Question about adults getting kids meals at CS restaurants

Hello. We are a family of 4 and will not be on the dining plan this year. we do, however, have some large meal ADRs planned. On those days I just can't see doing a big lunch and then a big dinner so I was wondering how possible it is for one adult to order something like 4 kids meals at lunch counter service places. We either like that option or splitting stuff but since most of the hamburger type places (ex pecos bils) comes with sodas it would really make more sense to order kids meals? Is this really frowned upon? Are they really that strict on how old you are to get kids meals?
My 10 year old daughter eats like a toddler so no matter what she will get a kids meal.

Thanks,
Debbie

As the personnel at a CS restaurant can really have no idea who is going to eat a kids meal once it is picked up, and you aren't required to have a child present to order one, it's hard to see how ordering a child's meal for an adult at a CS can be "frowned upon."

Remember kids meals are really small. It's not enough for a lot of kids, even. If you have any kind of adult appetite, most kids' meals won't be enough. And be aware the kids' meal chicken nuggets are different (and much less tasty) than the regular menu chicken nuggets at most Disney CS.

Thanks for the info. It will hardly be something we do often but I can think of one day in particular that we are at the MK and have 5 p.m. ADR for Ohanas and I was thinking a cheeseburger kids meal for everyone around 11 a.m would be perfect. I've heard you need to bring your appetite to Ohana. I do know other kids meals would be a total waste of money. We have always overeaten every time we have been to Disney and are trying to pace ourselves a little bit more this time around. We are also planning on snacking our way around the world a little more this time so I figure that kids meals with more snacks in the park might be a fun change.

Thanks again,
Debbie

Sorry to hijack - but can an adult get a child's quick service meal on the dining plan if there are no registered youth on your package. We have 4 adults going in Oct. and using the quick serve meal plan. Very often I only want a children's meal. Will the cashier just count a child's meal against an adult meal credit or make us pay for it oop? Thanks!

The DIS Restaurant Board deletes any discussion of the possibility of using children's credits to purchase adult meals, because Disney's brochures state children must order from the kids' menu in restaurants that have kids menus, including CS restaurants.

As for the other way around, you will have to ask if you can use an adult credit to purchase a child's meal. Cashiers might allow it, or they might not because it isn't standard. But while Disney has published a rule that says you can't use child's DDP credits to buy adult meals, they have published nothing about doing it the other way around.

Children's meals at Disney are very different than children's meals outside of Disney. Have you looked at them? You may want to reconsider. They are made nutritionally for a five year old. Most adults need more food than that.

You can do it, I do it all the time. I don't like to eat a big lunch and I will either get an adult salad or a kids meal (usually at our resort). They are plenty big enough...but I avoid the chicken nuggets cause they are gross.

Because we enjoy the adult choices more, we will often order 2 meals and share them between the three of us. Just because you have 4 people eating, you don't have to order 4 meals at a QS. We then have can eat smaller meals 3 times a day instead of 2 on the QSDP.

Thanks for the help and replies everyone - looks like sharing with others in my party may be the better option.
