Question about a new DVC resort to those that have been here awhile

Just curious, but does DVC let current owners know when they are going to build a new resort so that we can add on points?

I didn't know if they try to sell "in house" first before opening it to non-owners.

florida has some strange rules - the resort must be been built before sales can start. DVC is the only one I know that follows these rules....

so yes we do - they generally give us a 3 month (don't know where that came from) before the general public....

they also generally start with a better price.... then it goes up....

Oh spicey feline, I hate to disagree, but we forked over a big chunk o' change in September of 2003 yet SSR wasn't open for business until May of 2004. Unless by built you mean "a hole was dug and there is some framing" then they started selling before even one room was near occupancy....

We added on in late 2001/early 2002 (?) at the BCV. I thought it was available for current owners for a while before the general public but I may have that mixed up with another offer they did later at the BWV.

With all of the current DVC resorts, a public announcement has been made when a new resort would begin construction. Some were complete when sales began, but several have had pre-construction sales (SSR is the best example of this as noted by Dr.T). In the case of some DVC resorts, the "official" inclusion as a DVC resort was annouced well after construction began thus allowing DVD to get their registration in as many states as possible before going public with the sales. At times, sales had been ongoing for several months before residents in some states were able to purchase. (I think BCV and VWL may have had that obstacle.)

My recollection is that there have been no advance sales offered to existing members, except for the rooms added at BWV when the sales center was removed and that area was converted into villas a few years ago. There have, at times, been incentives offered to existing members that were not available to new purchasers , but there have been no early sales only for members that I recall.
