Queen Elizabeth funeral and looking forward

To add to the unusual ways some companies decide to pay their respects on the 19th.

Center Parcs is going to close from 10a.m. on Monday for 24 hours.
For those who don't know, Center Parcs is a holiday park with cabins in a wooded area, with restaurants and entertainment onsite. Quite popular with families, multigenerational family trips and such.
Guests who have booked the 19th are asked to leave the park for 1 night and return again on Tuesday. Or cancel and get a refund, or a partial refund if you cut your holiday short.

I linked the daily mail article a few posts back.

Apparently Centre Parks have had a bit of a rethink, and are now allowing those guests who have booked for the week to stay on site, but no facilities will be available to guests such as the pool etc. They are also still getting a partial refund.

Example 1528 of why the UK declined into irrelevancy.
It would have been funny is you had used 1776. You missed a trick😉.
When you write your wedding invitations, Christmas cards etc., how do you address the envelopes to a married couple? And to a divorced woman who continues to use her ex husband’s name? And to a widow?

I do wish that the media would stop using their long lenses to get photographs of the teary Royals.

Rightly or wrongly I've always assumed that your differing attitude to such subjects was due to having a Germanic background as your screen name has Oma (German for Granny) in it.
Nothing wrong with that, obviously, just something that I've noticed a number of times over the years.

No, no German blood in me at all - I didn't know Germans as a whole had a differing attitude? For me, it was the Diana/Charles deadly fiasco. Letting Charles be an adulterer with Camilla, not telling him to keep it in his head, and even letting either marriage occur at all. I believe it was her greatest failure, and it cost a woman her life. While the rest of her reign (and I'm puzzled what she did besides the celebrity thing of meeting with people, being in ceremonies and cutting ribbons, etc) was done with a certain dignity and lack of scandal, I'm not impressed with how her two eldest sons turned out and don't see the reasoning behind the zealous adoration. But I get that some parts of the world love the pomp and ceremony of the monarchy. But how about the imperialism?

And why I continue on this thread? Because not everyone has to be identical in order to have a conversation (on a discussion forum) and I continue to learn from these types of threads. I don't have to approve of the monarchy in order to have a conversation about it, including the life, death, and funeral of Queen Elizabeth. She was an important part of history, for being a long-lived monarch, etc. I don't like a lot of the main figures in history, but I learn about them and form opinions from their actions. I hope everyone does?
Some report she passed a 1/2 hour before William, Andrew, Edward and Sophie arrived. (Minus Harry) I’m not where I can look at the time line but I will admit it’s all over the place. At least the others spent a great deal of time with her over the course of her illness. I’m sure that was a comfort to the Queen and her loved ones. You can often determine when a terminally ill person has a matter of days or hours left. Sometimes you can slow down the process so the family can gather to say goodbye. That went through my mind when reports were hitting the news

Thankfully she didn’t die alone. I remember that being my grandmother’s greatest fear…MIL’s too . I spent the day with dad and he passed 15 minutes after I left. Spent a solid week around the clock with my uncle. Stepped into the next room to answer a phone call and he passed . It’s hard when a family has one or two who want the focus on them and not the one who is dying. It shouldn’t be like that IMO It creates a lot of unnecessary drama and heartache. I can’t imagine what it’s like on a world stage.
Sometimes a person needs to be alone to let go - at least that's how it was explained to us when my dad was in hospice. I had kissed my dad on the head and whispered "it's okay Dad, if you want to go, I love you" the night before, and had returned the next morning. I went in to check on him, let him know I was there, and he was still breathing, still alive. I told him my mom was on her way in too, and I was going to go make a cup of tea and walk her in. He passed while I was making the tea. But he knew I was there, and that I loved him.

Thank you for answering. I don't understand your need to laugh at my honest question though.

Turn on the tv and listen to what people say about her. Today for example, we heard a lot about how she played an important part in the conflict in Ireland/Northern Ireland.

She inspired, she was a constant factor in people's lives. Where politicians divide nowadays, a good royal family can unite. And if you are open to see it and not get stuck in history from 25 years ago, you can see that in Charles, in Camilla and in William and Kate. Kate's work for the development of young children for example.
Today a UK tabloid had a headline saying 'Camilla didn't destroy the monarchy, she saved it'. By bringing attention to certain causes which improve people's lives.

Politicians have no time for that. They are too busy thinking about themselves first and peole second. All PMs have spoken about how they valued the Queen as an impartial spokespartner during the audiences.

As mentioned our queen was in the US last week. Her talks in sillicon valley will bring in 10 to 20 million euro they calculated because she can open doors in trading negotiations. And, as we say in the Netherlands, she wasn't just a salesman, but also a vicar on her trip. How many politicians can talk to the governor of Texas about abortion rights and not get chased out of the state?

That you and others in this thread don't understand how a monarchy can add value to a country doesn't mean that it is bad or to be laughed at.

I wonder the same about 2 of my earlier posts in this thread.

That really nothing to do with the Queen herself and respect she garnered from others.

It's one thing to go toe to toe with some other governor of some other state or your opponent in an election. It's another for any person in the political realm, leader, figure head, or representative to go up against another leader, figure head, or representative of another country.

That's just politics (and diplomacy on a general level). And one that the U.S. is by far not the only player out there.
True, I meant it as an example how royals can open doors that are closed for others.

Back to topic, the processional today starts at 2:22pm London time. (9:22am eastern, 8:22am central)
Looks like CNN will be proving coverage this morning.

Would BBC America carry coverage? CNN talking heads tend to politicize everything and it would be nice to simply watch the event respectfully.

I'm fairly sure this mornings events will be covered respectfully.
You have additional live options using YouTube. Sky News Live and Royal Family channel will both cover.

I have been bouncing between the live feed on NBC and CNN (exact same footage, different anchors narrating).

I teared up at the footage in Scotland the other day, as well as this morning's processional.

No need to use Mr. and Mrs. Husband’s Name

Mrs. Alice and Mr. Ralph Kramden

If they had divorced or if Alice became a widow:
Ms. Alice Kramden

I am glad there are a few days between the procession and the funeral. The entire family looks exhausted and like they could use a little time out of the public eye to rest. You can almost see it as a physical weight they are carrying as they walk the procession.
