Question about AP renewal after it expires

We have the SoCal select passes now but we want to upgrade to the deluxe passes when these passes are up but I have a concern about the dates. Our passes expire on October 3rd but the earliest time we can both get off work to return to DL is around the 20th of October. So my question is exactly how much is the discount if we renew the passes early? Also if we wait until the 20th to return to DL and buy the deluxe passes, will our new expiration date be 10/20/15 or will DL try to keep my original AP date of the 3rd?

To me it seems like it should obviously be the 20th but lately I've been reading on some other forums about DL making some hinky changes to its terms and conditions with their annual passes. Thanks in advance!

I think I see what you're getting at here, but correct me if I'm wrong. You want to renew your existing APs before they expire on 10/3 to get the renewal discount, and then on your next visit to DLR on 10/20 you want to upgrade to DAPs.

I think that's the only way you could do it. I'm not sure if you keep your renewal discount (i.e. if the ticket booth CMs will price bridge) when you upgrade from a renewal-discounted AP. Your expiration date would remain 10/3--upgrading doesn't change your expiration date.

If you "renew" then your expiration date stays the original expiration date (in your case 10/3). If you let them expire and just buy new passes then your expiration date is the first day you use them. It has always been this way.

I would upgrade at the time you renew, you will get a bigger renewal discount. You can renew online (sometimes) or over the phone. If you renew at your current pass level and upgrade later, you wont get the same discount. If you renew later in the month, your experation date will still be your original expiration date. I think for it to be considered a new pass, it needs to be expired for over 30 days. Otherwise it renews at the old date
