Hi again,
Have already thought of another question. Is there a map somewhere I can look at to see which I think would be the best site for us to camp in? I didn't see it anywhere and thought there may be another thread or a website link.

Thanks again in advance,

The first time we went, we were in 1500 loop, and loved it, the other two times was in 2000 for the most part, I don't think there is really a bad spot

How were crowds at the comfort stations during the morning or evening in loops 1500 and 2000? We have a pop-up but we usually get preferred sites. However, they didn't have any preferred sites available so we are having to get a partial hookup. I am afraid it is going to be more crowded at the showers since everyone in those loops will be using them. TIA

I thibnk it would depend on when you go. I have been there in Aug and the showers were not too bad but I am also an early bird. The afternoon or late evening is a great time to use the shower (this is when my sons usually go)

Picking a "best site" at FW is kind of like choosing the best ice cream flavor.
They all have something to like and your favorite will depend on who you are.

We were in the 900 loop last fall and had probably one of the only crappy FW sites. It was right next to the path to the group camping area so in the early morning there were heards of teenage girls trouping through. It was also in the blazing sun all day, no shade.

We were in 1500 last year and loved being so close to the Meadow area.

Hello. First timers to Ft. Wilderness in June 2006. We are camping in a pop-up and we're trying to find out if someone is familiar with the size of the sites. I have found 2 sites that said significantly different things about the width of the 1500 and 2000 loops sites. One says average of 25 feet wide, the other 40 feet, and lengths are all over the board from 25 - 60 feet. This will have bearing on if we just use the canopy or set up a large 12 X 20 screen house. Also, does anyone have any experience with one of the newer portable air conditioners in a pop-up? Do they work pretty well in a pop-up? I have a 9000 BTU that we haven't used yet and are hoping that will help with the heat in June. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Curt & Jody

Curt & jody, I can't answer a single one of your questions, but wanted to say

:welcome:

to the DIS!!

I was hoping to find out ahead of time which site we will have but I was told yesterday by the reservation office that we won't know until check in:so I imagine it wouldn't do any good to request a specific site :) . We are coming from MI and probably won't be there till afternoon or evening, so we'll get what's leftover. Should still be good though, we are secured for a preferred site because of the size of the MH. I'm sure we will have a great time no matter what.JCA1970 :)

Hello. We plan on coming into FW on sunday sometime on June 11th with a pop up. I am a little confused about check in times though. Everything I read says 1 pm but the person I got the reservation from at Disney said after 7 am is ok. Do you get to choose your site at 7 or have to wait till 1PM? What are chances of getting a decent site in the partial hook ups on sunday as opposed to saturday too? I understand there are only 2 loops for partials (1500 & 2000). How many amps is the service in the 1500 & 2000 loops? We're bringing a portable A/C and it uses 12 amps itself. Thanks for any input? :confused3

bord1niowa,
WOW! you have alot of questions! the sites metioned above will help you out on most of them. the 1500 loop is a good loop for a first timer, right near the pool and stuff. your A.C, is it a roof top? believe it or not, a fan will work well if you have shade. but I know what you mean. the amperage service will be fine in either loop.
As far as check-in goes, basicly, the earlier you get there, the faster the process will go. the lines get longer later in the day. And no, you can't pick your spot,

Officially, check in is at 1:00pm. If your site is ready, you can check in earlier. We have had it both ways checking in as early as 10:00am and having to wait for our site to be ready. I don't think you will have any problem with a pop up and a screen tent on any site. You have the sand pad for the screen tent and the pavement for the camper. If you do get something that you don't think will work, just let them know at the front desk. They will find something else for you.

When we were there in Aug we spent the first night at the WL. At 8:30 we called up to see when we could chekc in and they said anytime and the site was ready but this was towards the end of Aug when it was quiet.
