Question about Bippidi Boppidi Boutique

We are thinking about taking my daughter (she will be 5 when we go) and getting her hair and makeup done but I read that you will need to bring your own brush, etc. My daughter is bi-racial and her hair is very thick and curly and to brush it I always have to use a ton of detangler. I was just wondering if they would have a problem using detangler also or would they not want to deal w/ that.

I doubt you need to bring your own brush ...not for what they charge. I am sure you could call them they are just like a beauty parlor.

They do tell you to bring your own brush. But we just went maybe 2 weeks ago and they has combs they were using. They sent them home. I would bring a what you think you may need to have just in case. It seemed basically all the hairstyles have the hair all pulled back into t poneytail type bun. So if your dd hair would be tough without the detangler then have it and see what they can do. She would lOVE it. I saw my dd 6 seeing all the girls and not saying anything just looking at the,. Then when I surprised her she LOVED all the attention now on her!

Maybe it is just me but bringing your own brush does not sound all that sanitary. What if someone had a brush that was not clean etc. YES we all know that if we had to bring a brush we would go out and buy a new one but as a teacher one of my fears is head lice and what if someone brought a brush and it had head lice. I just do not see why they cannot provide you with a souvenier brush! Sounds like a letter to the BBB to me! LOL

We took DD to the BBB in December and although they told us to bring our brush when we booked when we got there they never asked for it. They used a plastic comb on DD's hair and it was given to her to keep when she was finished.

I just want to say your dd (if that is her in your avatar) is gorgeous!

I've seen them using the generic plastic combs. My sons hair is similar to your DD's and I would bring my own.

Definitely for the price paid a souvenir brush would be the least Disney could provide. Can't wait for my dd's souvenir plastic disposable comb.

When I just made ressies we were told to bring a brush or comb and make sure the child's hair was free from "bugs" (the cm's words), scalp irritations, that the hair was clean and already combed through. He also said to make sure her nails were completely clean, "free from peanut butter and such" (again, cm's words.) This isn't a full service salon, even though the price seems as such. And as far as lice, I don't want to bring home any extra guests from our Disney vacation, but using brushes is not the only way to get lice. The pests can be on the fabric drape. No salon I've ever been in washes those after every use. Heck, a louse could even be on the sleeve of the stylist (just transferred from another head) and then transferred to the client. My point is, there are so many other ways to get lice than just from the brushes.

As posted by all other moms, yes you do need to bring your own brush and they do use it. They use lots and lots of products to get tangles out, my daughters hair is straight but really think.

You get a cool bag of goodies at the end too( combs, nail polish, stick on jewelry). It is lots of fun and that hair style will last for days and days ( MEGA hair spray involved)

My DD(7) is biracial as well with VERY THICK, VERY CURLY hair that hangs to the middle of her back and tangles easily. Takes me 1 and 1/2 hours to wash her hair and comb through it with TONS of detangler and then braid it in two simple braids. 2 and 1/2 to wash, blow it dry and flat iron it. Trust me, I feel your pain. We went to BBB last August and she had a wonderful experience getting her hair, nails and makeup done. I took her brush, her comb, a pick, a water spray bottle with detangler spray in it with us to BBB. That morning I washed her hair and braided it in two pig tails, because it is easier to manage when wet. When we arrived, I waited until the last minute and completely wet it down with detangler/water mix and brushed it out straight. The FGIT was able to do the twist/bun/etc to get the hair up into the style before her hair dryed out and became a tangled mess. She worked with me to keep the hair wet and manageable. Merissa chose the Diva style where they put some of your hair up into a bun and add a hair piece. So, bottom line, they did not give me any problem about having to use detangler or wet hair, but I was as prepared as possible in advance and had everything ready to go so that her hair did not cause any undue delay. We are going back in November! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input!! I think I will do that with my daughter also, just have her hair already wet and brushed w/ the detangler.

I just made two appointments and each time they told me that:


1. we need to bring our own brush
2. the hair already needs to be brushed thru prior to starting the apt.
3. hair/scalp must be free of any/all issues (lice?)

We were also told to bring a brush, but they didn't use it. They just used the orange combs that were then given to them to take home along with the makeup and nailpolish.

You're daughter is gorgeous!! My girls are african-american and we are going in April and I will have their hair is single braids but I have been to a similar boutique in our city called "Libby Lou's" and what I did was straighten their hair before we went. The girls at the boutique were able to work with it without a problem! I don't know if you have ever straightened her hair before but even if you blow dry it out, I think it would be fine.
