Question about 5 y.o. on SW Airline

We paid full adult price for his ticket. Are we going to have to show any kind of identification for him, like a birth certificate?
 
you will not need id for your 5yo... if you want to feel "better safe than sorry" bring a copy of his birth certificate... i used to do that when my kids were littler but was never asked for it! :)
 
ID's for children are only needed when they are travelling as a lap child. They have to be 2 years old or less, so a birth certificate is required. If you have paid for a seat for your child, no ID will be required either by the airline or TSA.
