Question about Annual Pass room discounts

Hello! I'm thinking of upgrading my tickets to annual passes when we go in November so that I can go again in late June/early July. I was told that annual pass holders usually get room discounts of up to 30%. Can anyone please give the lowdown on how these work?
I saw that the discounts usually come out 2-4 months in advance. Can I book a room 6 months in advance & then change to a discounted room?
Are the discount percentages tiered (ie 10% off Values, 20% off Moderates, 30% off Deluxes)?
Are there any resorts/rooms that are typically excluded?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, but only if there's a room available at your resort, for your dates with the AP discount. There is no advantage to booking at rack rate 6 months in advance unless you have your heart set on staying at a specific resort and you're willing to pay the rack rate if a discount is not available.

Yes. The discounts are greater for the more expensive rooms. However, the %-off will vary from season to season.

AP discounts are based on what rooms remain unbooked and are done to entice AP holders to make "one more trip" to fill those empty rooms. Typically, the hard-to-fill rooms will be discounted but those rooms that tend to book quickly will be excluded. LM rooms tend to fall in the latter category.

Any idea what the percentage usually are for summer? (Late June/early July?)

We are debating between POFQ and Pop at this point. Are they usually on the list?

Thanks so much for your response!

The AP discounts used to come out earlier in the discount release cycle, and used to be much better than the GP and Visa discounts. But now as you can see from the link @Marionnette posted to MouseSavers, they usually come out later, and are often only 2-5% better than what the GP already could have booked with, so I never suggest taking an AP room discount into consideration if you are trying to figure out breakeven.
