There is no economy left on flight I want, so main cabin says no change fees. So if I see a cheaper flight later, can I just change it online? Also could I switch flights or airports as well?

There is no Basic Economy left is what you're saying? Yes, you should be able to cancel a main cabin ticket ticket, get an ecredit and use to to purchase a different flight. You will still have to pay fare difference if there is one.

Sometimes you will have the option to "modify" your flight online to a new date, airport, destination, etc. without having to cancel for the credit first. I usually do that first and if they deny me the option I will cancel and rebook (ETA: rebook with the credit).

You can switch into anything you like, but you will get a flight credit (usable for I think a year or so), not a refund, to reflect the price difference (unless you purchase a refundable fare, which almost nobody does as they tend to be prohibitively expensive).

Sure.
Remember too, just in case all aren't clear
No change fees doesn't mean you won't pay more
If the fare is more, you'll pay the difference.
They just eliminated the old $200 change fee they had pre-covid. That was in addition to fare differences. Now it's just fare differences. Sometimes, rarely, it's even an e-credit due to a cheaper fare

Everyone keeps bringing up the cost if the price increases. Did anyone else read the part I bolded of the OP?

I specifically stated if the fare is cheaper you get an e-credit. Cheaper is rare but I've found them and yes, you get an e-credit. I've even gotten it when my exact same flight reduced in cost. It's become much like Southwest in that aspect.

Yes there are no economy fares left and there haven’t been for months. I was hoping to at least lock in a flight, then if a better time or price came up, I could rebook online before cancelling, so I wouldn’t take the chance of having no flight at all.. Yes like SWA does.
