@Snowysmom You're right, not a good start, but look at it as to what is going to go right, instead of wrong. Your friend should be more diligent about reading emails, and should have followed up the day before you left to make sure the rental car was still in place.
I hope the rest of your trip has a better outcome.

Good morning, 49 now going to 62. Got to 72 yesterday, it was nice to be able to open the windows again for a day. I did mundane things, cleaned and WD40'd all the ceiling fans, changed the filters in all 3 cats water fountains and the water pitcher in the fridge. I checked the Xmas lights to make sure they worked, and put them up while the weather was so cooperative. Then I went in the cellar and gathered more trash to put out, I'm making progress except for the yard sale pile, still waiting for the guy to call and come back to see if he or his friend wants it or not. If not, I'm going to put a few things out at a time with a free sign on it at the end of the driveway to get rid of it.

Sat on the deck with a cold glass of lemonade in the afternoon and enjoyed watching the birds, and the cats running around the yard trying to catch them (they didn't, lol).

Putting a small pork roast in the crockpot for dinner. Will have plenty for leftovers this week. I don't think I'm going to get into much else. I added Apple TV to my Peacock subscription because it was only going to add $4 a month to the cost. I'm watching Palm Royale, it's kitschy but I'm liking it.

Have a good day

Slipping thread save with as always all my love. Antonia is coming back on Tuesday morning. Dad, tomorrow, will be following up with Rob our floor advocate. I will be making a few health care related calls myself. I am very thankful to restart therapy tomorrow. Finally. I will sure give it my all for however long I am here. Sweet dreams everyone.

Good morning, all 🌅

Still not fully adjusted to the time change, so I've been up for quite a while. But I went to bed fairly early, so I'll probably be fine. It was nice to start the day quietly reading a book.

I have a class at the library this morning, then the afternoon free. Need to do a bit of housework and come up with some inspiration for dinner.

Mona Hope your therapy goes well and your advocate can help with the flooring issue.

Good morning. It is 51 here and temps heading to 73. The car worked out as the place we got it from is a car dealership. Nice ride to Sedona. My room is quite a hike from my friend and the main hotel area but it is adding up the steps. Met the program leader and she is kind and very knowledgeable. The women in the group seem nice. Today is stretching, yoga, art therapy, and meditation. Maybe I will finally learn to relax. Jeff’s family is recovering from a stomach bug.

Up early and just waiting to go to breakfast. Have a good day.

Love is that you made it to your destination with all the chaos!

Yay and just enjoy rest and relaxation dear Snowysmom and a change of scenery too. Have fun prayers my friend.

Dear Pollyanna, early morning reading sounds peaceful. I pray it was.

Dear Judique, prayers always for you, too, you know that.

Monday joy to all. More later.

Good chilly day. Only going to be 40 today and it's windy on top of it. I put an extra tarp over the cat house yesterday, the new kitten has been hiding in there, the youngest of all of them is the smartest, lol.

I'm going to put some heavy duty plastic around the bottom where the legs are so they can do underneath if they want to be outside but still have some protection. I also got out the new heated water dish I got them, I'm tired of having to go out every 2 hours in the winter to get frozen water out and add more warm.

I just did a walk around of the yard and on one side I have 2 rectangular wooden boxes that Don built years ago, maybe 3 feet by 2, and there are still blooming petunias in them. With all the frost we've had, I'm amazed that they're still going, lol

He's been gone 2 years today, hard to believe that time goes by that quickly.

Have a good day

Met the program leader

I can't wait to hear about what you thought of the program and what all went into it! Enjoy your time there!

Amazing how fast this difficult time has gone by so fast. You've been a great example of keeping yourself motivated, I particularly enjoyed that you mentioned you & your friend had a conversation planned soon to discuss your next travel destination. As it happens, as if often happens! my husband is on his way up your way as I type, I booked him into the Hampton Inn in Frostburg...not exactly the Taj Mahal but it's the Hilton property for up there and we had points...he's making a pit stop there for the night, stopping at the farm to put out one of his trail cams and say hi to his uncle, then going over to the Greenspring, WV area to check on his folks, clear out their gutters and haul some old furniture to the dump for them before heading home. If all goes to plan he'll be home by dinnertime. He's been known to do that trip up and back in one day but with the time change and it getting darker earlier and going to the farm he's just going to go up tonight. It's getting to the point where his folks can't really take care of their place any longer, and although his mother has accepted that his father hasn't so we are hoping to cajole them into coming around to the idea of moving to a more appropriate place for their needs over the course of the winter. It doesn't help that the closest family member to help them is 3 1/2 + hours away.

So the pups and I will chill out by ourselves this evening. Chill out being the operative word and it's rather chilly! Fire in the fireplace for sure tonight! I made chili yesterday afternoon, we will have that for dinner tomorrow night.

Have a good afternoon everyone -

Thank you for the kind words. It hasn't been easy, but at my age, I only have so much time left to live my life. I can't live it in constant sorrow, I have to find the joy to keep going. The last 7 years of his life, we weren't able to travel anywhere, so I'm making up for lost time! I've seen the Hampton Inn, nothing in Frostburg is the Taj Mahal, but it's not the worst one you could have chosen. I hope he has a safe trip.

Thanks! yes, he'll make out just fine:tilt: plus I'm supposed to give him a call in a bit and let him know the agenda of a meeting we are lucky enough to have to go to in Dublin in March, it's so nice to have some travel to look forward to! And I totally get making up for lost time, we kinda approach travel these days as doing while we can in case we can't later. I hope later comes a lot, lot later down the road!!!!

Enjoy every moment dear, dear Quacker family. There really is good in all. I so admire each of you for faithfully living that way in kindness.

Dad got parking resolved for both Antonia tomorrow and Empire next week. Rob, our floor advocate wasn't available when my Dad was there but we know Rob will absolutely follow up with us. He has been fantastic.

Horribly my situation here continues to get worse. I will have more final decision information by Friday. I am purposely not being specific for privacy reasons. I prefer to keep details by PM. Thank you all for understanding. Please pray our floors get done next week and that goes very well as we fully expect it too. As soon as they're done, Antonia can come back and help my dad get our apartment back in order. Dad and I will be extra grateful to God on general always and all ways, and for His blessing of one another this coming Thanksgiving that is for sure. Love and sweet dreams to all.

It's a cool morning! Actually 32 degrees going to a high of 45. Higher winds expected.

Checking over my taxes this morning as my state kindly sent me a letter asking for more money.

Turns out they are right and I am wrong. I multiplied line 21 instead of line 20. Check is in the mail to them. Well not quite as it can be paid electronically and that's what I did. It cost me a small amount of interest owed but no penalty if I pay within a couple of weeks. Done. So far I have refused to have a professional do my taxes or to use software. They are pretty simple. I've been corrected before. That was in my favor and I received an unexpected small check/deposit. I'm sure I'm annoying someone though.

@Snowysmom hoping you can relax and enjoy your vacation now that matters appear settled.

I'm off on my next trip to the Mouse in just 3 weeks. My travel buddy is still working. She was retired and went back to work to take care of necessary home repairs. Roof, doors, etc. Hopefully she can join me for end of January trip. Each time I have a studio but with the newer Murphy beds there is a comfy place for each of us to sleep. I take the Murphy as then I can flip it up early, fix coffee and get online or go walking for exercise. I get out of the room for this usually before 6am.

@easyas123 your husband is wonderful to care for his parents so nicely. Sometimes you can find people who will do trash runs, etc but you/they are not ready to give up control. My 87 year old neighbor is now living alone and driving himself mostly, but his 60 something son seems to come by a lot. The son has a large home in Calvert and I wonder if the Dad will go there this winter. Not asking any questions but the son has literally had a second job doing care for his folks for the last couple of years. It must be stressful for him and his wife but they are loving and giving of their time and energy. Outside work is taken care of by people next door. Inside is taken care of by an adopted DD. Son accompanies for medical. Still, a lonely life for my neighbor and a lot of patience and giving (of time) from family. (Not financially, at least that part is not a need.)

Spent part of Sunday with Son and family. DGS is getting ready to walk. DGD was upset the day I babysat because she came home from nursery school expecting to spend time with me. I had another commitment so had to leave about 30 minutes later. So I got the text of please come back on the weekend.

Lynn :grouphug:

Mona sorry things aren’t not going well. It may be time to get home sooner rather than later. Maybe see if if you can get home therapy.

Busy day yesterday with stretching, art therapy, yoga, listening skills exercises, and dinner . Tomorrow I am opting out of yoga and going for a long walk. I don’t get on the floor and there was not much modification for chair yoga . I prefer to walk and the program leader is fine if people want to opt out of an activity. Today is qi gong and walking in a vortex area in the red rocks. Jeff and family are feeling better.

Have a nice day.

Good morning, 27 degrees going to a high of 37. It's also very windy. I went outside to check on the cats late last night. Tiger was asleep in the leaves in the deep window well of one of the cellar ones, Another was asleep on one of the deck chairs (??), I saw one going into the door of the cat house, so I got a flashlight and peeked in and 3 of them were curled up in there asleep. I came back around the front of the house and there was some snow on the front steps, way too early!

Summer has to drive her husband back to Cincinnati today. I told her to use the rental this time. All of his stuff is clean and she doesn't need to worry about getting creasote in the rental. She won't have issues with the car, and will get better gas mileage because it's not a gas guzzling 8 cylinder like her old truck. Whether she listens or not, who knows.

Mona, I agree with snowysmom. Get out of there sooner rather than later. Stop delaying the floor installation, and you can be home before Thanksgiving, thanks to Antonia helping with the apartment. You'll feel so much better and sleep so much better when you're at home.

Have a good day

Thanks everyone. Floors will be done in a week. As I said once that happens and the apartment is put back together my coming back will be much easier. I had hoped to be able to get support and therapy here because of the indoor walking space I do not have at home. Horribly how I (or anyone) should be treated is not happening so....moving positively on. For this moment, I am still here, so I need to make, "here," be better. That's the plan. There are many lovely workers so I am blessed by positive folks. Happy Tuesday to all.

Good morning!

DS showed up here unexpectedly this morning with his dog, which was a nice treat. (He was injured at work 😖 so out for a few days.) DD made us breakfast egg sandwiches (DS’s and mine on raisin bread) they were so good. Trying hard to be mindful of my eating and keeping it healthy. Drinking lots of water, too. I’m getting a little swelling in my affected arm (lymphedema) which they thought might happen after radiation, so I have to wear a sleeve for 12hrs/day (and it’s hot and uncomfortable). I have a lymphatics PT appt later in the week where she actually measures the fluid as part of a study I’m in. It’s been creeping up since before surgery but I can tell it’s probably up even more. She said drinking plenty of fluids is actually helpful but I aim to watch my salt intake. Have been staying away from snack-y type foods that are loaded with salt. (Strangely, I’ve been craving movie type popcorn :confused3 but I don’t dare.)

It’s really nice this week not to have to run off to treatment every day. Still ‘burnt and beat’. A nice thing that’s happening today is that, through a cancer foundation grant that a social worker set me up with, a team of house cleaners is coming in to clean my house! I am very happy and so grateful. 🙏 I love a clean house but this year I haven’t had been able to deep clean it. So this is really wonderful. I’m waiting for them to come now. They’re doing everything but the bedrooms (which I’m still working on, so decided to leave them out) and the downstairs half bath/laundry area, which we keep up with pretty well. So the living room, kitchen, sunroom, family room and full bath, and I added the windows in the sunroom and the oven (some of which I’ll cover the cost of myself). While planning, the company coming in offered DD a decent price to do her apt while they’re here, too, so she decided to go for it. With working FT it’ll be a nice treat for her, as well. She’s been so good to me all year. What a blessing these foundations are.

Glad to hear everyone’s good postings. Hard to believe we’re already into the holiday season! Believe it or not I think I have most of my Christmas shopping done - only because I’m keeping it very simple. My main gift for everyone is tickets to Disney on Ice, which worked out well. We’ll go shortly after Christmas. (I’d been looking at Beauty and the Beast tix but they were ridiculously expensive and shows weren’t until April/May. I think Lion King is also in town but Encanto’s more appealing.) Got a few other things for everyone and will probably pick up some more things for the kids if I see them, but this year I’m keeping a list so I remember what I bought and won’t overshop.

Wishing everyone a nice Tuesday! 🐣
