Hi! I've been reading the stroller posts from the last few weeks and am now convinced that I need a Maclearn. However, I'm a little confused about the model. I've been to the Maclearn web site and can't figure out which one (the Quest or the Triumph) would be more appropriate for my son. Can the experts out there offer some advice?

My son is 4 years old and weighs 34 lbs. He doesn't have much stamina and likes to be carried after just a few minutes of walking. If he is really tired, he will fall asleep sitting up, but will sleep much longer if he is reclining and his feet are elevated.

My criteria in the order of importance are: reclining, comfortable for him to sit/sleep, easy for him to climb in and out on his own, easy to carry and lightweight, sun shade.

Can you please offer your advice?

Thanks!

I purchase the Quest for my ds. Actually both my 7 year old and 2 yr old fit comfortably in it. It has a canopy that is tall enough to accommodate my 7 yr old, Has 4 position recline (it doesn't full recline, but not bad). It has a small basket underneath that is difficult to access. I love the stroller and find it easy to push with either the 30 lb or 45 lbs child in it.

You can't elevate his feet in the Triumph, but you can in the Quest. IMO, the Quest is a better stroller in that it has a few more features than the Triumph. You can get them for about the same price. Look for the Quest for $129 at www.albeebaby.com.

Have you considered the Volo? I have one and found it to be perfect for our almost 3.5 year old to jump in and out of at the parks. Handles like a dream. :cloud9: You can get one for about $99 with free shipping online. I know you said if he falls asleep you'll need the recline but my 18 month old napped just fine in the Volo. With the umbrella sling seat, they are leaning back slightly and it's enough for them to keep from flopping forward. Also, I don't think they are going to be able to elevate his legs. The Quest and Triumph will for a small baby but for a 4 year old I don't believe it would be long enough. The seat on the Volo came up higher for my son where the Triumph his head was in the canopy area slightly.

I think your best bet is to go to Babies R us and check some out. I know ours carried the Volo and Triumph. The Triumph seat was smaller than the Volo.I also liked the canopy better on the Volo. It wasn't rounded and came out further. It's very light and has a great carry strap. It doesn't have cushy padding but is very easy to wipe off and I don't have to worry about my son eating icecream in it or popsicles.

I know there was a website somewhere that listed all their seat dimensions and weights but I can't find it at the moment. If I do, I'll post it for you to compare them if you want.
If your child was younger or you are planning more kids then I would go for the Quest or Techno but otherwise, the Volo rocks for older kiddos IMO!

Wow, 6 kids...I'll take your advise anyday as you must be an expert by this time! You certainly as blessed.

We have a babies r us close by so I'll stop in to see the strollers. You are right that I'm more concerned about his head flopping around than I am about totally reclining him. However, I know that he will sleep longer if he can recline. He doesn't have a lot of stamina and I would like him to have 1 to 1 1/2 hour nap if possible since we will be running like crazy and I'd like to have a few dinners out where he will be in a reasonably good mood.
Thanks for the advise.

LOL...yes, I have quite a herd and they are such a blessing. Makes for crazy times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

I have had many strollers and frankly you won't regret any Maclaren. I only wish I had gotten one sooner. I've never seen the Quest in person since our BRU didn't carry it. There are some good deals online at www.albeebaby.com for the 2004 Quest if you decide you don't want to go without the recline.

Its a really good idea to sit your child in both if you can. I did this at Babies R Us and found the Triumph seat to be smaller and at a different angle or something because DS did not fit in it well.
