Sorry but I couldn't find the answer for my question using the search. I have an annual pass and have room reservations for next month. Can I add the dining plan on when I check in or do I need to do it in advance. :confused3My DS says him and his wife have twice waited until check in to purchase the dining plan, with no questions asked, but my neighbor says I need to do it in advance. I know if I call Disney I could get 3 different answers from 3 different CMs so I figured I would ask here! Thanks!.

You need to add it at least 72 hours in advance. You cannot add it at checkin.

(DVC owners used to be able to add it at checkin, but I believe that's changed.)

As pp said you have to add it 72 hours before check-in date plus you also need to pay for it in full at the time you add it on

Thanks. I will make sure I do it in advance if we decide to go with it!:)

You will need ADR's for the TS restaurants before you go too. You don't want to pay for the DP then not be able to use it.

Also, you will need to have a WDTC package booked to add a dining plan. If you have a room only reservation, dining cannot be added.
WDTC sells AP ticketless packages. Hopefully that is what you have booked already, and not a room only.
Otherwise you will be booking a WDTC package and cancelling your room only.
Deposits for room only cannot be transferred to a package, unless paid by check.

Have no idea how they did that, unless they were DVC as someone mentioned.

Yes, they were DVC at the time so I imagine that is how they did it, but according to some of the above posts that option may also have changed. We were thinking quick service plan so ADRs are not the problem, but we have an AP and got the AP room rate so I am not sure if this qualifies as room only or technically a package. I will call Disney to get these answers today. Thanks.

Most likely you booked a room only, rather than a WDTC AP ticketless package.
You can tell the difference between them when making a deposit (what is required) and the remaining payment policies.

You can use the AP rate for an AP ticketless package, allowing you to add dining. It's a "room-only" discount to indicate that you will be paying full price for the dining plan, but you can make it into a package.
