Happy Birthday @footballmouse :flower3: Mila is adorable. I'm glad to hear she's doing well.

@bobbiwoz I hope you a great time in Dollywood. I've always wanted to go there.

@Judique Hope you have a safe drive and a nice trip as well.

@Bianca and Bernard Hope your area won't be hit to hard. If your HF is delayed by more than a day, they will give you a complete refund and tell you to throw it all away. We had that happen to us before.

Hmm...what else did I want to say. gosh I forgot to do quotes again.

A section of our flooring was removed and dryers placed Monday but because our house was built before 85, we needed an asbestos test before they would remove the drywall. Tuesday the plumbers came to repair the leak and we had the asbestos test done. Yesterday was just a drying day, ServiceMaster came and did a moisture test, everything was drying nicely (nice things about living in the dry desert) and the asbestos test came back negative so today SM is back to remove the drywall. Not sure what happens once that's taken care of. I'm not sure if we have to wait for the insurance to hire a contractor to repair the drywall and replace the flooring or if they are just issuing us a check to find someone ourselves to do it. Whatever is going to happen we hope it will be done fairly quickly. We have a plastic tent up in the family room to help with the dryers and keep the dust down while they remove the drywall. When we moved the TV, we didn't think to put it back on the TV stand so it's behind it and we've been without since Sunday night. LoL I've been listening to alot of podcasts or watching stuff on my laptop and DH has been playing his video game on one of DDs monitors in the front room. LoL. DD has a TV in her room so she's been fine. LoL

Hope you all have a great rest of your day.

Good morning friends:grouphug:

:thanks:all so much for your dentist visit prayers. I am very extra grateful to God that visit is now over and went well. Dentist didn't say one word about the pieces of an old filling that he said had fallen out the last time. As you can imagine, that was a relief! I am in no way implying he was wrong about that just that because I do go every two months my last visit did raise a bit of a red flag for me. My next appointment is at the end of January. I was able to surprise him and his staff with some 🥯and cookies for Thanksgiving and early Christmas. His kind receptionist is going to donate some extra school supplies, backpack, and stickers to her children's school for me. I also did include some art stuff and stickers for them and possibly the dentist's child as well. That was truly a blessing to get to do and know at last these things will be actively used by children, their family, and a teacher.

Snowysmom, you have come so far, dear friend:grouphug: I continue to be so grateful, so very thankful God has given you such a kind extensive support system. Your friend is a wise lady and so are you! I am not sure there is such thing as a townhouse either all one floor or perhaps 1 ½ floors but that type of living space sounds ideal to me. I would never want the responsibility of owning a home. I’ve never lived in a condo. God-willing one day, dad and I will be able to afford to look into moving options. Prayers you enjoyed a warmer walk this morning.

Smart plan indeed, Judique! Much prayers to you and your friend for a very safe and fun upcoming visit to ::MickeyMoPrayers indeed for safety to B&B and all in Florida.

What a beautiful picture, Bobbiwoz!🎄 God Bless you and Tom! Enjoy a safe and truly fun time at Dollywood. I love that the two of you have made going there at Christmastime a tradition. Here’s to many more years of being able to do just that in all good health.

Thanks extra to God to hear from you B&B and that you and your family are safe. Continuing 🙏 for all of you, extra your DH with his doctor’s appointment and of course, with everything going on with your son.

:hug:Grandma Footballmouse and Happy Birthday 🎂 as well! Truly God Bless baby Mia! She is just precious! May the two of you develop a special lifelong relationship indeed. I know you are already dear to her!

Cute ::MickeyMo picture, Lynn, thank you! Very glad to hear the boys made it home safely! Prayers your 🛒 went smoothly, quickly, and that you were able to get everything needed. Extra hug to you, my friend, and prayers continuing for Summer.

PollyannaMom:hug: prayers you do get to Dollywood one day and have a wonderful time!

Maple Moose, wise words and I agree, thank you for sharing! So glad you have joined our Quacker family:grouphug:

Extra :grouphug: dear Pea and continuing prayer that you at last feel all well! I am so sorry that still you are going through so much due to Covid. What an extra blessing one day it will be when this pandemic is over! Please take care of yourself and remember forever we all care and are here! Lol, my grandma would have liked traveling with you. She, too, often wanted to be well prepared by bringing extras. These days, especially with Covid, that really is such a smart idea!

:cheer2: and praise God all the extra for no asbestos, AuntieMe3! Prayers also you are keeping well and warm. Still chilly here for me!

Dad got ⛽ at $5.09 a gallon at our local GM station before taking my car out for Thursday morning exercise to Smart and Final and Ralph's. On our way to the dentist, we drove past a Mobil Station just off a freeway exit that has always been higher priced. Currently they are charging almost $7 a gallon! Thank God, dad is safely on his way home as I type this :) Wishing each of you a warm and happy rest of Thursday. I will check back later. Love to all.

@footballmouse Happy Birthday. :bday: Love the picture of Mia. So precious.

@Judique Safe and happy travels

@flyingdumbo127 Glad your dentist appt went well.

I was in the office this morning. I like to see everyone and probably talk too much when I am there. I asked my supervisor again about the doctor she recommended I try. I have an appt Dec 1. She told me that the doctor and her nurse practitioner are both lovely and caring. She said her niece is anxious too and had to find a new doctor so my boss recommended that her niece try this doctor. Her niece had to see the nurse before she had an appt with the doctor and she loves the nurse. That makes me feel a bit better. I know I will still be anxious and my bp will be up but at least I have an idea of what to expect. I just hate to get weighed even though I have lost alot of weight over the years. :crazy2: It goes back to childhood.

The weather is so nice today. It is supposed to rain tomorrow. I have the day off tomorrow and plan to do some Christmas shopping, getting stocking stuffers. Yesterday I found out the name of the realtor who is highly recommended for selling condos at the complex. My acquaintance told me he is very good and very nice. It turns out to be the realtor who sold the condo I bought. I remember him and he was very good. He already knows this condo and will probably be surprised that I want to sell so soon. My reason for selling will be the family situation and that I want to be near Kenny. Also, I want a town house this time. My plan is to talk with the realtors and really think about what they tell me. I am not going to rush this but make a good informed decision based on what the experienced realtors tell me and what my heart tells me.

Have good rest of the day.

:grouphug:Maple Moose, if you lived closer, you know I would love to share some cookies the next time we bake them with you, my friend! Glad you also enjoy 🍪

Extra :grouphug:Snowysmom and prayers your new doctor turns out to be a wonderful match for you!

Meant to ask this yesterday. I am so blessed to have my larger Nativity from Terri that dad and I set up each Advent in the back room. I'd love to also have a small, possibly one piece, Nativity to be able to put beside a small potted 🎄in here, our living room. I am thinking also of surprising my cousins with one for Christmas--theirs would have to be Amazon ordered so it could be directly sent to them. I am pretty sure I remember some of you have small Nativities? I'd appreciate any recommendations and thank you.

Have a great afternoon, friends.

That sounds like a sensible plan. It's so important to be comfortable where you live and it's such a huge decision.

Hello to all Quackers. Thank you all for responses to my questions about being blissfully ignorant vs. knowing everything. I do want to clarify, that when it comes to the kids, I really don't know what goes on with them when they are over there. For one, they have been led to believe/told that what happens with Daddy/at Daddy's house is a secret, that Mommy might get angry if she finds out and then be mean to them. And, I really don't ask, because I know I can't change any of it and most of it really would just upset me. Secondly, the "rules" kind of are set up that it isn't my concern what goes on with them on his time and it is not his concern what goes on with them on my time. This is coming from friends who have been through a divorce and the court system in our particular state. As long as they are not in danger or there is some type of an emergency then it's not my business, so to speak. Hope that makes sense. My questions comes more from what other people say when I talk to them, again I don't beleive anyone is intentionally trying to hurt me, but we do live in a tiny tiny area and the topic is bound to come up in some capacity at some points. A friend who has been through divorce told me I need to come up with a phrase to use when people tell me something that I really don't know how to respond to...her was always "that's interesting", she said it usually gave people the hint she really didn't want to talk about it any more without her having to come across as being upset that they had told her whatever it is they thought she should know. Cause really, I think most people are trying to help in their own way and think that by telling you some stuff that they are helping. And, sometimes they are, and sometimes they are not, but I think we all can say that about ourselves...that at some point in our lives we had the best intentions and those intentions were not met with the expectations we were wanting/expecting/hoping for. Anyway, I'm thinking on a phrase, so if you have any ideas, let me know. Some will prob. say to just say I don't want to know, but outside of close friends I'm not sure I can be that forward with some people. without coming across as rude.

@footballmouse Happy happy birthday and such a great picture of little Miss Mia!
@Snowysmom Sounds like you have a solid plan about finding your next home (It seems you feel like the condo is just a place to live, not really a home...at least that is how I kind of read your posts, if that is off, I apologize). So, here is hoping to a much better experience this time around with a much clear head and definitely more knowledge on your side.
@AuntieMe3 glad things are coming together on your repairs and such, but man what a pain. Hopefully you will have things squared away sooner rather than later. Those "project" always seem to lead to another "project" or some other issue that you didn't know was there.
@flyingdumbo127 WOOT for a good dentist appointment.

Take care everyone, and as always, many prayer and good thoughts to all on our thread.

:grouphug:all the extra Frog. An adult, especially a parent, should NEVER tell a child that what happens at their house needs to be kept secret from the other parent. Been there as a young child in a way, not healthy or positive or right in any way. Thank you all the deeper for being the loving, wise, and faithful mom you are! Continuing prayer for all especially your precious kids.

It is sunny and a beautiful 70 degrees here. Got home a little while ago. I couldn't get Don moving very quickly this morning, so it was almost 11 when we got to Aldi's. I will never again shop in Walmart on a Thursday morning. It was packed. Groups must have been buying toys for charity or something, as there were about 20 of them, carts filled to the brim with toys, and dragging 2 bikes behind each one. An employee was following them with a flat bed thingy with what looked like another 20 bikes or so. I managed to find the almost hidden U Scan empty and got out of there. All the others had lines of 4-5 people. Lots of empty shelves in both Walmart and Aldi's today. And of course prices are up. Aldi's had Butterball turkeys for $1.07 a lb this week, and they had a $5 off $30 coupon stuck on the front of our newspaper yesterday. Only problem is , that all of their turkeys were big. There are only 2 of us, and the smallest they had was still almost 16 lbs. Guess we'll be having lots of leftovers. Walmart had some brand for $.99 but their's were all over 20 lbs. What happened to smaller turkeys? Dinner is going to be burgers, devilled egg potato salad, and some really nice green grapes I got today
Have a nice evening everyone

Re weight. “Not today, thank you.”
Will doctors really listen to that? I would love to say that on my visit and explain to the doctor why and that maybe next time we can discuss it. I think I will try that when I go in for my first visit. That way I can talk with the doctor and be able to just concentrate on whether she is the right doctor for me. I love it! Thanks for the input.

Someone at work said we have a turkey shortage in this area. She was at Market Basket and could only find a turkey larger than she wanted. She said she would come back later and check again. The meat manager told her to take the one she had as there is a shortage. Not sure if this is true or not. I did text Kenny and tell him he may want to buy a turkey sooner rather than later. But, I always plan way ahead anyway.

Frog It is really appalling that your FH tells the kids not to tell you what goes on at this place. He really is not thinking of the kids and putting their needs first. I have no idea what to say to people who tell you things that you may not want to hear. I usually use the phrase That's interesting and then change the subject. I am not sure I would worry too much about being rude because maybe they should think about what they say to you first.

@Snowysmom: Re weight. “Not today, thank you.”

Will doctors really listen to that?
I've been hearing this more and more lately. I've also heard you can tell them to just make note of your weight but you don't need to know what the number is and then look face away from the scale display when on it...if the insist on it, especially if it's a first time appointment, they might.

So glad to hear you have such nice weather, Lynn! Prayers that Don is okay and that the two of you have a lovely, cozy evening. Sorry, of course, about crazy and empty shelved Walmart. Grateful you got some needed items. Prices sure do keep going up and up as stock goes down :( While I was at the dentist this morning, dad went to a Dollar Tree about 5 minutes away. He now only goes to this location when he takes me to the dentist, dropping something off for me at church, or getting one of our cars washed as both the church and car wash are very close to this store also. Anyway, he said the shelves looked even barer than the last time he was there. He did get a few things. Next time, he will go to a bigger Dollar Tree store that's actually a dash closer to us than this one is and has a Target in the same strip mall. What's an extra blessing about that, is that due its location perhaps that Target has lower prices on some items than our store about 5 minutes away does.

Snowysmom I also love Pea's suggestion. A doctor should always be kind and respectful! Extra prayers that your new doctor will be just that. I 'liked" your second post for what you said about Frog's Ex. It is so sad and indeed appalling that children aren't being put first. Thank you all the extra for being such a wonderful mom and grandma yourself not to mention lovely friend.

Another great suggestion, AuntieMe3.

Dad and I got expected packages from both Walmart and Amazon. No mail yet. As an FYI there will be no mail tomorrow due to celebrating Veteran's Day.

Enjoy a cozy rest of the afternoon, AuntieMe3 and evening everyone else.

I am so angry at my sister in law and niece right now. They have had Covid since last Monday. Wednesday they got a Walmart pick up order. Then on the way home decided to stop at a local restaurant and get soup to go. The place was very busy, so noone could take the order out to them. So Niece goes IN to get it???? WHT..so she subjected everyone at the take out counter to it. Then today she just told me that they had another Walmart pick up order, and on the way home, decided to stop and vote??? They both took tests this morning and both still show as positive. I literally yelled at them, for subjecting people to Covid for their own stupidity. How can anyone be so reckless ?
Some people just don't get it.
Don called Summer this morning. She is hurting all over, wants to do nothing but sleep. they were supposed to redo the surgery in 2 weeks, called her this morning and told her she's scheduled for Dec 15'th? So she will have stents and not be able to move around much for the holidays. She is not happy, and I think she's really getting depressed. I wish she would tell her PCP this so they could get something for her to help
Prayers for her.

Went to a local store and bought 9 pds. of ground chuck at $2.99 a pound, not bad these days.
That's great! The lowest price for ground meat at my Kroger has been $5.99 a pound.
I found out today that a friend of mine has been giving the news that his cancer...that's he fought twice... has returned.
Prayers for him.

Do you feel and/or believe that ignorance really is sometimes bliss? It can be for any situation.
I think that sometimes it can be.

Happy Thursday morning! 🍂

Yesterday Evan called and said I was allowed back in the NICU to see the baby :goodvibes . I told my boss that I'm taking a 1/2 day and headed over. She is so tiny. I just kept sitting there trying to imagine my kids being 3x's her size. They took her off the c-pap last night so she just has her IV in for her medicine and a feeding tube.
That's wonderful news!
Happy Birthday footballmouse!

That happens to the GK's too. In the beginning, we would ask out of curiosity what they had done during his visit with is dad but quickly realized that Lil Joe had been told not to tell us so we stopped. Now we wait for him to tell us in his own time. The same with Lou Lou now.
Secondly, the "rules" kind of are set up that it isn't my concern what goes on with them on his time and it is not his concern what goes on with them on my time.
It's basically the same here but DD's ex doesn't see it that way. He feels that it's none of DD's business what goes on when the kids are with him but he thinks that he should know everything on what goes on here.

I was able to get a free Kroger frozen turkey yesterday at Kroger. It was a get one free if you spent over $100 or pay 99 cents a pound if you spent over $25. Like Lynn, I wanted a smaller one but the smallest available was 14 lb.

Will doctors really listen to that? I would love to say that on my visit and explain to the doctor why and that maybe next time we can discuss it. I think I will try that when I go in for my first visit. That way I can talk with the doctor and be able to just concentrate on whether she is the right doctor for me. I love it! When I go to my doctor, the nurse weighs me but usually doesn't mention my weight. I would think that your new doctor would listen to you and be fine with not mentioning your weight unless they had some concerns about it.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them. I appreciate all of your on my family's behalf especially James. He met with his doctor at MD Anderson in Houston this afternoon. His CMML diagnosis was changed to AML, Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He has been admitted to the hospital and begins chemo treatments tomorrow for the next 5-7 days. Then will stay in Houston for 28 days while they test his blood a couple of times a week. He is scared and overwhelmed but knows that he needs to do this. Just didn't expect to begin tomorrow. He is staying positive which is good.

Cold air is moving in overnight and the heater will come back on. The Red Oak that is outside our kitchen window has tons of acorns that are dropping like crazy on our house. We hear thud, thud, thud all day long. 😄

@Kirby Prayers for your DS as he goes through treatment. It really sounds like he is at the right place and that he will get really good care. Staying positive is important.

It is warmer this morning around 53. But it is supposed to rain with remnants of Nicole heading our way. My DDIL has a family wedding this weekend so Jeff will be staying home with the kids. I am going over tomorrow to spend time with them. I am happy to be able to spend more than just an hour with them. The first thing they ask to play is hide and seek. Now, there is no place that I can hide so they always find me first. My younger DGD always hides with me. They are so sweet.

I am off today and doing some Christmas shopping. It is not easy to do this without Chris as we used to take a day off, have breakfast out, and then go shopping. I am doing grocery shopping first and hope I can find everything. I know I will come out of the store wondering what I spent all that money on. We were talking about it at work yesterday.

Have a good day.

Good morning.

I will try to hit reply before I leave this page today. I started a reply Tuesday and again yesterday, but then life got in the way. Not that I am not interested, but this thread isn’t a priority and lifeline like it was in the pandemic.

All is well here. Usual yoga and church shifts. Jack and I had lunch Monday with Sarah and Tessa after Tessa’s dentist appointment then watched Tessa while Sarah went to her dentist. Andrew and family are on vacation, flew to Atlanta last Friday and visited there a few days before driving to Gatlinburg. After a few days there, they drove to Nashville on Wednesday, unaware that the CMA Awards were happening. They got to their hotel in downtown Nashville then watched all the activity from their window. They fly home tomorrow.

I know I quoted multiple posts to reply to, but they aren’t here and I am certainly not starting over.

@footballmouse , yay on visiting Mia. When Marty was in the NICU at John’s Hopkins, grandparents were allowed to visit 24 hours a day. Only grandparents and parents could go into NICU, not aunts and uncles but they could visit Jennifer. I know Jen and Andrew were glad when we visited because it gave them a break.

 For all who need them and :cool1: for celebrations.

If I don’t post, don’t worry, I’m just doing other things and will stop in and say hi when I can. Retired life is full.

I found the same thing yesterday. No shortage of them, but nothing smaller than 15-16 lbs. 2 of us, we will be eating leftover turkey for a month, lol.

Good morning all. Dumping down rain from Nicole here, but the temp is fairly mild. I put a hooded sweatshirt on to go out and feed the cats. 2 were in the wood shed, the other 3 were sound asleep on the front porch. They are smart and know where to stay dry.
Since it's raining all day, I will catch up on tv shows. Haven't seen any of the Chicago's yet, nor Survivor or Amazing Race. Getting behind again. I think I am just not into tv as much as I once was.

@footballmouse --I forgot to say yesterday, that picture was precious,,and she looked much bigger and better than I expected to see. Hope things get better for her every day till she can come home

@Kirby continued prayers for James and the entire family. He's in a good place, to get excellent treatment.

I had intended to put the Christmas lights up on the front porch while it was milder today, but not doing it in the rain, maybe this weekend. I will start going through all my totes in the basement to decide what I want to put up for inside decorations this year. Don wants us to get one of those Balsam Hill trees that you just tip over to get the branches down, but I don't want to put up a big tree anymore. It's too much on me to be the only one putting it up, decorating it, and taking it down. The same applies to Thanksgiving. He tends to invite family over before mentioning it to me, and I am not into it this year. I don't plan on doing everything for a meal for between 10 and 15 people.

Have a nice morning all, stay safe if in the path of Nicole's remnants. (we are getting a lot of remnants, lol)
