Queen Elizabeth funeral and looking forward

What uniform is Princess Anne wearing this evening? I can't find any details , just pictures or general talk of wearing military uniforms.
It took me some serious digging, but I found it. She wore the same uniform to ride in the Trooping of the Colour this year, when it was identified as the uniform of her honorary position as Colonel of the Royal Horse Guards of the Blues & Royals Household Cavalry. So, despite the bicorne hat, not the Navy. (This is the same unit that often wears metal breastplates and helmets with horsehair tassels.)

I have told this story before but a few years back we were traveling through Toronto. During a layover in the small airport on the island we were just hanging out in the waiting room waiting for our next flight when suddenly my Dad told me someone famous was sitting next to us. Turned out it was a former Canadian PM. Just sitting there like a normal person. People kept coming up to shake his hand, etc and we saw no security detail to speak of.

That would NOT have been the case if a former US President were there.
Which PM?

I vaguely remember your story; wasn't it John Turner or Paul Martin? Some of our former Prime Ministers remain in politics and are still MP's after their party is ousted. Others retire completely to private life, quite unlike former US Presidents. They don't have any on-going public roles nor do they have (or need) formal security details.

I'm amazed no one has posted this:

I'm also shocked that no one has fixed the standard
on the Queen's coffin (it's still as it was left after they took down the guy).
I'm so glad the nut wasn't able to lift/knock the coffin over!

I feel badly for the little girl,
and also for the family of the Queen.
That must have upset them terribly.

It looks to me like he was making a grab for the Crown Jewels. Yank off the banner and maybe they would fall toward him within reach.

Of course, only an idiot would think that you could actually sell any of them, but perhaps the idea was to hold them for ransom. Or, perhaps it was meant as a protest re: the origin of some of the stones. (I have to say here that I think that the stones that were taken from former Empire nations without compensation probably should be repatriated now; the good will would be worth far more than the stones themselves.) Or of course, maybe he's just mentally ill.

Luckily, the coffin itself weighs close to half a ton because it's lead-lined oak; it would take more than one person to knock it over, thank goodness.

It’s the middle of the workday here (and we don’t have the day) but may try to catch a bit. I have fune

I literally walked into Brian Mulroney in the lounge in the Montreal airport (he was coming from the elevator and I was coming off of the stairs and looking for my boarding time on my boarding pass). He did have an Air Canada agent with him (who was not impressed with me), but no one else (and she left once he was seated). I didn't notice anyone coming up to him while he was waiting for his flight.

Oh, wow! I feel bad for the young girl who was pushed, she looked like her face was a little bruised. 😣

Overall I think the people of the UK for the most part have been amazingly civil! 👍🏻

The end of that article had some information on the uniforms:

Which military uniforms were the Queen's four children wearing at the vigil?

King Charles

Dressed in a Navy Admiral's uniform

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal

Dressed in a Colonel of the Blues and Royals uniform

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York

Dressed in a Navy Vice Admiral's uniform

Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex

Dressed in uniform as a Royal Honorary Colonel of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry.

I didn't see the events of last night, but honestly, what a numpty!
BBC reporters have been speaking to people in the queues regularly and there seems to be a very good atmosphere, lots of camaraderie between folks. People who have never met each other before, building up friendships. But then I guess standing next to the same people for 8 / 10 / 15 hours it was bound to happen. Even in death our Queen is bringing people together.

My London friend queued for about 11 hours. She joined the queue around 8 pm after work last night and was out Westminister 9 this morning. She said it was one of the most amazing experiences ever, never felt more British. Everyone was polite, there was a good mood and atmosphere. Brought tea and biscuits.
One interesting she described was that her brain basically shut off, she didn't notice any tiredness, the only thing that was going on was The Queue. When there was no queuing anymore, her brain started to realize what had happened and she got tired very quickly.

Looove David Beckham. I wonder if I’m gonna regret late later in life not flying to London and trying to stand in line. It would’ve made my mom‘s life but she’s a little bit too old so I was thinking about looking into how the handicap line works. But flying to England for this from the continent I think it’s just not gonna be feasible at this point Notices already went out that expect last minute canceled flights on Monday due to airspace/ airport restrictions . So I guess most Head of State Ignored the recommendation to fly commercial.

I was watching some of the lines they were showing on TV. It seems like the line is steadily moving all the time. Which just makes me wonder how so many people can physically do it?? I mean are people literally standing for 12 to 24 hours without any type of a sit down? At least if the line is stopped you have a chance to sit on the ground or sit on something. Even for a younger healthier person that’s crossing the limits. ???

I know they have Porta pots everywhere in places to buy food and drink so are people just jumping at a line for a few minutes to take care of things and then come back and is that even possible?

Is it possible to briefly leave the line and return? Yes.
They have issued numbered and colored wristbands to assist with place in line.

I am humbled at all the folks lining up to pay respects. If I was there, I would too. What an amazing experience. I was wondering how they handled bathroom breaks and eating as some will be queued up for over 20 hours. I saw on BBC there is a handicapped queue. I don't know the criteria for getting in that line or how you prove you need that line, but when they showed it, many were in wheelchairs, using seeing eye dogs, canes etc. Glad they have that as it would be difficult otherwise.

 Odd in what way? They estimate upwards of 300,000 people will file past the coffin; are they all odd? Some right here on this thread would probably be there if they had the opportunity.
If I happened to be vacationing in London right now, I might be tempted to join the queue.

Double post, so I’ll add to it.

I’d pay £500 for someone to wait in line for me, then swap places with them moments before entering. ;)
