I don't know if there are many people here that watch this show but after watching it last night I'm becoming extremely confident about what the twist might be.

I think that Fox is experimenting with family vs. money. I think they offered the mother and father a half a million if they get the siblings to go to the wedding and get Randi to tell the truth about what was going on. They offered the siblings half a million to not go to the wedding. The question is...who will put their family before their money??

Does anyone see this as well?

I've watched it every week...and I can't say I've looked at it in such a way...but personally don't think that is part of it.

I do believe however that Randi's family is in on it. The siblings are just way to stubborn by not going. I don't care how much I hated my sister's soon to be hubby, I would be there for her regardless of the fact. Something doesn't click there. Also, did you see Randi's face at the end of the show yesterday....something big happened and I think it was more than just finding out that Steve (is that his name) is an actor!

Her expression at the end caught my eye too. DH and I also think the siblings, especially the older brother are taking this really bad, a little to bad. Something just doesn't seem right with his reaction. I heard on one of the daytime shows that Randi is really mad about whatever happens.

Hmmmmmm, that's interesting. I also noticed the look on Randi's face and thought there must be more to it than just Steve being an actor. I wonder why her siblings are being so stubborn. I know nothing would keep me from my siblings' wedding, no matter what I thought of the person they were marrying. Something's fishy......

I watched the first two episodes, but frankly, I just couldn't bear watching the deception any further. We're talking about so much money, but believe me, if relationships are permanently damaged as a result, it's just not worth it. I guess I don't find "lying" which is what the show is basically about, all that entertaining to watch.

Well, who else here thinks that Randi and her family are a well to do family, and do not REALLY need this extra money? I think there's something else really involved here...AKA FAME! The look like they're loaded based on the house they own and just the way the act (very snotty).

Can someone please tell me what happened on the last episode? I was in New York seeing Aida, Phantom, and David Letterman:D

Thanks!

Stepharoonie!:

That's what DH and I thought . . .when they showed Randi's family at their home in Colorado . . .wasn't it a huge nice house? We thought it was strange that they were in need of money for college, Patrick being able to move out of home, etc. . . .??

Looks can be deceiving. I know people that on the surface appear to be very well off, but aren't. I know one family that lives in a hugh home, but she told me that they were up to their ears in debt. Who knows.

Go back and watch it again. The editing was HORRIBLE! The mother would even have on different outfits during some of the wedding shots.

I think that they should have picked a "more in need" family. It was very hard for me to be excited that these people were receiving such a large chunk of change. They didn't even seem that excited.

laurenk, PM sent to you. I'll fill you in with the details if you PM me. I hate to post it here in case someone is still waiting to watch.

BTW, I heard a rumor that they are replaying the final show sometime this week? Is it true?

Heard on the radio this morning that they are replaying the final 2 episodes on Thursday night.

I watched the final and thought it was absolutely terrible!
I started watching this about half way through, and thought it was really funny. I really looked forward to see how it all ended, but I got the impression that they figured it would work out one way, and when it didn't they scrambled to change it all in the end so as not to make Randi and her whole family look as bad as they did! Doing this all for the love of her family.......ya right!

I agree it was horrible editing. Also it was really weird - his family just sat there looking stupid once the story was out. I thought they'd get up and laugh about the fact they were all actors, etc. and some of the dumb things they did.

If you watch closely, you'll see Randi's family really disgusted at the whole thing......Mom walks out......kids look mad, etc. When they finally get back to sitting and hearing the whole story, Dad comments, it was not worth the money, blah, blah.......then they award the family $500K and her $500K - did you see the smiles!!!
They were all so happy. They must be in some serious financial trouble to make themselves all look so stupid!!

I'm sorry - I really like some reality TV - but this one was trash!!

Saw Randi (Finance) on ET last night.

Also saw her on another show, Extra, I think.

They said the ratings were over 21 million for the final show and they had gotten great ratings the whole time. Wow! That suprised me. Seemed like I knew just a handful of people that were watching.

She said everything is very cool, with her family, and Steve. She keeps in touch with Steve and has had dinner with him and his wife. She said her Dad really likes Steve and they keep in touch as well. Said her family is planning a big trip to Ireland for her Dad's 50th birthday.

One word of advice she had, when you sign up for a reality show, make sure you know EVERY DETAIL!! *LOL* I wonder why!!

A friend saw Steve on Letterman. This is what she said:
I saw Steve on Letterman last night. He said that he really likes her father & spoke with him yesterday. Her father was very happy with the way they were shown. It was a bit difficult for them to get through watching shows 4 & 5(all the pain & worry) but in the end they were happy with how they were portrayed.
Letterman kept saying how he thinks that it was wierd that the family was mad until they found out about the $500,000. He kept pushing the idea that anyone else would have stayed angry if their family had been humiliated on TV by their daughter, but Steve kept trying to point out that the speech was what really made them see how the show tried to portray how much they loved one another and made them feel better. Letterman complimented Steve on the great speech he gave at the end of the show. Steve said that at first it was very funny, but when the family got so hurt & upset, it was difficult to do the show. Everybody who was a part of the production was just trying to survive the final days. I imagine the producers were very worried during those last few days. At the end, Steve said that he has been taking meetings & hopes to get more work. He asked Letterman if he had anything available around the studio - like maybe an opening for a fat obnoxious intern.

I think it is funny that Randi said to read every detail when you sign up for a reality show. SO is always telling me that he would never do a reality show because the surprise twists are getting meaner or more humiliating all the time.

I'm gonna hijack this thread a tiny bit, as I did the last thread on the show. I started watching it the week before last (the week before the big finale), and I was seriously disgusted at the family (mainly the siblings) that they would be willing to hurt their sister this way, and not agree to go to her wedding. I don't know about everyone else (though i saw one other person on the tread say something similar) but if my sister were about to get married, i'd go no matter what. she's my SISTER, and it would hurt her much more that her sister wouldn't show up to her wedding, than it would hurt me that my sister was marrying someone I don't like. And that's the other thing. I hardly ever like any of my sisters boyfriends anyway. Most of the time I think they just aren't good enough for her (which is just a protective thing), and sometimes they were just real jerks. But I would NEVER EVER say 'sorry, i don't like this guy, and YOU'RE RUINING OUR FAMILY BY MARRYING HIM, so i'm not going'. It just seems horrible to me. The only one that seemed to be on deck the whole time, and willing to do anything to make her happy, was the father, and I applaud him for that. The mom wasn't too terrible, but you could still tell she was upset/ angry. I agree w/ someone else that said the family was well off. What was the whole elitist business of 'she's not thinking about the family'? Last time I checked, marriage was about how two people love eachother and want to make a commitment, not about, well how does everyone else in the family feel bout it first, and THEN i'll see if i wanna marry the person i love... Ok, sorry for the hijacking, I just got angry with the family.

tricia.

I did have respect for Randi's dad when he said that marriage shouldn't be about money. The family seemed like a typical conservative Catholic family. Kind of like mine, yeah for real. Unfortunately, they seemed like a really hard bunch to please, and I know what thats like.:D

It was kind of cruel to have this trick played on them. Atleast everyone won in the end.:D

I totally agree Tricia that her family was so unsupportive and their attitudes were totally wrong. I would get so furious watching her brother say that Randi marrying Steve would ruin the family. How stuck-up and just plain rude he is!

Tricia, don't worry about hijacking this thread..... your thoughts on the family mirror mine. The kids were some of the "not nicest" people.

Maybe they are a "typical" American family, where you have to do what your family tells you, or only do what makes them happy.

All along I had thought Randi was very superficial wanting Steve to everything she told him. I see where she got it. That appears to be how her family operates.

There is someone on the Boards who knows them personally. Maybe we're all wrong, but those people did not do themselves any service.
