Question about a twenty year old ticket?

My dad surprised me tonight and handed me a WDW 3-day Worldpassport that is about 20 years old.

It has a number at the bottom and just above that it has 1st day/2nd day/3rd day. It says it must be used by the same person for all days and is good at MK & Epcot but not MGM. It also says it is good for transportation? On the upper right hand corner there is a punch on it. Kind of a scalloped corner punch like you would do to a photo in scrapbooking.

Can we use this ticket when we go to WDW this January? There does not appear to be anything to scan so how will they know how many days are left? It says it is not good at MGM and I assume that is would also not be good at AK either then. How do they handle really old tickets? It also says that it is non-transferable but I was along for that trip 20 some years ago so it could have been mine-don't know for sure.

I know there is no way to tell for sure how many days are left but it does not say anywhere on the ticket about an expiration date. If it is good and it does have 3 days is there any way to get around the ticket only being used by one person? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Sue --
In general, I know that Disney honors all of its old
ticket media. There are others here that will be able to
give you the particulars about how you can redeem it
and for what -- I believe that you'll need to go to
Guest Services and trade for a current pass, but let
someone who knows for sure advise you on that.

However, I do have a question -- you say this is a
20-year-old ticket? And it has "Not good for MGM"
printed on it? I think you're either mistaken about its
age or someone is pulling your leg -- Disney-MGM Studios
opened in 1989, exactly 14 years ago this month.

I hope that this pass does have days left on it and that
you get to use them...enjoy!

On the back of the pass at the very bottom in very small print it says "1988 Walt Disney Company" but I was not sure exactly what that date represented. I was questioning my parents about when we went because I was sure I was still in high school which was about 20 years ago. They can't remember the exact date. It definitely says "not valid for admission to Disney-MGM studios". You must be right though and they must have gotten this ticket at a different time but I can't imagine when. It is definitely a mystery but it also looks like a real ticket-I sure hope so anyways that would be great.

I would love to find an old ticket like that! Hope you can use it! Good luck and let us know!

Me, I'm a sap. I'd probably try and find an old map and have them matted and framed!

We have a similar ticket with the three days that they stamp in, but it is from 1983. We only used two of the three days.

To me it is more of a collectors item. I wonder how much it would be worth on eBay?

It doesn't matter how old the ticket is. If it did not have an expiration date then it is still good. That particular ticket had three white spaces for the gate CM to stamp the date of each day you used the ticket. If there are no dates stamped on it, it should be an uused ticket.

What you'll need to do is take it to any of the Guest Relations windows at the major theme parks or to either of the two GR offices at DTD. They will exchange that ticket for a one of the current magnetic strip tickets that will have exactly the same number of admissions on it as your old one. There is no charge for this. Once you have gotten the new magnetic strip ticket, it is good at all 4 major parks. It makes no difference what the old ticket said about MGM.

Now... the only fly I see in the ointment here is the fact that you say the ticket has a punch in it. That was the way that Disney used to indictae that the ticket was used up. They would put a punch in the top part of the ticket. So there is a possibility that this ticket may not be any good. I just want to prepare you for that circumstance just in case. The folks at GR will be able to tell you definitely, though.

In any event, the ticket can only be used by one person per day.

Good luck!

Well, I can tell you at least that I used a ticket from 1987 a couple years ago. First, I just used it, had it stamped, and got to keep it, so it's still as much of a collectible to me as it was before I used that day. I'd found the ticket when cleaning out our old WDW stuff, a pass from 1987 that still had one day on it. I just went to the entrance of the MK, they hand stamped it (yes, they do still keep a hand stamp, just in case), then they opened the gate where they let strollers through to let me in. At the FP kiosks, I just showed my pass to the CM there, since obviously my cardboard pass wouldn't work, and they printed me out a FP. Just be forewarned, the CMs like to tease sometimes-about the 3rd FP place, the CM there told me very sternly that since it was such an old pass, of course I wasn't eligible for FP. When I started to argue with him, he laughed and printed out a FP. Later in the day I used the pass at Epcot, didn't even try at MGM or AK. It's really a conversation piece for some of the CMs who've been around for years-"How much was it? I remember these!" It was kind of fun using it.

I'm another one who would probably save it..... unless you really need it.

GoldenOldie: I have scanned the front of the ticket to see if you can tell if it is any good. The days are not marked off in any way. It does have that punch in the corner though. Sorry to all you who vote to save it but this can possibly save us money for our trip which is what we need. BTW the price on the back is $78.00 (sales tax included) Here is the link:

I am having problems with the link I will try it later

We took two old tickets, 10-12 years, that had one day left on them. We asked at the ticket counter if we could exchange the two for one day passes and it was no problem. We also asked if we could keep the old ticket for a souvineir and they took our address so they could mail it to us. Never happened. They gave us a 3 day pass and then adjusted it so only 1 day remained. That allowed us to use the transportation and see a little of each park.
By the way, before you think we are crazy to just go for a day like that. It was a day before catching the Magic for a 7 day Western cruise. Just a free day at the parks.

Use it and enjoy it.

I've always thought I should purchase 2 7 day PHP for each of our 4 DD's. We would give it to each of them for a wedding gift and send them on their way to a wonderful honeymoon! Wonder how much they would change between now and the 2 yo's wedding day? :D

That ticket looks virtually identical to ours. Definitely same style. Only differences are-ours was a 6-day passport with 5 days used (stamped-they put the stamps in those rectangular blocks). Also, since ours was 6 day, not 3, I think ours cost about $98 originally. But like I said, we just went directly to the gate with it, and never had to give it up (just to let some CMs look at it, who remembered and wanted to see them again). Fun to use! When we go in 2 weeks, we're going to try to use 2 more I found from 1987 with one day left, but they're children's passes, and our "children" then are now college-aged. Should be interesting-but I figure we have nothing to lose since we found the passes in our old Disney stuff and had already bought passes for this trip.

It sounds promising that it might still be good then since the ticket does not have any stamps on it. That would be so cool! My only question left then is if anyone knows what the punch in the corner might represent.

The corner punch is not one that was used to indicate the ticket being used up. I think you have a valid ticket to be used there.

Enjoy it. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
