Well, I guess she made her son happy.
I don’t mind.![]()
Don't worry you already have 2 Canadians on this thread, more will join I'm sure (as seems to be the case). You'll be set straight on your opinion of the royal affairs lickety splitApparently Queen Elizabeth has given the nod for Camilla to use the title of Queen when Charles ascends to the throne.
Not a fan.
Oh OP I didn’t realize you were British!

Yep. And Charles has loved Camilla for 50+ years.I agree. I think it was for Charles sake. If Diana was still alive, maybe things would be different as she lost so much when she and Charles divorced. But, life goes on. Diana isn't here and she's been gone so long that an entire generation don't really know her.
What's best for the monarchy is to show tradition, (the king gets a queen - and this was the one he would have originally chosen if he had had a chance.) And that old bygones and really need to be let go. The monarchy is for William & Kate too. They don't need public comparisons constantly of how Kate will be a full queen, yet Camilla is just Charles' consort. Let Camilla be queen.
Well anyone can agree or disagree with anyone's opinion, but that wasn't actually part of my cheeky comment..it's just a pattern of past monarchy threads along with the completely non-subtle way one chose to respond. For the record, I agreed with one of the Canadians.![]()

As far as I read Camilla can be referred to as Queen Consort. Camilla isn't nor will she be full queen. She will be a Queen Consort. They don't need public comparisons constantly of how Kate will be a full queen, yet Camilla is just Charles' consort. Let Camilla be queen.
You know, I'm not 100% sure. But I'm pretty sure I've seen some Canadians post opinions on American things before. I'm so confused.Don't worry you already have 2 Canadians on this thread, more will join I'm sure (as seems to be the case). I don’t think that the Queen would care but a few on this thread sure do seem to.I’m sure the Queen will be quite upset to hear you don’t approve,.
If he's truly going to be king he would look worse off if this didn't happen before hand. I still have the maybe American, silly belief that Charles and Camilla will hold the title technically for a short time and that he hopefully abdicates to William before any formal coronation events.Apparently Queen Elizabeth has given the nod for Camilla to use the title of Queen when Charles ascends to the throne.
Not a fan.
Now how will she be called by people? Probably just shortened to Queen but presently as least the "Consort" part is very much a part of it. And it's an important distinction. I think the reason why this has made such news is it's the sanctioning the Queen is giving, something of which she has been mum's the word before and probably goes a long way into how people perceive it.
If by tournament, you mean bloody and often protracted war, then yes; and there was a bit more to it than jousting. Your way sounds fun though! They need to have a tournament to see who takes the throne. There used to be a bit of...turnover...as to the family that held it, right? Jousting and everything. Open to whomever.
The term "consort" isn't a slight against Camilla in particular. The spouse of the Monarch is always referred to as the "Royal Consort"; just as were Prince Philip, and Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. It would have been the same for Diana. The position doesn't confer any powers of State but in recent history they have all been very beloved public figures.
The only way to become the actual King or Queen is to inherit through the line of succession, which is why the surviving spouse of a deceased Monarch doesn't ascend to the throne. The widowed Consort is then known as the "Dowager" and the spouse of the new Monarch becomes the Consort.
