Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning and welcome to summertime. We may hit 90 today with a chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Neighbor started spreading the compost last night after it cooled down. There is a lot more than it looked like, lol.

I got a sunburn yesterday, didn't realize it was quite that warm. I put aloe on it last night and it's starting to fade already.

No yard work for me today, off to the market shortly.

@Kirby --I'm glad that things seem to be going in Carol's favor. Her ex sure feels like a piece of work.

Have a great day!

Good Morning🐥:grouphug:

Quiet Wednesday morning here. I'm so grateful dad is staying home today. We're waiting for Sparkletts to deliver. I'm enjoying the Guideposts Lent Devotional and would recommend. Each day has a very short story followed by related Scripture suggestions. Wish Guideposts offered more smaller, paperbackbooks like this one, very lightweight and easy to hold sitting here on the couch :)

Extra :hug:Kirby to you and your family. I'm extra grateful to God that by His steadfast protection and love to read your shares of things moving more positively forward for Carol and James. 🙏always so very deeply for peace and a childhood only filled with faith and unconditional love for your precious grandkids. Thank you also for the Vaseline tip. I will pass that onto my dad. He uses a Burt's Bees Foot Cream that he likes after his evenings showers.

:grouphug:Snowysmom, God Bless Kenny indeed, what a thoughtful son as he should be for you, his loving mom!🐇🐦:cheer2:May seeing God's springier creatures bring you, my friend, extra peace and reminder that no matter what He is by your side as is His Angel Chris. I'm sure your homemade with love mac and cheese will be delicious. Enjoy it and time with your own precious grandkids.

:hug:PollyannaMom, get some extra rest and downtime today please. ⚾team :cheer2:for the kiddos this afternoon. Prayers also it warms up out there to make both playing and cheering much more enjoyable.

Lynn:hug:,and as always that you take care and that Don is having a good Wednesday as well. By now, I hope you're 🏠from quick and smooth shopping. Enjoy 90 for me! Oh no! I'm sure sorry you got a sunburn. Grateful to hear it's fading. I need to be sun cautious, too.

Have a good afternoon everyone. Do, read, or watch something that brings you extra cheer. I will check back later.

Its sunny, hot and 90 degrees. This is crazy. Someone remind me never to go grocery shopping on a Wednesday just before Easter. I haven't seen the stores this crowded since Christmas time. The parking lots were full, people were bumping into each other, shelves were empty, prices were up, was such a fun time--NOT! I bought a small bakery carrot cake for Easter dessert. Since it's just the 2 of us, we didn't need a bigger one. Off to figure out something for dinner. Have a nice evening

@Kirby, so happy to hear your good news regarding Carol’s ordeals.
@Snowysmom, in my prayers, I remember not only the friends here, but also the people they know who need prayers. I’m so sad to learn of the young man’s passing.

I haven’t been on boards much, but I’ve been busy with things, and for the next three nights our oldest son Matt, and his youngest, Maura, 18, will be visiting us! My Sister, her Honey, and we have plans for this Easter weekend, mostly to be together on Thursday, but Friday some of us are going to the Franklin Institute to see the Disney 100 exhibit! Saturday we will have our Easter Meal together. We will go online to St Patrick’s Cathedral for their 8:00PM Mass. Tom and I fly to WDW on Easter for 6 nights. We’ll be celebrating our friends 44’th wedding anniversary on Friday. These friends are the parents of the bride who’s wedding we just celebrated in Santa Barbara.

I didn't think Southern CA got that much rain!
We normally don't. LOL I know we need it but yikes...maybe spread it our throughout the year and not pound us all at once. LOL I think all the rain is over for now.

Auntie I can’t help but thinking your mood could be hormone related? Peri-menopause does weird things to us. There was a large peri-menopause thread here, you could do a search.
Yea, that's what I'm thinking. I've been dealing with some other stuff that my therapist thinks might be menopause related. She said my anxiety being so bad right now could be a result too. I have a Drs appt tomorrow so I'm bringing it up along with some other stuff. I've got a list I want to talk to her about.

Well good morning(probably afternoon now for most of you). I went to the grocery store and Target for Easter basket stuff yesterday...had what I was making for dinner last night when DH called right around the time I was going to start to ask if I would, pretty please, drive down( 1 1/2 hour) to bring him some stuff he needed. He was expecting to come home today but they got extended to Friday and even if doing laundry while he's been gone, he needed some supplies. LOL Since I missed him, I didn't mind. Got her in time to have a dinner and drink with him at the hotel before we went to bed. I'm doing another load of laundry for him here before I head home. He gets pretty gross where he's working right now so I wanted to make sure he has plenty of clean stuff.

@Kirby glad to hear things went in your daughter's favor at her hearing.

So I started and thought I hit to post this morning but I guess I didn't. Also seems I also lost some of my reply when I come to see this still in the reply box, which is weird. Can't remember what else I wanted to say....oh well.

Made it home, brought DD and I sandwiches from a favorite place about halfway between where DH is and home. We love it but don't get it often so that was a nice lunch. Dolly was very happy to see me. I don't know how she's going to manage when DH and I are both gone the entire week.

Hope you all have a great evening.

Lynn, you and Don just enjoy your 🥕:cake:treat! I'm sorry the stores were so crowded and pray you are done needing to go out now through the weekend!

:grouphug:Bobbiwoz, we've missed you. Praise God for such wonderful family and ::MickeyMofun to come friends, too! I'm truly so happy that you and Tom are able to enjoy getting out and making new memories together including with family and friends you so care for which as you know is something extra to cherish from God. Stay safe and have FUN.
I'm grateful also to God that :car:you are safely back home, AuntieMe3. :dogdance:love.

Sweet dreams everyone with love.

Happy Easter and enjoy your Disney trip plus all the time spent with friends and relatives!

I'll be going for Moonlight Madness in May for a 6 day trip. This was unplanned until I saw availablity for May 11 at Vero for a 10 point standard room. I then proceeded to book Riviera and the Swan for 10-13, and will probably throw away the Vero room. unless I can get the 11th on site, then I will rebook the points.

My friend who went with me in November will be with me. We seem to travel well together. I used free nights for the Swan so it's a very inexpensive trip. Mostly gas in my hybrid and we will each pay for our own food. We will also have our cooler and snacks packed, like waters, cheese and fruit and granola bars.

Staying over in Florence on the way down and 'wherever' on the way back. I booked a free night at a place I've stayed before but they haven't updated in a while. I will venture the first night and if it is okay still, I'll book it on our return also. This is to use up some stray points I collected years ago.

Well, at 5:30 this AM I looked out and realized our company, DS and DGD slipped into our house overnight, and not even Gus was awakened!

It’s a beautiful day here in Cape May. I wish a good day to everyone!
Gus probably said 'don't wake anyone. It's our sleeping time.' I'm guessing he knows your son. My dog will bark to high heaven for strangers and for other events, but when my son went to the Casino, won some money for me, and used his key to enter after midnight and leave my winnings on the kitchen table, he didn't make a sound. Son had not lived in my house since 2015 at the time.

@Snowysmom - was looking for your morning post but than realized you had to leave for work very early. Have a great day and a safe drive back to your son's house.

@lynxstch - got to 85 here. CRazy hot for April but cooling down tomorrow. It brought out the mosquitos so I couldn't stay out this morning until it gets sunnier.

My neighbor mowed half my front yesterday(left of my driveway) but I didn't even see it until I went out for the mail. I did some in back but haven't started John Deere yet. That will be around 8am.

It says rain by noon so we will probably get it by 3.

Good morning.

Dave came after dinner last night and got the railings up on the deck except for one of the 4 x 4's. He had to drill into the cement sidewalk with his hammer drill. It was so hard he could only get one of the 3" lag bolts in and has to pick up some smaller ones today. He pounded the fence posts back in that I had taken out for the compost to be dumped for me. I don't have the strength in my arms anymore to reach that high and pound them back in. We decided he's going to make a concrete pad at the end of it so that Don can walk straight from concrete onto the driveway to get to the car. He was going to use gravel, but that wouldn't be smooth enough if for some reason we had to get a wheelchair down it.

He took away the old heavy concrete step that used to be outside the back door, and talked to the neighbor about doing a metal roof for them. He gave them all the information they needed to pass onto the landlord. He'll be back after dinner tonight if it doesn't rain, or else it will be Saturday. He also left us a color chart for the roof. Of course Don and I can't agree. I want either a dark green or blue, he wants gray, ivory or clay colored. Its going to be hard to find one we both like. The house is white, so I don't really want an ivory colored roof. I want a color that's going to show up a little more.

He had no sooner left last night than it started to rain. It was a nice gentle rain. It was still 75 degrees at 11 last night, and I fell asleep with both windows wide open and the sound of rain falling. Calling for a chance of a couple showers later on and a high of 65. Still nice enough to have the windows open.

Have a nice day

Hello everyone, this is certainly a very difficult season of life. I just don’t want to feel this pain anymore but I know that is unrealistic. I just have to go through this time there is no way around it.

Easter plans…. Dd1 and her husband and the three grands are coming Saturday- Monday. Dd 2 will come on Saturday also, her husband is staying home, he is a cpa and is very busy this time of year. DS will be here all weekend.

Saturday we are having an Easter egg hunt for the girls. I am making a big pot of chili so there is not much fuss. Sunday most of us are going to my sisters home for Easter brunch and another egg hunt. Her grand daughters are all in their 20’s but still love an egg hunt.

So, today I’ll make the chili, and tomorrow I’m going to make banana bread, I always have to make it for Colette (4) whenever she comes, it is her favorite thing about coming to Grandmas house.😍

Tomorrow I am getting my nails done, I’ve never had a manicure until my daughters wedding in December. I have done it ever since, just a little treat for myself. It is expensive so I don’t know how long I’ll keep it up. I will also, stop at the store and get a few last minute items, I’m sure the stores will be crazy on Friday, but I only need a few things.

I hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend, also thanks so much for all the good thoughts and prayers.

Just a quick hello, it’s a work day.

Nice to hear of upcoming vacations, good weather and spring projects getting done.

Nice to see you, dazed, it sounds like a busy weekend with family, which is good.

Enjoy this Thursday, everyone. 🐥

PS If anyone has extra prayers to spare, a good friend of mine is going through a tough time and could use some. Thank you.

Good Morning🌸to all,

It's cool (in here) with a little sunshine outside which, is always, so nice to see. Dad is out on some morning errands including to Staples where we had a $10 coupon. This afternoon we will finally make our Spring kitchen wall decoration which I'll share a picture of. Always strange today, Holy/Maundy Thursday to not be going to ⛪. More so tomorrow and Sunday. 🙏that any of you that want to attend a service are able to either in person or virtually and/or do a Stations of the Cross walk tomorrow. I always felt so humbly privileged to get to do that every year up in our social hall. A couple years, I also got to quietly welcome people to the walk and answer any questions which I enjoyed. Good memory because that was where God had me meet a retired now church pastor who is still a friend of mine.

Bobbiwoz, enjoy your visit with your DS and DGD! ITA with what Judique (well said :)) about Gus not wanting to disturb any of you. Besides,:dogdance: knew his company was family!

Judique, have a wonderful and safe extra::MickeyMoMay trip, Judique! I'm so thankful that you have a friend who is also good to travel with that is such an extra blessing. Thank you for the reminder about where Snowysmom is, I was wondering, too. God Bless your kind neighbor for mowing part of your lawn! Love that :)

🙏for a safe :car:back to your son's house indeed, Snowysmom and a good day at work, too.

Love your seasonal and cheerful morning ::MickeyMo::MinnieMopicture, Lynn! Dad and I really did enjoy one year doing the Eggstravangza at Disneyland. God willing, we will get to enjoy this again sometime and maybe see some characters dressed for Sprint, too. It's always extra special to get a picture with a character in different attire such as for Christmas. I vote for a green roof. You could also do a lighter green-blue :) :hug:Sounds like Dave is making good progress, yay.

:grouphug: Dazed and thank you as always for sharing and I pray allowing us to continue to offer you some extra love and support. We care so much. I'm also thankful you have a family weekend ahead and pray that brings you both fun and, of course, added peace. Thinking of you, my friend🕊️

🙏said dear Pea and enjoy your nice weather!

Have a great Thursday everyone. I will come back later.

Still in the 80ties here but dropping to the 60ties tomorrow. No rain yet. Maybe by dinner we will have the storm.

Started the riding lawn mower and in 30 minutes I had done most of it. Will trim with the push mower and then neighbor will weed whack.

Went to Sam's for cat food. They finally had the right kind and pushed the price up a couple of dollars.

Bought some Taylor Farms salad bowls there and headed to Costco where I got a rotisserie chicken, some croissants, a cinnamon swirl pound cake (yumm), fruit and a few other things which brought the cost up to $125.

Back home, made salad and a sandwich for lunch and went out to the patio which I had cleaned up yesterday and got seated to eat. That's when a huge bee decided to join me. After it buzzed around me a bit, obviously upset I wasn't sharing my lunch, I decided it best to go back inside.

Now I'm ready to snooze a bit and then if it hasn't rained I'll go back out and try to do a bit more yardwork.

Edit: Lynn - I'm partial to a blue roof. That's what color mine is. I had gray, and it got dirty fast. Clay would make me feel it was barn like. Green is nice - a neighbor has that. Ivory is a no. Our roofs are composite not metal.

I would worry that the metal would be noisy when it storms or rains, but I really don't know as I'm only familiar with the metal roof on my gazebo.

Last Friday was Carol's TRO hearing. Her ex, his wife and his attorney did show up but her ex and wife would not enter the court room. To make a long story short, the judge canceled the hearing but not before the ex's attorney was put in his place. Carol's attorney was prepared to lay into her ex, Carol saw the questions he was going to ask and confront him with. After this she is very confident in his ability to represent her. The liaison is going to put together a different visitation plan for the ex as far as summer visitation goes so he can't refuse her time to see the kids. The liaison now sees that the ex is the one that is being difficult, not Carol and he didn't make a very good impression with the judge either by not entering the court room. While it would have been satisfying to see the ex get his comeuppance, Carol is satisfied with how things turned out.
Wow - yikes! How incredibly infuriating this hurry up & wait while watching the ex make a *** out of himself! Your daughter must be made of strong stuff. Sounds like his attorney is giving him some bad advise-and what is up with showing up but refusing to go inside?!?! Why on earth would he do that? Oh well - your daughter being satisfied with how things have turned out so far is good. I'm glad things are going her way and the third party folks she has to deal with are able to see things for what they are.
He found out a couple of days ago that his donor lives in South Africa.
Isn't it amazing what medical science can do for us these days? To think someone from South Africa is able to assist someone from the USA in getting back to a healthy spot with a donation such as this. I'm so glad that a donor was readily available for him and all the others that need them. Good luck to him, I hope his recovery goes smoothly.
Someone remind me never to go grocery shopping on a Wednesday just before Easter. I haven't seen the stores this crowded since Christmas time.
You are the third or fourth person I've known to have had this experience this week! Sounds like the grocery stores are a bit of a madhouse...I don't think I need anything, hope not! I should probably canvas my pantry and fridge and if need be, go first thing tomorrow morning at 7 AM.
Tom and I fly to WDW on Easter for 6 nights.
Have a wonderful time!
It says rain by noon so we will probably get it by 3.
We were supposed to expect it around 3 or 4 PM, but now it looks like it won't hit us here until 6 or 7....I've heard a few folks grumble about opening day being canceled - although to be honest I have no idea when the game was supposed to start as I don't follow baseball. It does look like it has the potential to be a hell of a storm, wind especially. Hope my newly planted trees make out okay.
We decided he's going to make a concrete pad at the end of it so that Don can walk straight from concrete onto the driveway to get to the car.
Sounds like a smart plan, I'm sure Don appreciates all you are doing to help him be more ambulatory and get out & about. Plus it will be so nice on a pleasant day to be outside.
I fell asleep with both windows wide open
We had the doors in our bedroom open, too. No rain, which would have been nice. Possibly tonight, but seems like it will get cooler out overnight.
I hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend,
Thank you, you as well. Sounds like you have a wonderful weekend planned with your family. Enjoy!

Good afternoon everyone.
Hope you are all well. Not much going on here. Work and the usual stuff. Dinner last night was (barely) lamb burgers. I say barely because the grill caught on fire again, we put it out but had to call time of death on it. Saved the lamb burgers though:cool1: In truth that grill was being used on borrowed time anyhow. So I suppose we ought to get busy looking for a new one, we use ours year round 2-4 times per week on average. The place we bought our hot tub from is having their annual big sale - 20% off at least - so I went over there this morning and stocked up on all the chemical we use in the tub, and the infrequent ones we use as well. Glad I remembered they were having the sale. l also hit the liquor store to stockup on a few staples. My husband had his new truck delivered earlier today, which he ordered way back at the end of last summer. He took today & tomorrow off to do some stuff around the house, and is helping the eldest pour a concrete patio in his backyard tomorrow. Saturday we have a early dinner with the in-laws (ugh, my least favorite day of the year). Sunday we are back to yard clean up, we took down a silo and we have a lot of rubble to clear up before I have some topsoil delivered. We need to get the whole area where the barn & silo were filled and grass seed planted sooner rather than later.
Dinner tonight will be a sub for my husband and ??? for me. I had a sandwich for lunch, that might hold me. We will probably eat al fresco on the porch, watching the storm roll in. I have always been enthralled with storms and enjoy watching them.
I hope those of you who celebrate have a joyful Good Friday & Easter this weekend.

He also left us a color chart for the roof. Of course Don and I can't agree. I want either a dark green or blue, he wants gray, ivory or clay colored. Its going to be hard to find one we both like. The house is white, so I don't really want an ivory colored roof. I want a color that's going to show up a little more.
I agree with you that ivory on white wouldn't look right at all. I think I would probably go for blue unless it was a really bright electric blue. Gray seems OK to me, too, though.
