Question about AOA Family Suites

I'm a nanny for a family of 6. The family wants to take a vacation to Disney World in early May and would like me to tag along, which I'm more than happy to do. I am however wondering about what accommodations are available to us as such a large party. Would all seven of us be able to fit into a single AOA family suite? The website says "six adults" but I am not sure if that includes children and which children in our group it would include. We will be taking kids ages 5, 3, 2, and approximately 4 months old (she won't be going to the parks, we will probably rotate someone around to stay with her in the room/hotel area). I've been looking at the site and with the beds available, I think logistically the parents would sleep in the queen bed, I'd take the table bed, and the three "big kids" would sleep together on the sofa bed while the infant sleeps in a pack-and-play. Is this reasonable? I'm not sure about the size of anything other than the queen so if you have input, please let me know.

If you don't think the suites are big enough for us, should I ask them for my own room? They're paying the whole way for me (minus tickets, because I'm a passholder). I would feel kind of bad if they had to pay for their own room for six plus a room just for me. Or should we explore another option outside of the AOA family suites altogether? These are the only ones I know of so I thought they were a good place to start.

I'm a seasoned Disney traveler but most of my trips are with my boyfriend and it's definitely different to do Disney as a young couple versus visiting with a family with really young kids! I don't have much, if any experience with the latter so I'm just trying to cover all my bases. (Just as a sidenote - I've been with this family for almost two years, and they are all very familiar/comfortable with me so I'm not too concerned about any awkwardness or annoyance with sharing a room, more about the "will we all fit?" problem.)

If you want to stay together this would be your best option.
The parents would have some privacy and the kitchenette area would be great for snacks for that many young children. If you are unsure if the three kids will sleep in one bed, you could bring a child sized air mattress to have on hand just in case.

Anywhere else you would need to book two rooms. Connecting rooms would work, but that is a request only so it is likely that you would wind up in two rooms that don't connect.

Hi! I am going with my family of six (3 adults, 3 kids age 10-14). There are also suites at All Star Music that sleep six if you want to check that out, or if you can't get an Animation suite. The bed layout is different. You might need to figure out where there will be room for the playpen with all of the beds out. Have a great trip!

Table bed and sofa bed are both full size beds. Bedroom is a queen.

I agree. I would take the baby into the parks in an baby carrier or stroller. The baby would enjoy just looking around. The baby is free. You might have to take the baby back early for naps, etc. That way one adult isn't always stuck back at the hotel.

Another option might be to rent DVC points to have a bit of a larger space. Renting points would probably cost more, but you would have a bit more space if you were to rent a one bedroom depending on where you rented.

Renting dvc points through David's would be another option, but a one bedroom only sleeps at most five adults, depending on the resort. So you would definitely need at least a two bedroom for your party.

You can check www.dvcrequest.com for pricing. For starters it's between $4500-6500 for a two bedroom unit in June depending on resort. They have a full kitchen and washer and dryer which could be very useful with all those kids.

You are right; the one bedrooms do only sleep 5. The one bedroom units seem larger than the suites, which makes it seem like it should sleep more. The suites have the table bed which the DVC units do not .

Just to add in I think it's totally reasonable to ask for your own room if you want it. When our nanny goes on vacation with us they get their weekly salary, travel paid for, and their own room. This is why no nanny at disney for us . Especially since you have your ticket already!

I have to agree with this. It may sound great but it sounds like you will likely end up sleeping in the same room as the kids you nanny for since the AOA suites only have one bedroom with a door and I'm betting the parents will want it. When kids are sleeping somewhere they are not used to there is always the chance they won't sleep well...and with you being in the same room, guess who is on 24/7 duty?
I think especially since you are already a passholder the best bet for everyone involved is them getting a family suite and you getting a room of your own at the same resort. That way, you still have your 'working hours' and a chance to get away if needed. They get their privacy if they want it.
