Question about ADRs

Iv'e read about people who have ADR for a certain time and then on that day, they call ahead and can get in a little earlier (provided there is room). I have some ADRs with pretty late seating (8:00pm, 9:10pm), and I'm not sure my children will be up to it. On the day of our reservation, if it looks like they are just too beat or hungry to wait till later, I would like to call ahead to see if there is anything avaiable earlier - where do I call? The ADR # or each restaurant seperately?

Also, can we cancel a reservation on short notice? If something comes up (exhaustion, melt down, over eating in the parks, sickness:sick: etc...), can we call that day to cancel an ADR? Will we get penalized? We are on the DDP.

This is our first trip to DW and I'm just trying to be prepared for anything. With little ones - you MUST be prepared!:goodvibes

Thanks,

call wdw dine to change/cancel your adr's. that is the easiest. or stop at any ts resturant or guest relations.

I'm afraid it will not be possible, especially during the Free Dining

Yes, you can without penalties. BUT some restaurants and all shows (that must be guaranteed by credit card even if you are on DDP) have 24H-48H cancellation policy.

Ok, Thanks for the info. :)

I really don't know what I would have done if not for the disboards. There is so much to do and see in DW, a first timer can become a bit overwhelmed. And to think I almost completely gave up on these boards because of some not so nice posters who thought it would be cute to bash on a newbie.:scared1:

Thanks again,

If you are worried about the late times, why don't you just call now or a few days before you leave? You will probably be less stressed if you can change them in advance. :goodvibes

I have been trying to - but to no avail. If I can't get in sooner when we get there, I'll just keep the ressies I've got. No big deal. I just was wondering if I could change them at the last minute if needed.

I may try again since we are only 5 days away :cool1: Maybe I'll get lucky.

Thanks,

You can always just take a chance and show up early too. We had a 7:50 ADR for Garden Grill but were already in the Land early for Soarin' fastpasses. We walked up at around 7 and asked if we could get in early. They said give us 15 minutes. It actually only took 10. I am by no means saying that this will happen every time or ever at all, but it is worth a try.

Remember, your kids may surprise you. When DD was 4 we could barely get her to sit still for dinner that late. There was too much other stuff going on for her to be interested in food. :rotfl:
