I was told I had a standard room , but it would be either a pool room or a savanna room, she told me I will know at check in. So do you think since I will checking in on a Sat night, I might have better luck getting a savana since it is before the "busy time"?

We were told by IPO that all CL rooms are standard rooms with savannah view. But I've been reading here that people are being told that pool view rooms are included in the room category too. Has this been recently changed?

I was told the same thing when I made ressie, either I would get a pool view or savanna view. I hope I get a savanna room with as much as I am paying.:scared1:

We wanted conc. level but were told that the only conc rooms available couldn't be promised to have a savannah view. My DB said when he stayed there all conc rooms had a savannah view. Perhaps this is a something new?

Last summer when I stayed I was put on the fifth floor and had to use the elevator key to get to the lounge since I wanted a Savannah View so badly. As a result it was a standard room rahter than a deluxe room, but I did have Savannah view. When DH enquired about the room location and lack of amenities--only slept four, no sofa, etc. we were told that since we mentioned that Savannah view was important to us and some glib stab at since it was a AAA rate anyway and you didn't pay rack for the room this is where we put you. Overall the attitude I could have done without, but it was more important to us to have the Savannah view and relaly that was all they needed to share with me--of course the AAA discount wans't even all that much less so I still dont' understand why they brought that up!?

This is what I have been able to learn from others on these boards. Concierge and deluxe rooms were 5th & 6th floors. These rooms are all in the process of being converted to villas. Concierge rooms will now be on the 4th floor and will be standard sized rooms. All rooms are either savanah or pool view and you cannot be guaranteed a savanah room. Floors 1-3 are regular standard rooms with one of 3 available views.

Here are my questions...why would I want to pay so much more for concierge/club level when I can be guaranteed a savanah room which is the same size for less money simply by booking a standard savanah room? If I would be satisfied with a pool view, why would I book a concierge room at a higher price than a savanah view room? Shouldn't a club level room with only a pool view be less expensive? The only reason I really want club level for our Aug 08 trip is to have access to the sunrise safari. But I'm not sure that it is worth the risk of ending up with a pool view.

Are you sure you were on the 5th floor and not the 4th? Before DVC took over, I was under the impression that all 5th floor rooms were deluxe; some with CL service and some without. Now of course, all CL rooms are standard size and on the 4th floor. My understanding from being there in late June was that all CL rooms are now Savanna view.

From our trip in late June this year, we were told that all CL rooms were Savanna view now on the 4th floor. As for paying more, you get access to the IPO staff, can book the sunrise safari as well as the sunset safari, and you get food offerings throughout the day. When the CL rooms were on 5 and 6, you couldn't book a guaranteed view but back then, the smoking rooms were pool view so if you requested non-smoking, you were pretty much guaranteed a savanna view.

Just to put it in perspective, the numbers before DVC took over the 5th and 6th floor were as follows:

135 standard view rooms (ie., face the parking lot)
136 pool view rooms
724 savanna view standard sized rooms
33 deluxe pool view rooms
191 deluxe savanna view rooms
55 deluxe concierge rooms, most facing a savanna

The last 3 categories are basically gone with the DVC conversion so just look at the other numbers. With those stats, the likelyhood of getting anything other than a savanna view is low unless you only pay for the standard or pool view. They are not going to give the CL customers bad rooms and in fact, the CL rooms are set aside because CL gets robes and nightly turn down service (without having to request) plus from what I can tell, they all have the new flat screen TVs and DVD players. They are not going to keep changing the amenities in rooms to turn those into non-CL rooms.

I had a reservation for next year (which I've since changed, but anyways), and I had a few email exchanges with IPO at AKL, whom I would take their word over that of Disney Travel CMs: All standard CL rooms are on the four floor and have a savanna view.
