Question about Annual Passes

I just now booked a week at the CBR for August and the AP rate but we don't have the passes yet. I am a Disney Club member and I believe can get a discount however they told me to have the passes ready to show at check in. Can I pre-purchase them at a Disney Store? I live in Maine so I can't buy them at the gate ahead of time:eek:

I purchased our AP vouchers at our Disney store,
and then they can be activated at any of the
theme parks.

As far as I know, you only need to show the
voucher when checking to the hotel to get the
AP rate. (I have heard they want the actual
activated AP in some cases).

You may want to call CBR front desk to find out
for sure.

My Disney store does sell AP's but I believe she said it's a "voucher" - is the pass activated only when we use them for the first time or when I buy it? I want it to be good for one year from when I first use it. Thanks

They are activated when you first use them.

When you buy an Annual Pass (or Premium Annual Pass) from the DS, they sell you a voucher. You don't actually start using days until you turn in the voucher for your actual pass in Disney World when you arrive.

If you are concerned about checking in without the pass, you can purchase the Annual Passes at the Disney Store in the airport and still get the discounted rate you would have got at your local DS (Note you cannot get the Park Hopper passes discounted at the MCO store, only the annual passes. When you purchase at the MCO store, you get an actual activated pass.

So if you are really worried about using a voucher at checkin (which the resorts should allow you to do) you can wait and get the passes at the DS at MCO...

Where and how at the parks do you get them activated?

We are in the same situation. I bought out APs at the Disney Store and will be checking into CBR the first week of June. I plan on stopping at DTD on the way to the hotel and having them activated at Guest Services. You can also get them activiated at Guest Services at any of the parks.

You can most certainly check in using the unactivated vouchers. We have done this before and will be doing it again in August.

We never activate until after we have checked in and gotten settled. We then head to (any theme park of your choice - We prefer MK) and activate them at the front gate.

as others have stated, you can activate them other places - Guest Services at some(all?) resorts.

Why didn't you book the fairy tale package?? It includes park passes and if your staying 7 days you get I think 3 nights free. Seems like a better deal. Call back and see if they'll cost it out . Maybe they'll apply the discount to your exsisting reservation. You don't need to get the trip insurance either if you want to cut costs.

Already did this but decided to go with the AP rate and annual passes rather than the type that comes with the FT package which expire when you check out. Plus it give us good reason to go back next year :)

HamHam - I agree with you. I checked into a little more closely after you posted and with an AP it comes out a little less expensive and then to get $$ worth will just "have" to go again. I've never gone 2x in a year so that should be fun.

You cannot buy or activate AP's at any Disney Resort. The activation can only take place at a major park ticket booth, Guest Relations windows at the major parks or at either of the two Guest Relations offices at DTD. There are no other places.
