Question about AAA discounts

Hi everyone.

Do you need to have a AAA member number in order to book a AAA discount at WDW or do you just show your card at check-in? We're car-free NYCites, so have no other need for AAA.

Sorry if this is addressed elsewhere, but I can't find it.

Also, does anyone have an idea what the AAA-discounted rate for AKL savannah view might be for January 2006?

You can join AAA after booking the room with the rate through Disney. You can not book a package, since that would have to be done through AAA and if you are not a member yet, that won't happen. They will ask for your card at check-in.

Historically, the deluxe hotels usually have a 20% discounted rate with AAA. I hope this helps. Maggie

Even though you would not benefit from the auto benefits (unless you are in a rental car while in FL?), the AAA membership usually comes with a "show your card and save" plan that will have discounts on hotels across the U.S. as well as discounts for merchants and restaurants in the state that you reside in. We have already saved half the cost of the card on dining discounts and have only had it a little over three months.

I called AAA direct a booked a package with them for Dec. at WL. I was told I did not have to be a memeber. I also got a 10% discount. The agent could not answer any Disney questions without calling Disney first so I know she is not an experienced Disney agent. I don't need the experience agent I just needed the discount. Sometimes they ask for your membership # when booking, sometimes they don't. As the OP said, your membership offers discounts for many, many things (restaurants, attractions, stores, motels other than Disney, behind-the-scene tours at Disney, etc.) all over the country so you can still benefit even if you aren't a car owner.
