Question about adding on...

My husband and I are probably going to do an add-on when we go to WDW in January, we are thinking 120 pts, that would give us 270 total and enough to have 11 nts/year in a 1BR. WooHoo!!! I wish I could just call and ask DVC this question but they said, "we can talk about the weather" when I asked - I'm in WA state and we have these pesky timeshare laws. I don't understand why they are so restrictive, I've already bought in!!! Okay, end of that rant...

My question is this: I have an August use year so I will be in my 2005 year when I purchase this add-on. Will I get 2005 pts? If I do, will I have to pay dues on them for 2005? If I don't, do I only pay the maintenance fees for August on during 2006 (5 months)? Or is this something that there is no cut and dry rule for? When we bought the 150 pts this past Feb, I didn't have to pay any dues until August, but it was a slightly different story since the closing didn't happen until July when the unit was declared into inventory.

I don't really know the answer to this, but I can tell you their is a new promotion going on right now. 15% off a purchase of 120Pts at SSR only. So if you purchase another 120Pts you will pay $83.30 per point.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the dues; if they are requiring you to pay this year, or next year, and if you can use your points in 2005.

I have a March UY and am adding on next week while in WDW. My guide told me I will get 2005 points that will be bankable and prorated dues for the rest of this year.

Blame your state politicians! They are the ones that made the law that "protects" WA state residents from the evil timeshare salespeople! (Maybe that law is a good thing if you look at the big picture - not all timeshares deserve to operate unfettered, LOL).

I'm quite sure you will - you could even bank them if you like, since the 100% deadline for August use years is the end of January.

Dues go by calendar year, not use year. If you don't buy the add on points until January 2006, you will not pay any dues for them for the calendar year 2005. (That assumes you buy from Disney, of course). You will pay dues on the add on points (and for the other points you own) for the calendar year 2006. The dues for the add on points will be prorated from the time you sign the purchase agreement.

Best wishes -

Oh, believe me, I know it isn't Disney... they'd sell to me if they were able. Sometimes consumer protection laws just get in the way of my life, LOL.

Thanks, that clears up the dues issue. Now I just hope there is some great special running in January. I'm sure it won't be 15% off, but even just the 8$ off would make it worth it to me to not hassle with resale.
