queso fundido at la hacienda

We were in a spot of needing to add a dinner at Epcot and my child has decided that this is his top choice (I'm not sure why but maybe because he knows that mommy loves margaritas, lol).

Anyway, he is a pretty picky eater but one of his major food groups is "molten cheese." Is the chorizo and poblano in the queso fundido mixed throughout or is it just kind of piled in the middle, and if it is - do you think i could get it on the side? We are on DxDDP and he has already picked my appetizer out (it looks like much to much for one person anyway) if I can't get it on the side, could the kiddo eat around it and just consume cheese without the spicy stuff?

Every review I've seen on this raves about it (would not be my first choice, but doubt I will come away from dinner not stuffed anyway) but before I order it and have a disappointed kid I just wanted to ask. It kind of LOOKS in the photos like the spicy stuff is just piled in the middle but no one has any pics of it all pulled apart.

I don't eat sausage and I remember trying my DHs so it must be piled in the middle. Noted this is NOT queso like at the Mexican restaurant. Its not liquid at all. Just a big dish of melted cheese so very gooey.

yes I did see that in the reviews, thank you. He loves quesadillas, mozzarella sticks, grilled cheese and stuff like that so I'm sure he will be fine with that aspect. I did show him pictures and warned him that it is not liquid cheese. he doesn't care, he was drooling on my keyboard, lol. He might even like the chorizo if it's not spicy but the poblanos will be a big fat no. If he can eat around them it should be fine.

When we went it was throughout the cheese....my kids wouldn't eat it...but we did and it was really good! I did not think it was all too spicy and it did not feel like there was an over abundance of chorizo or peppers in it...just sprinkled here and there but it would have been difficult to pick around it...otherwise my cheese loving kids would have demolished it!

We did not ask if they would get it without it though so I don't know if it is something pre-mixed but it couldn't possibly be pre-made or it would be hard as a rock by the time it got to the table so it might be possible to get just a plate of melted cheese...I should have thought of that!
