My tomato plants appear to be ready for a winter sleep. They had been giving me a few new ones up to this past week. I'd brought them up on the deck and they were sheltered so just kept on growing. No big freezes here yet. I also had a couple of pots of annual flowers that were doing well. Not so much anymore. I'll re seed them in February-March and start again.
You guys on the Eastern shore must have had much milder weather than those of us on the Western side. My tomatoes were done by the middle of October. Weather here is miserable, cold, windy. and it's actually snowing! :(

Good morning after Turkey Day. Weather has turned into winter. Cold and windy all day yesterday, we high a high of 36. Winds were bad all night. This morning it's 29 heading for 34, windy and snowing lightly, little round balls. Tomorrow and Sunday will be 42 and then it gets cold again with 1-3" on Tuesday. Dave and I are crossing our fingers that the winds will die down so he can get the steps done.

My dinner was good, I ate too much and didn't have room for my blueberry cream cheese pie for dessert. I was so tired I had a hard time keeping my eyes open until 11. Didn't hear from either of his boys, which I expected, I'm nothing to them anymore. Summer did text around 5, she was still slaving in the kitchen with no help. There's no excuse for that. Lily was working, but Gracie, her bf, Summer's oldest and next oldest son and his gf were there, along with her husband. They should have all been helping. She's supposed to call me today and fill me in on the whole car buying story.

I have 2 not so smart outdoor cats, including the kitten. They've slept on the front porch on a chair for the last 2 nights, in the cold and wind. There's a heavy afghan on the chair, but still, it's been too cold. There are 2 covered boxes on the front porch for them, and 2 under the front porch. I just put an old mattress pad and another blanket under the afghan to make it warmer. I tried to get the kitten to come inside (I'm guessing it's about 3 months old). She comes to the door and sticks her head in, but as soon as I go to pick her up, she backs away. She does let me pet her and pick her up before I put breakfast out, so I'm going to have to try and get her in then. I just don't know how she's going to interact with the inside cats or them with her. 3 of them would probably be fine, but the other one (she looks just like him, they have the same mama), would be the one to chase and torment her. But I'm going to keep trying. Mama knows where to go in the winter, she's been here for 4 years. The other outside ones know where to go also. One was under the front porch in a box, one goes in the cat house and the other into the new shed.

The only thing I plan on doing today is writing out Christmas cards while watching some Christmas movies. I have a few gifts to wrap that need to be shipped in early Dec. If I want to venture out in the cold I might go see Wicked for Good again tomorrow. I listened to both soundtracks yesterday while cleaning, before I put on Christmas ones to do the tree. It feels funny to be all done with everything the day after Thanksgiving, lol

Have a good day everyone. Good luck if you're venturing out to do shopping. Stay safe!

Happy Friday afternoon, friends with love. Dad and I were extra blessed to spend time together yesterday. I also got to wish several favorite people here a Happy Thanksgiving which meant a lot. Today, I had a good therapy session. Dad and I are currently waiting for a Walmart delivery to come here (I had a promo code on my account).

Have a wonderful rest of the day. I will check back later.

DH and I took some Christmas boxes out of the attic this morning, then had leftovers for lunch and watched one of those holiday baking competition shows. I spent the afternoon packing up the fall and Thanksgiving stuff, plus another bin full of things that I put away temporarily to make room for Christmas decor. I put a couple of things out, but I'm done for the day. - One step at a time.

Good evening slipping thread save. Dear PollyannaMom, amen to one step at a time. It's not always easy to practice but can make such a positive difference to do so!

Dad, thank God, is safely home. We are praying to get our deposit back from Empire. Our experience with them has been disappointing. We most likely will go with Lotus because everything about them has been superior to Empire. Joe, who came to our apartment and met my Dad, was very thorough and nice. Plus, for less money, we will get our entire apartment re-floored including the kitchen area with our stove and fridge along with our bathroom. Lotus will also handle all furniture moving and repositioning. We expect to choose a final floor color on Monday. I will share when we do.

Meantime, we are hoping M, the kind head maintenance man here, will be able to come out to our apartment to both look at the floors but especially the bathroom doorway. He is so skilled that if the super narrow doorway can be safely widened, he would absolutely be the person to trust to do that. We will talk with him again on Monday, too.

Therapy-wise, also on Monday, I will be receiving an update from N, the ombudsman. She has been fantastic. We are still fighting for me to get daily, Monday-Friday, OT and PT. Right now, at least thanks to God using N, I at least have one or the other (if not both) Monday-Friday. That was a huge win and improvement.

The other main thing for me is to either get a new roommate finally have my current roommate's dialysis pick-up time changed from 2:40am three times a week. That is just outrageous.

Dad prayers always most appreciated. Thank you all. Good night and sweet dreams.

Good morning. The day is dawning at 25 degrees, heading for 41. The winds have finally disappeared. Will be partly sunny, and hopefully either today or tomorrow (45 with slight chance of showers) Dave can finish the steps. Before the temps drop again and we get snow. If not, I want him to take the framing off and just leave the steps as they are until Spring. I need those steps to be functional for deliveries and for me to get the mail without walking a longer distance in bad weather. (I have to cross the street to get to the cluster mail box).
I texted Summer yesterday morning, got no answer. Called her at 11. No answer, no voice mail. Messaged Lily, who got hold of her. Summer texted back "Call you in a little bit", well it's the next day and still no call. I give up.

I wrote out Christmas cards yesterday, and watched a few movies. I was in bed and asleep by midnight. I did too much at one time on Thursday and I'm still paying for it, lol

Have a nice last Saturday of the month.

Happy post-thanksgiving weekend all. Hope you all had a cheerful day. I’ve got my turkey cooked down and turned into soup already. Put into containers & in the freezer. Got fridge cleared of leftovers… seems odd as I am usually cooking a mountain of food, but given our small group for dinner and knowing no one would be home this weekend I intentionally tried to cook a minimum amount so as to avoid leftovers for once. Still, weird! Got 3/4 of my fall stuff put away and a few Christmas items out. I’ll finish that today.

Might need to run out for a few things later this afternoon- wish me luck🤣🤣

Hmmm if I may offer a different way to approach this situation? I’m sure your roommate and the nurses, aides and transport folks would rather be doing this at a different time as well. There are obviously circumstances dictating the need for this, maybe so many people are in need of this and there are only so many nurses & aides to go around to assist that this is the only time slot for your roommate to utilize? I would gather that in a perfect situation both you & your roommate would be able to have your own rooms with whatever you wanted/needed whenever, however the reality is that is not the case for either of you (nor I’d guess thousands of others given the nurse shortage) so you’ll need to work with what you do have, recognizing that it’s not perfect for you or others. But I have no doubt the nurses, Drs& aides are doing the best they can with what they have to work with, within the budgetary & bureaucracy infrastructure they have to contend with.

My family member w/ cancer continues her treatment. She’s resting from 10 days straight of radiation, and will have a scan of some sort (PET? MRI?) next week then I think start infusions. She’s not in any pain, just has no gas in the tank, so that’s something to be appreciative for. It’s definitely a situation of trying to halt or slow progression vs cure given the advance stages & multiple locations. I think the discussion of good time left vs time left on medication and feeling poorly may soon come up, and that’s ok. It’s not anyone else’s decision to make but hers even if we all have opinions, and you know in families everyone has opinions 😝 it’s all good though, children, son in laws, grandchildren, in-laws, out-laws, friends & neighbors have rallied and she knows we are here for her and are giving her her space she wants right now. My sister in law is her primary caregiver & driver to all medical appointments so she’s not got to worry about any transport at all. Plus my brother & SIL are all set up to move her in to their place w/ her dog once she decides that is the best decision for her.

I think we are looking at about 40 or 45 degrees here but hopefully not as windy today. Then rain tomorrow. I may need to bring some more firewood up from the barn, I’ll see how the day goes.

Off to get this day started- first up, unload dishwasher & switch laundry. Have a good day everyone.

In the 30’s here. We have a dog walker coming to be with Bonnie today for a bit, as it’s a friends’ get together day here. One friend had a knee replacement in October and she can get out to lunch finally, and another is staying with her son, and she’s from NC. So, there’ll be 7 of us at a diner near Bordentown, NJ. We’ve all been friends since the 1970’s!

Bonnie is a pit bull mix, and we are surprised how cold she gets. Her fur barely keeps her warm. Gus’s coat doesn’t keep her warm at all. A new one is coming for her today.

Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning. It is chilly here in the 30s and windy. I have been doing errands and some Christmas shopping. Almost done. My walk in closet looks like a disaster hit. I need to organize before wrapping. I decorated my Charlie Brown tree yesterday. Looks fine to me. Dinner at Kenny's was fine. Too many people for me so I took a walk after dinner. When I got back they were all getting ready to go for a walk so I went along too. Got alot of steps in. Quiet weekend. My NH friend keeps telling me I need to relax and recharge after yesterday. This past week has been crazy busy for me with baking, working, doing errands, walking, and just continuing to move to keep busy. My body is telling me ENOUGH! So maybe later today I will take it easy. I still have some housework to do and walking to the mailbox.

Have a good Saturday.

I am upset with Dave. I texted him at 9, no answer. Called him at 10, no answer. He texted me at 11 that he was out hunting, first day of rifle season. He was back at the car for something and was going back out for a few hours. By the time they're done, it will be too late to do the steps. He had to have known on Wednesday when he promised me that he would be here on Saturday, that it was the start of hunting season. I was so mad, I went out and took the frames off and threw them in the side yard. I had 4 big boxes coming from Chewy and a big box from USPS and I wasn't about to make them walk up the driveway to get to the front steps. If they don't get done until Spring, there's nothing I can do about it. At least I have steps to use, even if we have to be very careful on one because he chipped off so much of the bad stuff that there's only half a step.

Summer finally called me back too. She had a flareup Thursday morning, and after cooking dinner, she was down for the count. Her youngest son's gf has covid so they didn't show up.
She did get the car from a dealer, it was a trade in, the guy didn't even know it was on the lot until she asked to see it. Looks and runs like new, only issues are a cracked passenger side of the windshield which she has to have replaced, and it only has one key, so she has to have another one made. He was supposed to get her out the door, tax, title, and registration for the amount they agreed on, but all he did was give her a temp 45 day plate and she has to have everything else done, and inspected in WV.
I bought myself a new stereo system for Christmas, so I've been setting it up and playing Christmas music.

Have a nice rest of the day. @Snowysmom You've earned a day of rest, so have I, lol

Lynn Hope you got some rest.

Mona Thinking of you.

Pea Hope you are resting and relaxing and enjoying holiday time.

Good morning. It is 30 here now with temps staying in the 30s. Snow is coming on Tuesday into early Wednesday. They aren't giving amounts yet but I am in the area they say will be 3+ inches of snow. I moved into an area of Mass that usually gets the most snow unless it is a nor'easter then the coast mainly gets it where is where I used to live. Can't win in New England. At least the condo complex has a good snow removal company, at least they were last year. I guess Tuesday will be a stay at home day. I really need to get an exercise bike. Yesterday I did alot of housework and errands so by mid afternoon I was achy and tired. I ended up taking it a bit easier for the rest of the day. Today is a new start so we shall see where I go with it. Kenny called me last night to ask if I was free on Saturday evening at 6. Of course I am as always. He and Jeff are planning something for my milestone birthday. I am not a fan of big celebrations and would just like pizza and cake with the kids and grandkids. I am almost afraid to find out what they are doing. :rotfl2: I attached a picture of my Charlie Brown tree., not the best picture but it shows it off.

Have a good Sunday.

Early good morning. I went to bed late, and didn't sleep well. Have been awake for an hour. Had another bad dream that woke me up Too many of those lately.
33 now going to 46, calm before the storm I guess. Potential for 1" of Tuesday, but for me that doesn't qualify as a storm. Just enough snow to be annoying, lol.

Dave never did get back to me yesterday, I personally think he owes me an apology, not that I'm expecting one. If he wanted to, he could come today in 46 degrees and finish the steps, but I'm not holding my breath.

Summer texted me late last night to tell me that her mother's stepdaughter's husband was found Friday in his burned out truck, too badly burned to be identified until yesterday. They don't know what happened yet, but what a horrible way to go.

Not sure if I'm going to get into anything today or not. Last night I picked up an old cross stitch project to see if I could finish it. These old eyes can't take too much of the close up work at one time, but I got a little of it done. I might be able to finish it for my best friends birthday in February, lol. Definitely won't be in time for Christmas.

@Snowysmom I don't think your tree looks like a Charlie Brown tree, I think it's pretty and shows has far you've actually come now!

Have a good last day of November.

I agree! And Snowysmom you’ve inspired me to finish up my holiday decorating today. I wasn’t feeling it but seeing your tree 🌲 is helping get in the holiday mood.

It’s a gloomy, dreary day out there here on the Eastern Shore. I’m enjoying my coffee with a hiccuping bull terrier on my lap. Once I get up get moving I’ll start a fire and get this day started.
