Sorry in advance, i'm not sure where to post this question, this seemed like the most reasonable place.

So, what I really want to do is get a job at the Walt Disney World resort, I dont care what position it is, i'll take it. I just spent the last 2 hours cutting my hair, shaving, getting my outfit together, etc.

Here is my question, I know the dress code, and im fine with it, there is 1 thing holding me back though, I have a tattoo, and it is visible. I have Mickey Mouse (Steamboat Willy) on my right forearm.

What do you think my chances of getting a job at Disney are?

Although, They have an image they attempt to uphold, I doubt you would be the only cast member with a tattoo on their forearm, especially out of the 10's of thousands of cast members. I would tend to think what you can bring to the table regarding experience and the position your looking for would matter much more than a steamboat willie tatoo on your forearm.

When I was a cast member no tattoos could show, so you could get a job in a location where they wear long sleeved shirts or have jackets. This may have changed since then, but be truthful with them about it.

1) No visible tattoos.
2) Even of Mickey.
3) Put some "pancake" makeup over it.

I was a custodial CM in 2005. I would suggest that you look for a position in the back of the Mouse. Just head on over to casting and good luck!

Be aware that they're still having a hiring freeze. I believe there is a wait list for full-time. My DD is working part-time now and has been waiting for full-time since May. They also just brought on the next group of College Program kids. Good luck though!!

I would definately say it is going to be pretty tough getting employment there anytime soon - they probably also have a huge waiting list.

And as the other poster said, there are most likely many people who took part-time positions who will be first in line for full-time positions since they will have a priority.

In this economy, I wouldn't expect to just get dressed up, walk in and be handed a job - they are very selective about who they choose, even in a good economy. I don't think they are handing out jobs to the first person who comes along.

One of the guys I work with has a son with a bachelor's in civil engineering and a master's in business and he has been trying for three years to get a job there.

I think it depends on the position and shift also.

If you are applying for 3rd shift custodial you probably would have a better chance than someone applying for, say, costuming.

Check out some of the less glamourous positions. I say it's worth going over to casting and taking a shot. The tattoo issue might be a problem though.

I agree with what everyone said. Expect to cover your tattoo. I did the college program for my culinary school externship and I had to wear long sleeves in the kitchen. NOT FUN.
Also, even though I still love Disney, it was not as fun as you'd think to work there. So just keep that in mind if you get lucky enough to get a job. :) They expect a lot out of you and, from what I've heard, don't pay you much to do it.
Good luck!

At least when I was there, they would assign you a role that had a costume that would cover the tattoo. I had one co-worker with one on his upper arm and another with one on her ankle--they were specifically assigned to jobs with elbow-length sleeves and pants, respectively. So expect to have to wear long sleeves in Florida year-round.

No visible tats EVER......cover it with make up....and be honest.....male or female....trust me, honesty is the way to go. And yes, there is still a hiring freeze...good luck!

As for the hiring freeze - know 2 people who moved Orlando in the last couple of months and both are working for the Mouse now, 20/25 hours a week (not seasonal). Guess anything is possible. :goodvibes

Good luck (And, from another former CM, as others have said, cover the tattoo.) :thumbsup2
