Dave texted me and said he was going to come and do those steps today. I told him no. It's scary windy out there and I wasn't about to stand out in the wind helping him. He may come tomorrow (only going to be 46 but not windy) or on Thursday when it's 57. I told him that would be the best day. Then they will have time to set and not have to worry about rain the day after. Men don't think sometimes! lol

I watched Merry Little Ex-Mas on Netflix. It was cute, but predictable, same vein as most Hallmark movies are.

Making a meatloaf for dinner. That will give me a couple of nights of leftovers, and a couple of sandwiches for lunch.

Dog paid me back twice this morning. He doesn't usually roll over and wake when I feed the cats as it's 5-6am. This morning after I fed them and while fixing my coffee, I got my reward. I had to put him and his crate out. He sleeps in the crate with the door open but I have a fence around the whole area so he has freedom. He came out and saturated about 4-5 pads, which leaked on the edges. Put him on the windy deck and before coffee, had to sop up the pads, mop up, spray, mop up again and get it as dry as possible. I have ALL wood floors downstairs except the bath.

Stayed patient - he's old, fed him and let him outside again. Finally had my coffee!

Back in the kitchen with my cup and he's wet another pad, but this time it didn't require all in cleaning. If I vent a little here it reminds me that I have to stay patient. He's been good for many years and now has a problem. Thankful for Chlorox urine destroyer - I keep 4 bottles on hand because sometimes it sells out at my Target.
Is it time for doggie diapers? So you don’t have to worry as much? God bless you for caring for him. It’s hard when they get old or infirm.

I bought diapers probably a year ago for son’s dog. She visits a lot, and is young, but she would pee in the house. Idk if she was trying to mark or what. One day she got upstairs and actually jumped up on our bed, peed, and soaked it! :scared1:

I was nervous having her in the house - watched her like a hawk and let her out constantly. Finally got tired of all that vigilance and bought the diapers. It was kind of comical because they were really too small, but I had her wear them anyway. Never had another incident. (And only wore them that one time.) I still don’t trust her completely but she’s better.

Well Toto went missing today! We looked all over inside and out. We were worried he somehow got out of the yard, but sometimes he’ll go under the deck or under the bed and hang out there. He wasn’t there, though. After a frantic search DH finally found him down in our storage room, patiently waiting. I’d gone in there for something earlier and didn’t realize he must’ve followed me in. 😮 I thought he was with DH, and DH thought he was with me. So he was in there for about 3 hours! Came out all bouncy, almost like he was laughing, too, but then he went outside and had a long relief session, lol. He’s 12 this month and drinks a lot of water. Had some concerning kidney labs which I have to have rechecked. So poor guy, he was probably thirsty and needing to go, but he hung in there!

Dog is 16 now. Sometimes he appears confused. About an hour ago DD was taking him out, as in opening the door and walking onto the deck with him, and he came with her, walked all the way to the steps and then ran back inside and peed on a pad! I don't mind picking up the pads, just don't want it getting into the wood floor.

Diapers are out for him as he's the anxiety guy who gets scared and snaps! He has to be sedated for grooming and needs a pill just to get in the car with us. He'd probably bite if I tried to get a diaper on him.

On the other side, I do have to diaper the youngest of my old cats and have been doing it for years! I use baby diapers, cut a hole for his tail and tape it up with the clear tape. When it gets wet or dirty he sits in the bathroom and waits for me. At first I got scratched up, but we are on the same page now. I resorted to this after he ruined an Ethan Allen area rug and since I didn't see it fast enough it stained the floor underneath. Since then, new flooring laid. Expensive lesson! Also I only use the thin and washable rugs now.

Wow! You do love your pets! I give you a lot of credit for accommodating them! (And in thinking about it, it can be said of so many of us here.) We’ve done similar things. One of our Shepherds couldn’t walk in the rear (well, two, actually) and DS and I used to carry her out front every morning on a beach towel when DH got up and try to stand her, express her bladder, then tickle her butt so she’d poop on demand, otherwise she was incontinent. Often we had to take her up into the tub afterward, too, for a wash down. It was a lot, and actually why we went to a smaller dog, and got Toto. (Of course, I missed my Shepherd so we rescued another!) We’ll see how it goes w Toto as he ages. He’s been such a good dog overall.

The way I feel is I took the responsibility for them and so long as I can do the work, I'll keep them safe and well. And I also love them and get a lot of attention back from them. DD is wonderful with them also and we share looking after them. She does it on her own when I'm traveling.

That said I'm not going to rush out and replace any of them when they leave this world, but DD may want to get another pet.
