So a little off topic of Disney, but since so many people fly and do surprise trips I thought someone might be able to help me.

I'm trying to plan a surprise birthday trip for my boyfriend and would need to buy plane tickets. It'll be within the US so no need for passport or anything. Will there be any reason for the airline company to contact him? Also what sort of information of his would I need to book a plane ticket for him? I want the trip to be a complete surprise like I drive us to the airport and he doesn't even realize he's going anywhere. I've never done anything like this before and people on here have been so helpful so I thought someone might be able to help me.

Book them with your email and contact information. You'll need his name, his birthdate and sex. He will need his photo ID to board the flight.

You will need the information from his driver's license, exactly as it appears there - name and DOB.

Usually just full name including middle (spelled correctly) and birthdate.
TSA pre-check number if applicable. FF number if applicable. It shouldn't go to him as long as you don't enter his cell number or email address.

If she enters his Frequent Flyer number, the itinerary will appear in his FF profile (if he logs in). If it's a surprise, it's best to enter that at the gate.

OP as stated earlier just make sure you put in his name and DOB exactly as it is on his ID.

Also when you surprise him at the airport you may want to either tell him your flying some where before you leave or have a bag that you check or store items you can't fly with..in case he daily carries anything (like a nice pocket knife)

Thanks everyone you're the best! I actually have a picture of his ID he had sent me a long time ago when I was booking a cruise so that's perfect.

So I got a picture of my boyfriend's ID. On it for his middle name it just has the initial instead of the full name. So when I buy the tickets should I only put in the initial so it matches the ID? On his passport it has his full name, but we won't be bringing that since it's a domestic flight.

Just do the initial. I would do either, but I've had the experience that middles don't really matter. Others have more worry about it.
