you don't know what time is a good time to have dinner and when are the parades are going on. Right now we have 4pm rsv at Avalon Cove w/outside seating (hopefully the weather is cool then) and 3:20 at Blue Bayou w/water view for the next day. Are these good times?

Thanks

Minybear,

Have you checked the official site, www.disneyland.com for the show schedules for your dates? I think they have most of September in there. I'm going Oct. 8-12, and they have the hours up, but not the show schedules. As far as eating in "off" hours (i.e. less crowded), your times sound good. I'm not sure if they coincide with parade times though.

Also, I have a question for you...you mentioned that you have outside seating for Avalon Cove, and waterside at Blue Bayou. Did you specifically request those views/seating areas, or did they ask you? Just curious because I'm planning on dining at those exact same restaurants during my visit!!

Thanks for keeping us updated! Have a great trip, and I hope you will post a trip report when you return!

The CM asked me if I wanted outside seating for the Avalon Cove and if I wanted waterside seating at Blue Bayou. Making the reservation in advance was really easy. The CM was very nice and did not grip that I was making resv early (20 days prior). The CM was very helpful also.

I have the schedule and I viewed the disneyland site but that site and the schedule does not mention the Electrical Parade (which is going on until 9/29. (Sorry they have not extended the parade till October yet:(: that I know of) and I think the time for that parade is 6pm (I forgot to ask the CM when making these dinner resv's Woops).

Unlike my usual planning for WDW, I went much lighter on the planning for DL. So the day before we were going to DL for our final day, I rememered that we had no PS for lunch at Blue Bayou. Instead of acting immediately, I waited until the next morning and went to guest services in GC. They said they did not make same day PS and that I had to go to the restaurant, which I did. I'm disappointed to read that I could have saved some time and walking by going to City Hall. They never suggested that option to me. Lunch was great, the waterside seating was the best and we were so full from our latish lunch that we barely ate dinner, just grazed.

We went to DL during Spring Break this year (totally last minute). We thought we were crazy to do this--it wasn't too bad at all!
I didn't know that this board even existed--so, I was totally clueless! Anyway, we went right up to the hostess at the Blue Bayou and made same day ressies--it was that easy! We do better if we can plan on the same day what we're going to do for meals! Planning 30 days in advance is not like us at all! When we showed up for our PS--they tried to put us by the waiters station--we had them change us to the rivers' edge--it was much better! Beware: people riding the Pirates of the Carribean ride will video tape/take pictures of you/talk & whistle at you! It was kind of funny!

Have fun!:smooth:
