Wow...does anyone else go to these places?

I went this morning. They open at 7. I got there at 6:55 and there were already 15 people in front of me, and about 30 more behind.

Guess next time I need to get there at 6:30!!

Been there done that. I can't stand Quest, but my insurance requires I use it. The Quest near me just started accepting appointments, but it hasn't helped much. They're still overbooked and you wait forever.

Oh yes...but now they are taking appts. on Saturdays, that might be better.

I must say though the staff was all very nice and they really do try to hustle everyone in an out of there quickly.

I was out by 7:45 which wasn't too bad.

I thought they only took appts. for Glucose tests??

Well, i'll just get up super early next time and be first on line.

The lesson I learned was NEVER go first thing when they open. They do a lot of blood draws for people who are fasting (can't eat or drink until the blood is drawn) so they get there really early and line up. I do much better if I take a late lunch and run by there around 1 or 1:30.

I refuse to go to Quest anymore. I have insurance through work and my DH's is secondary. They never billed my insurance and my DH's won't pay because it is not the primary...after over a yr. of telling Quest to bill my insurance they still haven't done it...and I am now getting letters from a collection agency. So I will be paying all my bloodwork test bills myself. (I called my insurance to see if I could submit the bills myself and was told I had to do that within 6 months of treatment) If Quest can't get billing correct, what else are they screwing up?

We have 2 here. One of them finally started taking Saturday appointments. If you don't have an appt. you wait forever.

I've found that the Quest I go to is seriously understaffed. They have the same people who are doing blood draws taking insurance info and doing clerical work. I always wonder how the heck they expect to keep things straight when one person is doing everything.

I liken the place to the cattle call at southwest airlines. Ours has a sign up that says you can go to another office if you dont want to wait at this one. I too decided to go a little later, even while fasting, I went around 9:20. No difference, still a zoo. They call you like a deli number now. Gee, the state of health care.

Very. I always feel sorry for those girls. They've told me that most days they don't even eat lunch.

I use Quest and they are fine. I usually go around 3:30 in the afternoon. As another poster said, the worst time to go to any lab appointment is first thing in the morning. All of the people who require "fasting" type tests are there. I think any time after 10:00 a.m. is best. I usually only have about 3-4 people in front of me whenever I go (which is at least every 3 months).

My experience with Quest is horrendous. When my son was sick with a fever for 4 days, lethargic, we had a blood count done and Blood cultures and urine culture. Now I know that the final result on a blood culture takes 3 days, but Quest opted not to call the doctor with the results of the blood count until the blood culture was done. After being a total PIA for 2 days they finally sent the blood count results to the doc that they had been holding for 3 days. Yup, Mono!! Cultures negative! Their track record for reporting abnormal blood work is horrible!!!The delay resulted in my son being on antibiotics that he didn't need.

No, Sat. isn't any better! DS went on a Sat. and it was just as bad.

My doctor sends my blood work there on a monthly basis. So, while I seldom go to the lab itself, I do have plenty of dealings with them. A word of warning. They frequently mess up the bill. I only have a small co-pay, but it is almost common to receive a bill for services already paid for, months later. If you do not keep on top of it, it is very easy to pay the same bill twice. Granted, not so easy if you only have a couple of tests per year. But if you are using them frequently and all the bills are for the same amount, it is very easy to pay twice.
