Hello all. If there is a better forum for this please move it. :) My question has to do with renting points and a specific room category. I was looking into trying to rent a studio with a standard view. Can anyone give me specifics about this type of room. How likely are we to be able to book this close. Are we even crazy to think we could, :confused3 how about a different catagory there? Thanks for any help! :thumbsup2

We are also thinking of combining with a cruise(either disney or another, we have not decided yet) so changing dates is possible if MLK weekend might be impossible!

on the top of this page is a link to DVC Point charts, you can use them to figure out exactly how many points you would need. As to availability, sorry, I cannot help.

When do you want the standard view studio? They book up pretty fast I believe at the 11 month window. Are you looking to travel in 2012? If you thinking about maybe the end of next summer or next fall you might be able to find an owner who can book that for you.

BLT standard views tend to book up 10-11 months out as they are less expensive.

timeshares like DVC tend to book up well in advance, so if you are looking for anything on short notice - and 3 months is very short notice in the timeshare world - you'd probably be limited to larger resorts like SSR and OKW.

if your plans are not 100% certain, i wouldn't consider renting from a DVC owner at all, as availability can be iffy and there are typically no refunds.

Only 10 percent of the rooms at BLT are standard view. And all of the studios are paired with a 1 BR in a 2BR lockoff configuration. So that means any one that wants a 2 BR lockoff is competing with those that want a 1BR or a studio. So that makes it even more difficult to get a studio.

It might be easier to get a standard studio if you rent points from a BLT owner, then you can make the reservation at the 11 month mark. Otherwise you have to wait until the 7 month mark. Good luck.

You never know, but if you are talking MLK weekend 2012, it will be nearly impossible. As others have mentioned, standard view rooms usually book up 11 months in advance.

With four of you , a BLT studio will be pretty tight. It's the smallest of all the DVC studios.

We recently booked a standard studio at the 7 month window. It probably depends on what dates you are looking at and how far out you book.
