What happens now? They are currently driving to Windsor Castle I believe? Are the rest of the proceedings private?

The committal service at Windsor will be televised.
When the Queen is interred at 7.30pm it will be private.

There is an accessible queue now. There wasn't one at first. But some people just werent able.

There always was an accessible queue for the Lying in State. You had to have a letter to state what the disability was and then you were given a slot to come back at.

Was going to take my mum to the Lying in State Saturday but after the queue lengths on Friday we decided against that but went to view the flowers in Hyde Park & Green Park. Green Park had thousands of people and had to close for a few hours.

One of the historians interviewed, mentioned that the Queen did not express opinions in public and hoped that she kept personal diaries. That would make a truly fascinating read, if they are ever made public.

They are driving to Windsor. I am watching CNN's coverage and they keep showing shots from inside St George's Chapel so I'm assuming there will be news coverage of that ceremony as well but I'm not certain.

I think we'll see the service....but I'm not sure if we'll see The Queen lowered into the vault/crypt...or if that's just for the Royal Family. I'll have to catch that part later. But it was lovely to chat with you all while this moment in history was unfolding. As others have said....we'll never see anything like this again. Thanks to mom2rtk for starting the thread ten days ago...and for all who respectfully participated .

...but I'm not sure if we'll see The Queen lowered into the vault/crypt...or if that's just for the Royal Family.

The BBC reported that the Queen will be lowered into a vault during the service, but later raised and placed in another vault with Prince Philip, Her parents and Princess Margaret.

Found the answer to my question - the Phillips granddaughters were not in attendance.
Little surprised that the 11 year old great granddaughter wasn’t as she was at Prince Philip’s memorial and at the vigil the other day.

The little girls looked quite upset at the vigil, so perhaps their parents felt that the public service would be too much for them.

Once again, huge respect to King Charles and Princess Anne for walking that procession at their ages. They have done their Mother amazingly proud.

I thought the same thing. Also her first cousin, The Duke of Gloucester , who walked it and he is 78 years old.

The casket being lowered through the floor is both a striking and heart wrenching moment.. I remember it with striking clarity from the funerals of The Queen Mother and Prince Philip. The keeper of the crown jewels will remove the Crown, Scepter and Orb and the King will place the queens standard on the casket before it is lowered.
The next time the Crown, Scepter and Orb will be at the coronation of the King.

Unfortunately, we probably won't see those in our lifetime. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Queen Victories private diaries only recently were released and that was like 150 years ago.

It's been a long 10 days!! I really hope they are able to rest and recover in some way. I think Camilla really needs 2/3 days just to rest.

In a way, I don't want to know what the Queen has thought about various things that have occurred during history. It adds to the air of mystery about her and her never explain mantra. ( Although yes I would secretly love to know what she really thinks about Meghan lol!)

I mean this is no disrespect to you Brits out there but I’m kind of getting tired of your new PM.i mean she is everywhere. And she’s only PM for one week and because Johnson quit and her party choose her. They could have chosen many others with historical/ personal value over her for this reading.

I suspect that the protocol just says "PM does this reading" without consideration that there may have been a new PM just days before the Queen's death.

The journey along the Long Walk up to St. George’s chapel is going to take 40 minutes.. There are 250,000 people lining the Long Walk this morning, they cut off the admittance about to the area about an hour ago. The PMs, Governor’s Generals, other dignitaries have now arrived.
