Question about adding Park Hoppers... (Robo?)

Hey all,

I threw together a Daddy-daughter weekend at WDW, mainly so we could experience Star Tours! just the weekend, and I'm trying to keep it on a tight budget. So excited, but then I realized I scheduled it so our MK day was... October 1. The October 1, 40th Anniversary. I'm hoping it's not going to be too crazy, but if it is we may choose to bail and head elsewhere, but it may be fine but our preference would be stay the whole day... Soooo...

Instead of buying Park Hoppers, I'm going to buy 2 1-day tickets for each of us. We'll use a 1 day ticket for DHS, which is fine, then a 1 day ticket for MK. Then, if it gets too crazy crowded at MK, I'll take my one day ticket to the counter and make it a Park Hopper for an extra $35 each. That way I'm not spending money on Park Hoppers I'm not going to use, and we'll have an option if the 40th day at MK is too crazy. 1 day park hopper option is $35, $55 for 2 day tickets and up. No way will we use the PH on the 1st day...

Will that be Kosher? The commercials at WDW always say you can add PH anytime you want- Will they let me buy a PH on the way out of MK, so we can go to EPCOT if we wish?

Anyone see a problem with my plan?

Sounds like a good plan to me, buying a 2 day vs a 1 day would have only saved you $2 that is literally not even a coke and then saving the $20 to add hopper. Actually is quiet brilliant if you just want to spend 2 days in the park and only hop one of them.

Great plan!! You can add hoppers at any time so I think it will work great!!

Yes it will work and its a very creative way to take advantage of the pricing policy that adding PH to a one day is only 35 versus the old 55.

Others will have to post on whether the 40th anniversary will add any crowds. It may just be a simple ceremony with speeches or it could be suddenly we have a big pink castle again.

Oh, no!! Please don't even joke about the big pink castle! I would die if they covered up the gorgeous Christmas lights for it!

And yep, we got the wonderful chance to see the pink birthday castle - once was enough.

Your plan will work. Just be aware under the new rules you will not be able to upgrade a ticket any day after all entitlements on it have been used up.

As you can see, it takes a CASTLE-SIZED event to upset my friend, Cheshire Figment.

Ok, I've read your post very carefully and now I'm a bit confused... Our Plan A will be to stay at MK all day, so I buy a 1 day ticket for each of us. MK stays calm so we stay the whole day, I don't have to buy a PH, everyone's happy. BUT- Plan B - say MK gets terribly crowded, we can walk out to the ticket booth, I can pay $35 each and upgrade my original 1 day ticket to PH's, and we're off to EPCOT.

Will they let me do that?

Would they consider those 'entitlements'? Now I'm confused...

1- Yup.

2- Yup.

3- Absolutely.

4- Don't worry about "entitlements."

Under the new rules, so long as you add the hoppers the same day you're visiting MK with those 1 day tickets, you'll be fine.

The old rules would have allowed you to upgrade the ticket even on day 2, up to 14 days of use. This is the piece that's changed recently.

Under the new rules, so long as you add the hoppers the same day you're visiting MK with those 1 day tickets, you'll be fine.

The old rules would have allowed you to upgrade the ticket even on day 2, up to 14 days of use. This is the piece that's changed recently.

That should work, even under the new rules. However, to be absolutely safe, I'd upgrade the ticket to park hopper before I left MK - at Town Hall Guest Relations. Then there won't even be a question.
