Dad and I did enjoy a visit with Terri earlier. She is a blessing indeed. Next week, we will be setting up the Nativity she gave me a couple of years ago. I'm attaching a picture taken last year.

Hugs to each of you for a warm good night with sweet dreams.

@flyingdumbo127 Glad you got to see Terri. I like the Nativity set.

Good Morning. 30 degrees here and only going up to around 40 today. I took my first walk of the day. I find I do not mind the cold too much. But much colder than this may be a different story.

I will be going to Jeff's house today for a visit. I have a laundry going now and will do some work work. I may dust the ceiling fans with my extended dust wand. I do not get up on ladders or chairs when by myself. I packed for staying at Kenny's house for a few days. I leave Tuesday. Not sure if I will come back Thanksgiving day or wait until Friday. He works Friday so I can always just take my time in the AM and head back. Plus I want some time to explore the area more. I have a couple of condo complexes I want to look at.

Looks like everyone is getting ready for the holiday.

Have a good Sunday.

Good cold morning. It was 20 again this morning, only going to a high of 32, and the winds are awful. Making it seem even colder. Even the outside cats are staying in their boxes and not venturing out. I had to bring their breakfast to the wood shed as none of them came to the back door.
Too cold to do anything outside, way too cold for me to go for my walk, so I guess I'm stuck inside for the day. I may work on Christmas cards, or on the Christmas totes later on. I am about 1/4 of the way through them. Of course it's one of those chores, that when I start, I do one other thing down cellar, which leads to another thing, and by the time I get back to the totes, it's 2 hours later,,lol
@Snowysmom I hope you have a great time at Kenny's. It will do you good to get out of the condo for a few days and look at some other places. I hope you find something that 'speaks to you'

Wishing everyone a nice Sunday, stay warm!

This is how Princess Elsa and I feel today, lol!

Good Morning,

Quiet thread so far. 🙏each of you dear friends are having a good Sunday and staying warm!

Snowysmom:hug:, ITA with Lynn. Enjoy extra time with Kenny and a change of scene as well.

:hug:Lynn, sounds like you have some smart outdoor kitties. They don't want to become snowcats!

Dad will soon be off on a few close by shopping errands. I look forward to watching online worship a little later.

🐥❤️I will check back in later.

Helped DH with some organizing projects this morning. Have two bags of clothes ready to donate, plus cardboard file boxes emptied and out of the den - yeah!!

Yesterday was good - visiting and snacking the day away at the in-laws. DH was supposed to go a comedy show with a couple if his Lodge buddies last night, but it got canceled, so they went to watch the Bruins game at a pub instead. I got ready for bed early and finished my library book! 📘

Good afternoon thread save!

Thank you and your DH, dear PollyannaMom for your donation. That sounds like a nice way to spend Saturday, I'm so glad:hug:

I did enjoy as always watching online worship earlier. Dad said Pavilions was crazy. Tomorrow, he will just need to grab a bread from Ralph's and hopefully not much if anything else. Then we should be set until Friday. 🙏each of you already has your shopping for this coming week, at least the bulk of it, completed!

Have a good rest of the afternoon, friends🌸

Good evening. It is COLD.

Went to church this morning for worship. There was one Gospel music anthem that was wonderful. Came home, changed clothes, had lunch, and went back to church for another 3 hours to start decorating for Advent. Jack went too, missing the Ravens game - a big deal for him. There were 3 other men and one woman there. We did all the greenery and wreath hanging that required a tall ladder. Kim and I "fluffed" the artificial greens that had been in storage for a year while Will climbed the ladder that Jack held in place. People show up and think this stuff magically happens.

Home and I am tired. Fried a ham slice, baked a sweet potato, and opened a can of lima beans for dinner.

Did get 3 load of laundry done.

Tomorrow is my annual GYN visit. Can not wait to see my doctor and show him a picture of Marty.

That's about all from here.

@Kirby Medical insurance is so crazy sometimes. Age should not be an issue. Needing the med is the concern. I hope you can appeal. My DS Kenny goes to bat for patients when their insurance denies a med for whatever reason. Maybe your DS's doctors can help. I am praying for him and your family. My angry emoji was for the medical ins.
Someone at the hospital is going to call the manufacturer of the medicine and see if they can help out. Everything was approved before he began chemo so you would think that insurance would man up and at least help pay for the more expensive pills regardless of his age.
Then I went to The Paper Store and got some Christmas gifts and bought myself a snow globe with Cardinals in it. It plays Joy to the World. They also had a deal on a lovely red and green plaid throw blanket that I thought would look nice on the new couch I have coming next month. Since I am not putting up any kind of tree I will have the snow globe, a very festive unicorn, and a snowman.
I've gotten rid of so much Christmas stuff that what is left fits into a 30 gallon tote besides the little four foot lighted tree I have. I saw an ad for a restickable tree that you stick to the wall. All the ornaments are also stickers that can be moved around. Just my kind of tree. Unfortunately I don't have a wall to put it on. Then, again, I wouldn't deprive the GK's of a freestanding tree but maybe one day............

Our trip to Nebraska Furniture Mart went smooth as silk. We had already picked out what we wanted by looking at what Lowes and Home Depot had to offer. They just couldn't get it for a week to 10 days. We walked in (wearing our masks) right at 10:00 am when they opened. Headed over to the dryers, talked to a salesman, paid and was out the door by 10:15 am. Drove over to pickup and was headed home by 10:30 am. That's my kind of shopping. All in all a two hour round trip since NFM is about 45 minutes away. DH is putting it in as we speak.

Hmmmmm, seems like from here up is yesterday's post that I didn't click "post reply". 😄 😄

So an update to yesterday's post. Our washer bit the dust last night, the transmission went out. So we headed back up to NFM this morning and did a repeat of yesterday except with a washer. We even had the same salesman! Was the same experience, walk in, pay and picked it up to bring home.

Today was our Thanksgiving meal day. DH put a turkey in the smoker. First time for him to smoke a turkey. Turned out pretty tasty. When it was done he went over to a friend of mine house and installed a new water heater. While he was gone, I made all the sides. DD made a sweet potato casserole. I made mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, dressing and green bean casserole. We had jelled cranberries and a pack of Brown and Serve rolls to round out the meal. When DH got home he carved the turkey and then we ate till we could eat no more. Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite meal of the year.

This year was the least stressful I have had in a long time. No pressure, no time crunch, just cook at your own pace. No house cleaning though I did vacuum the day before.

I lent her one for her housewarming but wanted it for Lamesgiving so I took another and swapped, as well as borrowing 2 crockpots.
What is Lamesgiving?

This morning we “went” to Mass from Knock Ireland. It was a beautiful service, with special prayers for all Heath care and Emergency care workers, and for all victims of car accidents.

We finished the bulk of Thanksgiving meal shopping today. DSis will be buying much of the Polish food we’ll be serving as lunch, and we bought most of the fixings for turkey dinner. We found out we will pick up the recruits at 9:15, so they will be with us from mid morning until 8 PM. We have two gingerbread houses that we hope our grandsons and recruits will help decorate.

Just a quick hello. Had to get a new computer as my old one bit the dust while at my son's house. I knew it was coming but a hard drive and a computer in 2 weeks was a bit much to deal with. Thankfully I lost some downloads but not much else. This computer backs up everything in some sort of cloud. I don't even need to change passwords as they were all there.

Wyatt's team lost yesterday. This team cheated last time they played and we are pretty sure they did the same thing again. It's a good learning experience for Wyatt though. He tends to be a little arrogant sometimes and loves to hold things over Benny. The I'm better than you, or I'm a winner and you're a loser type attitude. My daughter and SIL put a stop to it quickly but words can do a lot of damage and Ben takes them to heart.

I will catch up tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good night.

What is Lamesgiving?
It is a family celebration we started many years ago on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It started when my mother was still alive. We would pick her up in Baltimore and bring her to our house for Thanksgiving. My brother would go from CT to NJ for Thanksgiving at his in-laws and want to come here Friday and see my mom. I got tired of fixing two big meals so we would go out on Thursday and I'd cook Friday. Andrew was a teen and thought this was "lame", so Lamesgiving was born.

Then when Andrew was working on Thursdays we continued the tradition. Then both kids got married and had to split with in-laws, so the tradition continued. And my brother usually comes with his family too. This year, as everyone will have turkey on Thursday, I am having 13 for beef stew on Friday. The grandkids are going to grow up thinking Lamesgiving is a real holiday.

🙏Carol that all goes easily and well with your doctor visit tomorrow. Thank you:hug: for getting your church Sanctuary decorated for Advent. I would have enjoyed helping with that for sure. I always love the simpler extra praise to God that follows always the affirmation of faith as well. I like your Lamesgiving idea! prayers memories of past celebrations of it are happy!

:grouphug:Kirby I am so glad you got to finally enjoy a much more peaceful and easier Thanksgiving celebration. Great job on shopping! I also prefer a quicker store experience.

Wow, Bobbiwoz:hug:! How cool to get to be part of worship all the way from Ireland! have fun decorating the gingerbread houses. Dad and I still need to decide on ours. We don't want an edible one, well he might enjoy part of one! I think we both would prefer a wooden or plastic house that can be used from year to year such as what our friend Apirateslifeforme PM-ed me. We keep in touch via PM. Yes, I have told her we all miss her posting in our thread. She's a busy mom to a 7-year-old! Anyway, she suggested looking into Michael's birdhouses to transform into a Christmas-y house. Great idea that we will look into. I will absolutely share a picture of anything dad and do end up making.

:grouphug:Taz, ITA about Wyatt. Prayers, of course, that your new computer will do all you need it to do and well! When it comes to anything techy, the simpler, more basic the better for me. Clouds to me are only located in God's sky!

Sweet dreams everyone with love.

thank you for mentioning the Bath and Body soap sale. I am on my last bottle and was hoping for a sale
Me too. I only buy them when they are on sale. Last time I got them for $3.50, I think so this was great.

I will be going to Jeff's house today for a visit.
Hope you had a nice visit.

I had coupons and made a killing.
Man, I should've went in and shopped, I had coupons too. I ordered online with store pickup and you could only use the one coupon code and you needed one for the soap sale.

Someone at the hospital is going to call the manufacturer of the medicine and see if they can help out. Everything was approved before he began chemo so you would think that insurance would man up and at least help pay for the more expensive pills regardless of his age.
Praying it works out for him. It's ridiculous its even an issue.

Another lazy weekend. DH did some cleaning in the garage and I did a little bit of regular house cleaning(laundry, decluttering paperwork, etc). This week I'll finish my Thanksgiving shopping, hopefully tomorrow to get it over with and cleaning up a little more.

Hope you all have a great night sleep and nice Monday morning.

Kirby Glad someone from the hospital is helping with the med.

Such a busy group lately! I will try not to go near a grocery store until the day after Thanksgiving. It seems to be quiet that day.

I visited with Jeff and the grandkids yesterday. It was fun. Of course we had to play hide and seek. I always bring them a little snack treat like Annie's gummies so Charlotte asked me if I brought her a treat. She never forgets! Sam is so big and smiley. He loves to bounce in his bouncy seat. I think he will be walking before one year just like his Dad. He has 2 teeth on the bottom and bit Jeff. He drew blood! Sharp baby teeth.

Today I am working then making a cinnamon loaf to bring to Kenny's house for breakfast for the kids on Thursday. Kenny and I can snack on it too. I am glad to be at his place for Thanksgiving as I did not want to wake up alone that day. At least I will get up and be busy. I hope to be able to stay at his place for Christmas too.

Have a good day. It is 23 right now so my walk is postponed until the sun is fully up. I will work a bit and then walk around 8.

Good cold morning (again). It's only 17 outside, though we are going into the 50's today and tomorrow. That will feel like a heat wave!

That is how we get our $$$ meds. Our Dr's offices have us fill out our portion of the applications, attach copies of tax return, and they do their part and fax it in. We have to stop at the hospital medical building tomorrow and drop off all the re enrollment medications. Most of them do have an out of pocket prescription amount you have to meet before approved, but one month of buying the meds usually takes care of that, along with our part D deductible. I hope they can get help for your husband.

@Breezy_Carol I remember your posting about Lamesgiving last year (or the year before,,this thread is getting old, so I don't remember which year, lol), but I love reading about it every time. It's a great and unique tradition for your family! I had to laugh when you said the grandkids will think it's a real holiday. Wait till they are old enough to start explaining that one, lol!

Going to make my to do list for Thursday, make a grocery list to make sure I didn't forget anything, and do a load of laundry. Hoping that Dave (handyman) calls today and gives me a date to start the floor. I have to be able to move out all the little stuff and cover everything before he starts work. Then we just slide out the fridge and stove, and move the table to the other side while he puts down a section and then move everything back into place. I don't expect him to do it tomorrow or Wed..but maybe he can start on Friday and be done by the weekend.
And this floor had better last a lot longer than the 1 year the other one did!

Loved reading all the posts this morning,,glad to see so many Quackers still posting!

Have a great day

I hope they can get the issue resolved, especially since it was approved once before.
We finished the bulk of Thanksgiving meal shopping today
We did our Thanksgiving shopping yesterday as well. Started out going out for breakfast, pit stop at Walmart to make a return, Acme for the big shop followed by swinging by the liquor store for a few items. Other than picking up my rolls that I pre-ordered on Wednesday morning, as well as picking up mushrooms & celery that morning, I'm done. I do also have to go to the butcher for some scrapple, I'll do that Wednesday as well. The more I type the more I realize maybe I'm not done

I love reading this story, I remember you shared it before, it's the fun kinda family tradition you can easily see the kids & grandkids continuing.
making a cinnamon loaf to bring to Kenny's house for breakfast for the kids on Thursday
mmm that sounds good! I have a loaf of blueberry bread in the freezer that I think I'm going to take out for Thanksgiving breakfast, I'm thinking I could "fry" it with a shmear of butter and serve it that way.

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. We did, both my husband and youngest had a successful hunt on Saturday which resulted in 1 donated deer (they donate several each year) and 1 for the freezer. This coming weekend is a huge hunting weekend in our area, and my nephew, both our boys & my husband are busy scouting and getting the boat ready ( they take the boat to access their stands on the lower shore of MD) and making plans. I don't hunt so I'm making no plans other than chilling out the weekend of Thanksgiving and putting up some Christmas decorations! I'll cook down the turkey, make some soup and get that in the freezer, same with the leftover ham. We won't put our tree up until the 17th or 18th, but I do like to put up lights outside and decorate inside a bit.

Today I'm headed down to southern Delaware for a meeting, I've got to give the guys the yearly Sexual Harassment talk, and got over a few other things. Tomorrow I'm in the office and Wednesday I'm in & out of the office. I usually take off the day before Thanksgiving to start my prep, but since it's just the 7 of us this year and we eat later, about 5 PM, I figured I'd skip taking off this year.

Dinner this evening is BLT's as we have some chores to do and will just grab dinner in-between or when we are done them. Tomorrow night will be porch chops stewed in tomatoes and Wednesday night - you know it, pizza!

Question of the Day: What time do you traditionally eat your Thanksgiving Dinner?
My answer: We eat later, about 4:30 or 5PM, and I grew up eating late afternoon or so and my husband grew up eating at 12 noon. This year we were going to aim for a bit earlier, around 3 pm but one of our family members works overnights and she needs her sleep so we reverted back to our usual time to accommodate her. They travel 45 minutes to our house so I figured it was the least we could do.

Don would love you, it's one of his favorites, but it's one of the few things I refuse to look at, never mind cook. The other would be venison, not allowed in my house or refrigerator, lol
