Queen bed - pipe dream?

We had an amazing time this month at the Cabins, but the full bed was a huge downer for us. I felt smooshed every night, and DH and I are NOT big people. I was wondering why some cabins don't have queen beds? Lots of us don't need the bunk beds and/or extra full bed in the living room.

Room317,

I don't know the answer why but I think your suggestion is an excellent one. For the dozens and dozens of cabins, there ought to be a couple/few with the queen bed in the back (and the murphy bed up front for a capacity of 4). That would offer some variety in the cabin arrangements (at least more than there is now). I myself think they would be popular. While it would shut out groups with 5-6 people, it would appeal to folks who would appreciate the privacy and extra room.

Have you ever thought of writing a letter to WDW with that suggestion?

PS - sometimes funny things happen to indicate that Disney checks its fan boards (the DIS) and occasionally acts on what they read. We've talked about obscure, detailed things here and two weeks later, WDW management alters it - it's kinda spooky. So I will add,

"HEY GUYS, how about it? Who wants to make the change and be a hero?".

I don't understand why full-size bed are even made any more!

Won't the new cabins being built have more room and most likely a queen bed ??

The bedding configuration is the reason we have not considered staying in a cabin. I would love to see some different options!

I would imagine because a full-sized bed is plenty big enough for one person (unless it's a tall person who could benefit from the extra length of a queen) and not everyone sleeps with someone. I will concede though that hotel rooms should probably only have queens and some kings.

A queen bed would be nice, but if I am staying in a cabin with 5-6 people I would rather have a second bathroom (or minimally a 1/2 bathroom!)

Are they really building new cabins?

betmust,

we had one person some time ago in a cabin thread relay a story that they talked with a CM-type at the Fort who said the cabins had reached the end of their useful life and were due to be replaced. Nothing has happened yet and there was a little speculation about whether they would be replaced like-for-like or with changes (a second bedroom, an additional half bath, etc).

I wouldn't hold my breath just yet.
