Queen Elizabeth funeral and looking forward

Some report she passed a 1/2 hour before William, Andrew, Edward and Sophie arrived. (Minus Harry) I’m not where I can look at the time line but I will admit it’s all over the place. At least the others spent a great deal of time with her over the course of her illness. I’m sure that was a comfort to the Queen and her loved ones. You can often determine when a terminally ill person has a matter of days or hours left. Sometimes you can slow down the process so the family can gather to say goodbye. That went through my mind when reports were hitting the news

Thankfully she didn’t die alone. I remember that being my grandmother’s greatest fear…MIL’s too . I spent the day with dad and he passed 15 minutes after I left. Spent a solid week around the clock with my uncle. Stepped into the next room to answer a phone call and he passed . It’s hard when a family has one or two who want the focus on them and not the one who is dying. It shouldn’t be like that IMO It creates a lot of unnecessary drama and heartache. I can’t imagine what it’s like on a world stage.
Again can we stop with the H and M bashing. You have no idea what happened and are just making up drama about them wanting "the focus on them". It has nothing to do with them or if they were with her. Remember Peter, Zara, Eugenia, Beatrice, Louise and James weren't there either. Neither were Mike, Eduardo, or Jack.
The only reason William and Harry were asked to come to Balmoral immediately is to be with their father as he became King.

Tight restrictions are in place due to space limitations at the funeral service. As such, only one representative per country, plus spouse, is being invited. No other family members, entourages, or former leaders are permitted to attend. Heads of state are being asked to fly commercial and Heathrow will not be accommodating private jets. The use of helicopters is banned for travel within the UK and foreign dignitaries will not be allowed to take private cars to the service. They will be transported in groups by bus.

Queen Elizabeth plans funerals the way I plan holiday gatherings with certain family members — You’re technically invited but it’s kind of obvious I don’t actually want you there.

If you see pictures of when she spent time with the PM on Tuesday, you'll notice that she had lost a noticeable amount of weight. Also, the back of her hand was significantly bruised (from an IV??).

Above all else, the Queen was a monarch of duty. One of her duties was to greet the new PM. As she was still alive, I imagine she ordered everyone to get her to the point where should could discharge this one, final duty.

She was a remarkable leader. To paraphrase an old quote, "We shall not see her like again."

Laughing with you, not at you. These emojis are open to misinterpretation.

It doesn't count for royal families. The Dutch Royal Family is going with King Willem Alexander, Queen Maxima and former Queen Beatrix. So one too many 😉

Beatrix was apparently a good friend of the Queen and occasionally went over to London to have lunch with the Queen.

I am curious if the Japanese Emporer will come by himself or with his spouse. When the Empress did accompany him to the coronation of Willem Alexander as a huge exception (she doesn't go out much due to anxiety issues), it was major news and the amount of Japanese press in the city was amazing.

Maybe Queen Beatrix is invited as a friend, not head of state. I expect she is mourning the loss of a friend and a contemporary.

My friend (a nurse) honed in right away on the back of her hand. IV seems like a reasonable possibility, also wondered if maybe she was on blood thinners.

Former nurse here too...and I would say it was most likely a bruise from an IV. People as old as the queen don't necessarily need to be on blood thinners to bruise like that.

More evidence of a "catastrophic health event".....Jenna Bush Hager was with Charles night before at a dinner. She was at their estate and had a long planned interview with Camilla the next day that was abruptly cancelled. Camilla didn't make the dinner that night as her flight was delayed but Charles told Camilla was really looking forward to the interview the next day. So, clearly the Queen had some sort of an event...likely a heart attack or a stroke that ended her life suddenly.

I think it was nice the queen was at Balmoral, a place dear to her, when she passed.
J. Bush-Hagar will probably get her sought after interview sometime in the future. Maybe 2023?

An interesting part of the story, too, was that staff were running around the house in sort of a panic, and Charles was on the phone in his study, which was next to the library where she was, so she couldn’t help but hear the commotion, but they also came in to tell her and her crew that he had to leave because The Queen was ill. She’d been waiting for Camilla to arrive (interview was technically with her) but she was delayed so Charles had been contendedly talking to Jenna instead. At any rate, it does appear to be confirmation that the Queen’s illness that day was sudden and unexpected.

Yes...she was with Charles the evening before and then the next day waiting for Camilla to arrive for their interview....then the commotion at 12:30....and then she was told they had helicoptered off to be with the Queen who was ill. So something major for sure. Hopefully Anne was with her, and if not she obviously had staff that had to have felt like family for her.

It's kind of interesting that Bush-Hagar got the interview at all. Unless they felt comfortable with her as the child of a former President? I mean, I haven't watched the Today show in years, but isn't she like the 3rd or 4th hour anchor of that show? Maybe she'll still get that interview as this story is out now....if it hadn't leaked like this, I'm thinking Savannah Guthrie would get it.

So Princess Diana is wrong too? She should have been call Princess Charles?
In my understanding, yes. She was Diana, Princess of Wales, NOT Princess Diana. If you wanted to address her as princess the proper form would be Princess Charles.

Only those born as princesses get to be addressed as Princess Name. Anne, Beatrice, Eugenie.

But almost everybody takes the shortcut and IMO it’s no big deal even though it’s not “proper.”

I think the connection is books. Both Jenna and Camilla run online book clubs. And Jenna’s mother, former First Lady Laura Bush’s platform was books. The plan was that Jenna was going to interview Camilla about her book club.

Charles is looking pretty exhausted. It’s been a long several days already, with more to go. After that he’ll be working almost non-stop, I’m sure.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Sept. 19 will be a federal holiday to mourn Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her state funeral, and that his government is working to co-ordinate with the provinces and territories.
