Good morning everyone. I was hoping for rain today, so the floor could get finished, but they are only calling for cloudy. If Dave doesn't come today, I have to wait till Sunday. Problem with that is, if we get the wintry mix overnight tomorrow night they are calling for, he might get called out to plow. He plows for the state as one of his 'side jobs'. I just don't want a half finished floor still waiting to get finished on Christmas. I know he will finish, he always does, I just don't like it dragging on and on.

@Kirby How wonderful your son's news was to read. It made me tear up, just imagining how much that prognosis must mean to all of you!

@Pea-n-Me Thank you for the link to the recipe. Don says 'ick' when I say I am going to make it. I told him, then don't eat any, lol. I will pare down the recipe somewhat and make just a few servings of it.

Everyone was so newsy this morning, so happy to read them all!

Off to find something to get into, until I get the phone call saying if the floor is going to get finished today or not (I am leaning towards not :(_

Have a great Friday morning

Good morning all. Playing catch up again.

@Snowysmom - Happy Belated Birthday

@Kirby - Great news about your son, what a great early Christmas gift

@flyingdumbo127 - glad your dad is doing better

Sorry, that's all I remember.

The cabbage roll soup looks interesting. I make a something along those lines when I make Golabki (stuffed cabbage). My Gram always cooked her Golabki in Tomato Soup. I do the same but after the first meal I cut up what's left and we have it as a soup for a couple of nights. Now I want Golabki.

Busy couple of days coming up. I need to meet my parents at the car rental place to get them home later today. I'll combine it with a trip to the laundry. My parents' car was in a hit and run the beginning of November. How the other driver took off is beyond me and there are rumors that the car was actually towed but they left no note or anything for my parents. The sad part is that their insurance paid for a rental for 30 days which ends tomorrow. The car won't be ready until mid-January as they are still waiting on some parts. I would have personally waited until they had all the parts in hand before I dropped the car off for repairs. Their car was drivable but had a lot of rear end damage. I spoke with one of their neighbors last week at the tea and she was livid that someone could treat them like that. My parents are well loved by their neighbors, and they usually look out for them. Sadly, they live on a major, and very BUSY, street where accidents are so commonplace that no one reacts when they hear a crash. Thankfully one of my brother's best friends has an extra car, OLD and a bit of a clunker but it runs and can get them around.

Tomorrow is Lunch with Santa at church. My mom and dad are Santa and Mrs. Claus. I have all of my grandkids and LJ going to it so I can get a picture of all of them with Santa. It will be my Christmas gift to my parents and my mom is thrilled. This will probably be the last year that my dad does it. He's 86, and his health isn't great. Their doctor didn't want him to do it this year but as long as they stay masked except for pictures she OK'd it. My dad has been doing this since before my Ella was born, so at least 15 years. He actually was in demand for quite a bit for different churches and organizations. My dad really is the perfect Santa. My parents would get paid and always donated the monies for charity. Several years they adopted needy families or did Toys for Tots. They embraced the spirit of Santa and the holiday in a huge way. If I can find some of the older pictures I'll post a couple. Still waiting on my hard drive to get repaired. They are waiting on parts also.

Between Jim and I there are several doctor's appointments this week and I may need to take my mom for a minor surgery. I think she has a skin cancer thing, but she is usually very secretive about her health.

I'm hoping to finish my shopping over the weekend and get everything wrapped. Baking starts next week, and my nephew has decided he wants me to bring home made baked goods to Christmas Eve this year. Some of what he has requested needs to be done Christmas Eve or the day before hopefully. He wants CUPCAKES. I have a recipe for a lovely Lemon filled cupcake so I said I will bring that. NO, he wants Vanilla and Chocolate. I decided that I'll do all three, but the vanilla and chocolate will be in the cupcake papers and in ice cream cones for the kids.

Have a great day.

@easyas123 I am a product of Catholic school, went to Mass nearly every day growing up, etc., and that’s not anything I ever heard of! :lmao: Personally I like having Baby Jesus in my manger as soon as I put it out. Interestingly, though, Mona and I have been going back and forth about nativities (she’s a tough customer, lol - just kidding, Mona!) and I snapped this picture to show her last week (which I forgot), but I noticed just now - no baby Jesus! So I guess there is something to what you’re talking about! Seems a little silly to me. :duck:

We really liked it a lot! DS, less so. But the night we made it I actually snuck down around midnight and heated up a little more. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, it was so good! We’ll definitely be making it more often. Cheap, easy, tasty and relatively healthy, what more could we ask for? :p I think you should use Don’s grandmother’s pot! 😝 You’re welcome, too, @Maple Moose!

I saw the conversation about the Nativity scene, and I have to admit I am in the NO Baby Jesus until Christmas Day camp. Jim laughs every year as we pass by Roman Catholic Churches and Holy Family University (a Roman Catholic based College less than a mile from my house) because they all have the baby Jesus out already. I was raised Anglican Catholic (or Episcopalian) by a very devout mother and lapsed Roman father who converted to Anglican. We were taught that you cannot decorate until the first day of Advent and the baby NEVER goes in the creche until Christmas Day. Advent is the season of preparation for the birth and since Jesus technically hasn't been born until 12/25 he cannot be in the manger yet. Since it was so ingrained in my childhood it is one of those things I can't seem to let go of. I guess it's different in different branches of Christianity, but I will still yell inside the car every time I see the Baby in the manger before Christmas Day. Decorations go up when I feel like it as I feel they are more of a secular tradition and to be honest I like the lights as I drive around at night. However if they are up before Thanksgiving I will yell in the car that the Turkey needs his day.

My poor grandson has no luck. He called earlier and the transmission went in his car. They barely make ends meet some months and are in no way prepared for a transmission bill. I told him I will pay for it, it's about $4,000, since it is most of what we agreed to for the work he's doing on the house next year. I just feel bad as he is too young to rent a car and has no transportation for now. He knows that if he needs a ride anywhere to give me a call, especially if LJ gets sick or hurt.

Off to do the laundry, get my mom from the car rental place and finish some shopping. Have a good day.

Sorry everyone, came back only to disappear again...lol I was looking forward to relaxing when we got home but it's turned into a busy week. I'm off to get a booster and then I'll try and catch up some or at least update on my busy week when I get back. Until then a funny from my hubby....
He said he set up our front room tree and put on the lights for me the other day...

❤️to you all and Good Morning/Early Afternoon too!

I enjoyed reading so many shares this morning! Praise Be to God extra and always dear Kirby! I am so thankful to read your update this morning!:grouphug:

What matters, IMO, about putting up a creche is that it might further encourage the people who out it up in their walk anew to and with Christ to the Manger and through every day of life. I honestly never gave thought to when to place Baby Jesus just that any figurine representing Him has to be truly reverent! Thank you all for sharing your opinions.

Dad is continuing to do much better, thanks to God! He's finished just about doing laundry, off quickly to CVS before coming home. It's another chilly LA day here. Extra grateful to God for His shelter forever of true warmth and the extra blanket of love He has blessed me with through my beloved dad, other family, and my dear Quacker family, too. Have a good Friday friends and please take care and stay well!

@bobbiwoz Glad you are feeling better. Have a nice trip and enjoy the lovely Christmas decorations. I am sorry your friend cannot go.

@Pea-n-Me Toto is just too adorable.

I never really thought about when to put Baby Jesus into the manger. I was raised protestant and then raised my kids in the Episcopal church. Baby Jesus was usually in the manger when it was set up as I remember. I think waiting until Christmas makes sense but whatever works for people who set up the Nativity.

I was busy with errands this morning. I did grocery shopping, went to Target, a card shop, the bank, and gas station. Then I sorted out stocking stuffers until lunch. I had a nice lunch with my friend. She brought her grandson as she was watching him. He was such a sweet, polite young man of 4 or 5, I forget. He loves chocolate so had chocolate chip pancakes and chocolate milk. My friend and I did get to talk. She always has some words of wisdom. I came back and sorted out the candy for the stockings and then got things ready for transport. I plan to bring things to older DS's house next weekend, when I see my therapist the following week, and then when I go to stay for the holidays. I really have that much to bring.

Older DS has a court date next week. His soon to be ex and her attorney called the court date. They weren't supposed to go to court until the new year. I am not happy about this as I really wonder what the agenda is. This is on my mind now as well as my usual missing Chris and the holidays without him. My brain just keeps spinning. I would just like some peace and calm.

Have a good evening.

Well we finally found something we can [sort of] argue about, lol. :hyper2: [When to put Baby Jesus out.]

@Snowysmom, Toto thanks you. Glad you had a nice lunch with your friend. Maybe they want to get something done before the end of the year for tax purposes? That’s the only reason I can really think of to do something like that right before the holiday. 😬

@tazdev3225 That was really nice of you to help your grandson out so generously. 👍🏻 HIs wife/SO will now better understand it’s give and take. ;) (I remember when she complained your grandson wasn’t charging you enough for the work he did on your house.)

@AuntieMe3 Good luck sorting through those lights, lol.

Have a good weekend, everyone! 🐥

:grouphug:Snowysmom and 🕊️in knowing forever God is with you always and your son, too!

Dad is resting right now. I am so humbly grateful at how much better he is today. Praise God.

No mail here yet today. we haven't gotten any mailbox mail for a couple days now. We'll see what happens later.

🙏for each of you to have a peaceful and warm good evening and night.

My fault there! Ironic...in any event I just thought it was a really interesting conversation they were having, and it does make me look at nativity scenes a little closer now!
No mail here yet today
I have, as usual, left things a bit last minute. As such I've only just ordered a few items for Christmas - got the first one yesterday, one today and I'm hoping the rest next week. Rest I have/will get in person. Meanwhile I am keeping my fingers crossed that the items I did order arrive.

Pups & I are just chilling this evening. My husband is out hunting w/ eldest son so dogs and I lit a fire and are just relaxing, having a glass of wine. Foster pup recovering from dual eye surgery & a tumor removal yesterday and is doing pretty good all things considered, fairly zoned out from after affects of anesthesia and pain meds. Going back for a recheck on the afternoon of the 23rd - right up near the main/big mall in Northern Delaware/ Rt. 95 S & N, and Rt 1 on the Friday afternoon the day before Christmas Eve. What Was I Thinking?!?!?!?! :crazy2:

Dinner ended up being a few triscuits - saving the chicken for tomorrow now.

Have a good evening everyone-

:dogdance:🙏Easyas and always, :hug:to you, my friend. No mail today! I hope you got some :)

I would appreciate help from all of you finding a Merry Christmas image to put on a card for my dad. I'm not quite finding the right one yet. Last year I used the two images attached which still seem to be the best choices! Thanks, friends. Sweet Dreams with love.

As a P.S. Why do words now show up in gray as though they are being suggested to me to type in this box?

Glad you mentioned that as I have my older DD's new kitten here and he's very playful, climbing all over my laptop, so I thought he had managed to change a setting and was meaning to try to 'fix' the problem when I got a minute. Minute is right now, before I get up, but first was trying to catch up on reading. Now I figure it's a new enhancement, whether welcome or not.

Good morning all!

Good morning. 30 degrees here right now and not getting too much warmer. I am off to Kenny's and then to the enchanted village. He also wants to get a Christmas tree this afternoon with my car. His car is too small for the tree. I hope he makes a quick choice out in the cold! I am not sure if I am going to stay the night. It depends on how I feel. I don't like to be alone but I do like sleeping in my own bed.

Have a good day.

I keep looking at this picture,,it keeps cracking me up everytime. Even made my husband laugh, and I sent it to Summer, and my Sister in Law,,they thought it was so funny. But he was right..he did do both!

Good morning. Its gray and chilly out, 30 and only going to 39 today. Chance of wintry mix overnight, they better be wrong! Lowes texted me that the freezer is out for delivery, so I'm glad I got down to the cellar, and emptied the old one out. I have 4 coolers filled with ice packs, food, and insulating stuff on the top of them. Put them in our 'mystery room', since it's about 10 degrees colder than the rest of the cellar.
Off to strip and remake the bed before they get here. I am hoping they don't put it on its end while carrying it, or I will have to wait at least an hour before I can plug it in and let it get cold.

@flyingdumbo127 I don't have any words showing up in gray, so no idea what you are talking about

Have a nice morning.

Sooo look what DH came home with yesterday...
Screenshot_20221210-075341_Gallery.jpg

Her name is MissDolly and she's about a year old, shepard mix. DH said he was having a hard time yesterday thinking about our boys and said he felt like he had to go to the shelter. Told them he couldn't go in the back to look at the dogs himself, he'd want to take them all home. He told them what he was looking for and they were going to bring some out, one at a time. She was the first one they brought out and he was instantly smitten. She's really sweet but definitely a pup and can get a little wild. :rolleyes1 Funny thing is it's National Adoption Weekend and he didn't even know is it...so her adoption was free, she was already fixed and chipped during her time at the shelter and her adoption came with free first 3 months of registration and a free vet visit(luckily our vet's office was on the list). Even though her adoption was free DH did make a donation and the staff seemed very happy she finally found a home. ❤️

Good morning everyone,

Gray words are still showing up for me. Glad it's not doing that for you, Lynn. Sorry it is also an issue for you, Judique. Very strange! Oh well Grateful always this site works :)

Stay warm out there pups (adorable dog, AuntieMe3)!, kitties, and all of dear you forever, as well with love. I will check in again later.

@AuntieMe3 --Molly is beautiful! Congrats on owning a new furbaby!

New freezer is in the basement and the old one is out. They had to carry both of them on their sides to get them around the corner at the bottom of the stairs, so we have to let the new one sit for at least 12 hours for all the fluids to settle down before plugging it in. Good thing I have good coolers, filled with ice packs and insulation. Food should stay frozen for at least that long. I am going to give it a few days to see how it works, then I might add the extra 3 year warranty. It's only $54 for the whole 3 years, so that makes it inexpensive yearly. Its definitely a lot lighter than the old one, even if it's bigger.
I just put back all the stuff I had to move out of the way, and am off to sit and relax
