Good sunny morning. Another scorcher on tap with no rain in sight until next Wednesday or so they say. It will be 95-98. I did yard work after dinner last night so at least it looks nice, if not a little brown. The grass needs some rainfall. The garden however loves this weather, as do my flowers.
Ben and Luke stayed at their mother's Tuesday night and until almost 11 yesterday morning. Summer came before they got here, and when the boys got here, they spared us a whole 20 minutes for a visit. Then they left and went to lunch with Mary, her grandson who's staying with her, and one of Luke's best friends. All I can say is that the family drama and war has resumed, and they've dragged me into it.
At the crux of a lot of it is that I found an old tea set with a lot of pieces in the basement the other day when Summer and I were going through boxes of stuff for the yard sale, and I came across an old tea set. It was very pretty, and I couldn't figure out why Don had it. Those boxes have never been opened that I know of. They were in the basement when we moved from the other house to this one 23 years ago. They are old, and from England, and worth $$$. Summer sent a picture to her mother, because she knows a lot about glassware and dishes. Mary says they belong to the family, (they were one of Don's great grandmothers) and that I can't sell them, unless I sell them to her (all she wants to do is resell them on Ebay for more money.) First of all, they are my property now, not hers. She left that when she divorced Don. Anyhow, she told Luke about them, and now he says I can't sell them either. Summer wants them for her kids and expects me to keep them here for her, one of my SIL's wants to buy them, and I never even said I wanted to get rid of them. The ensuing texts and phone calls went on all afternoon, until I told them to leave me alone.
I'm not giving them, or selling them to anyone in this family (including Mary). It would just cause more drama and dysfunction. They can all be mad at me instead of each other, I don't really care. I'm selling the tea set to a local tea shop. I know what they're worth from doing research. I'll decide what to do with the rest of the set when I get around to deciding. It was just a very aggravating afternoon, so much so , that for dinner I had ice cream, lol!
Off to get laundry done and wash the floors.
Have a nice day, stay cool
