Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good afternoon.

Finished baking cookies for vacation. Ironed the communion linens that I washed yesterday. I have PT then going to treat myself to CFA lunch then get a pedicure before the beach.

Anyone else watching the Jan 6 committee hearings? Can’t really comment as it would be political.

@dazedx3 , I poached chicken breasts, shredded, added BBQ sauce, and froze in ziplock bags to take Saturday. I have to make a meal for 13. Will take rolls and salads. Have also taken meatballs the same way, ham slice, spaghetti sauce. There is always lasagna and that type meal.

Wow ... page 2
storms this afternoon and then hot! Chemo this afternoon for DH.

I am trying to think of a meal to make ahead for our vacation, but I’m
drawing a blank. Any ideas?

Stay safe everyone, sounds like there will be a lot of storms and heat across the country.

Tacos (precook the meat, preshred the cheese. Day of leaving, wash lettuce and tomato, and cut up. Bring small jar of salsa, and a small sour cream cup. Reheat the meat, and voila, done!)

Chili, make at home and reheat.

Pasta salad.

----------------------------------------------
Gonna be hot today, over 90. I was able to get the backyard mowed and weedwacked, and weedwacked about half the front yard before the batteries died. Hopefully it won't be too stormy today, so I can get the front yard mowed. The backyard is so much smaller than the front, but it seems so much harder to mow. Dh is going to have to get out to the 'way back' (past our fence, down to the overflow pond) and mow/weedwack back there; it is really getting bad, and I can't do the whole thing because the slope is too much for me with the mower weight.

Washing the bedding, and watching the hearings on msnbc. (Only thing I'm going to say is that I hope my brother and numerous nieces and nephews are watching and paying attention.) Already swept and mopped the kitchen, put out trash (need to go put cans up) and set up USPS to pick up DD#2's bday package tomorrow. Need to sweep/mop the rest of the house, then I'm done for the day.

Making breaded chicken parmesan w/garlic noodles and salad for dinner. Tomorrow, I'm making roasted chickpeas, broccoli and cauliflower w/couscous and sour cream/feta/dill/lemon dressing.

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning 🐣

It's overcast right now, supposed to warm up later. Expecting dad's Father's Day bookmark I had custom made with the 4 images today. I look forward to seeing how that turned out 🔖 I also received this Toast Stamp yesterday. It should make the impression of the words into a pancake, shouldn't it? I hope? I believe years ago I may have had something similar with Minnie Mouse on it. It was meant for toast and we never did try it for pancakes at that time but I ought to be the same idea. We shall find out. I thought the idea was cute. I was able to find Pancake Plates on Oriental Trading. Speaking of Oriental Trading, today they are offering free shipping on any order :)

Carol, wow. I was so touched by yesterday's sermon. More than that, when the congregation came together to sing "Amazing Grace," what a joy that was from a far to be reminded that through Christ, because of His Grace and Love, connecting the two of us and the rest of our Quacker family together in faithful friendship and care. I truly am so grateful always to all of you. I was also reminded and want to share here, in prayer that it brings a spark of extra hope and joy to each of your days, reminder you do not walk alone, is this song from a couple years ago now, I believe, that I have as a Favorite still today. It Only Takes a Spark It does, my friends. It does. With all my heart I thank each of you for shining forth His spark of call within you to others. You make a difference and to me. Love to all and Happy Monday.

Good afternoon! My good news is the radiation for skin cancer on my face did the job. Just go in for regular 6 month check ups…we’ll the next one is in July, since this was found in January.

I haven’t seen any hummingbirds this season yet. I do feed the squirrels as well as birds. They come to visit me too, and know where the food is if I am late in the morning.

Woo...the last couple days have been a whirlwind. My disappointment over our canceled road trip Friday night made DH feel really bad so he ended up booking a completely last minute 4 night cruise. We booked Saturday morning for a Monday cruise, we rushed to find somewhere to get tested and we're now sitting at our hotel waiting for the shuttle to the cruise terminal. We'll be at sea tomorrow, stop at Catalina Island right off the California coast Wednesday, stop at Ensenada, Mexico and home Friday. I'm so excited. DH said this is finally our 25th anniversary celebration. So excited.

I tried to skim through this morning but I missed alot the last few days so I just wanted to let you all know I'm thinking of you all and wishing you well.

Also one more thing if you all don't mind sending some good thoughts and prayers for a family member who's having a some medical problems right now. We want her to be healthy again. ❤️

I hope you all have a good week....I'll be back to catch up Friday evening or maybe even Sunday. :grouphug:

@AuntieMe3 --so glad you could book and take a cruise so quickly...Enjoy!

We are at 90 degrees, alternate between full sun and clouds. I had the kid next door do a thorough weedwacking of the bank out front. I can get from the bottom up to a certain point, and from the top down to a certain point, but am always afraid to slip on the hill and get hurt. He did the whole thing , both sides, and the edges of the driveway for $10.

The 2 little boys next door come running everytime they see me now..they always have to 'tell me something',,lol. I asked if they liked their new swingset. He says 'how do you know we have a swingset'? I said I can see it from here, it's not a swimming pool, right? He laughed and said no..it's a swingset. One if going to be 7 and the other is going to be 5 on the same day as my birthday. They are very polite, funny kids, and I love having little ones next door again. He dragged me over to see his snow peas and tomato plants (she made a small garden that is just theirs), and 2 bigger ones. The 2 boys love fruits and vegetables (unusual for kids these days?), so I told them they can come and pick out of my garden when things get ripe

Stepdaughter is having another round of bad luck. They have been renting a huge house for almost 2 years. The man who lives behind them passed away and hi family wants to buy the property stepdaughter is living on and expand. He is making the landlord an offer next Wednesday, which means they may have to move again. It's hard to find a place when you have older kids, one of the girls boyfriends, 2 adults, 2 dogs, and ***'t lizards, snakes etc.

Dinner is going to be burgers, devilled egg potato salad and corn. Then I am going to take a quick shower and settle in for more Hawaii 5-O. Mr L wants to know how I can sit through episode after episode. I said 'look at Alex O'Loughlin', what woman wouldn't want to watch him as much as possible,,lol!

Have a good afternoon..stay cool all of you in this heatwave

Good afternoon.

Home from running around. It is hot out. But I have sandal worthy feet now.

(Only thing I'm going to say is that I hope my brother and numerous nieces and nephews are watching and paying attention.)
Ditto. I hope my brother watches but I doubt it will change any minds.
My good news is the radiation for skin cancer on my face did the job.
:banana::banana:Great news!
last minute 4 night cruise
Sounds like fun.

Have fun, AuntieMe3 and be safe! 🛳️

God Bless you, dear Lynn for your kindness to your young neighbors. I love that you share a birthday with one of them. Please keep cool and be careful out there in the heat!

You please take care in the heat, too, dear Carol!

We've gotten two packages so far. Dad's bookmark just says it's arriving by 8pm but does not yet say "Out for Delivery." So this could mean tomorrow. As long as it comes by Saturday and, of course, is what I ordered :)

Wishing all of you a good rest of the afternoon.

Good afternoon.

I was exhausted yesterday and took a day for me to just relax. The wedding went off really well and the pictures came out better than I hoped. I may tweak one or 2 but I am happy with them. I really did stress over it. After 42 years together my aunt and her partner are now "official". We all knew they were gay, but my aunt's wife has had some serious health issues, she has been battling lung cancer, and my aunt was worried that if something happened to her that my one uncle would toss her now wife out of the house and try and make money off of it. My aunt and uncle haven't spoken since 1997 when their mother died, and he accused my aunt and mom of killing her. My grandmother had a lot of health issues and she needed full time nursing care so she was put in a nursing home. When my grandmother was hospitalized and we all knew the end was near everyone but this uncle agreed to a DNR. My grandmother actually told them that was what she wanted. My aunt has a will but we all know he would contest it. This was the perfect thing to do and honestly as everyone said "It's About Time!" They have been partners for over 40 years.

We all got lost trying to find the reception as it was held in New Jersey and we weren't that familiar with the restaurant. Of course we heard again how much my aunt and I look alike and sound alike. It starts to get old after awhile.

Today is another chill day as I remember my grandmother. She left us 20 years ago today and there isn't a day goes by that I don't miss her. I have never heard anyone say a bad word about her. I have always used my Gram as a role model on how to be a Grandmother and I hope my grandkids feel the same way about me as I do her.

It's another hectic week here. I have to get my grandsons to school. I can come home and chug down a cup of coffee then I have to head back to the school by 8:45 for an 8th Grade thing since my daughter is stuck working. I need to get my husband by 10 to get him to his monthly breakfast with former co-workers. Then we need to take him to finally get fitted for his shoes. At some point I need to talk to my granddaughter's school to try and get her class assignment for next year changed. I really dislike teenage girls at times. They are the quintessential MEAN GIRLS. A former best friend has turned on my granddaughter and has been spreading rumors and posting lies about her. This kid is a Straight A Honors Student and she needs to maintain that for applying to High Schools next year. They are supposed to be in the same class and that cannot happen. My Ella is already stressing over it. Unfortunately the Dean of Students and Vice Principal are the same 2 that allowed my other granddaughter to be tortured by a couple of other Mean Girls. I will go over their heads if I have to do that.

Wednesday is Awards Assembly for a grandson and then the other grandson's graduation that night.

I also need to get to Social Security because they did something and claim I owe a lot of money back but won't give me an accounting. Since they determined the checks I don't see how it's my fault. Of course the paperwork I requested never came so I need to go in person and deal with that. I also need to find a ride home from the airport after the cruise because my mom forgot and is heading to Virginia that weekend to see my brother and his family, and finally meet her twin great-granddaughters. If I have to I'll park at the airport but I am hoping to avoid that.

My problems seem trivial to what some of you are going through but they are a lot when they pile on top of one another. I figure that which dies not kill us eventually makes us stronger.

Hope you all have a great rest of the day.

Yesterday we had a great day taking the dogs out, then we ran some errands. One of us stayed in the car with the AC on each place we went. We got lunch and ate in the car, and felt bad, so got the dogs each a plain cheeseburger at McD’s. Toto always gets one after a grooming and never has an issue. Well it must’ve upset Grady’s tummy because he had an accident in the house (and it looked colitis-y, which one of our Shepherds always had) so we have to not stray from his regular diet anymore. I could tell he felt bad, but we told him not to worry about it. Poor thing.

DD and her bf are having a good time at WDW. She thought the Genie+ worked well for them at the Studios. @Canadisney Fly, I think you will like Boma! That’s always a must-do for us. Lots of different foods to choose from. They were not hungry for the rest of the day, lol. I love that juice, Tropicana makes one like it that I usually buy after a trip.

@dazedx3 What about an American Chop Suey? Those are easy and everyone seems to like it. We’re making that tonight, or hamburgers, can’t decide. Last night we grilled some sirloin strips and had baked potatoes and string beans with them. Really good.

Hugs and 🙏🏻 to those struggling and those who need them. Enjoy your vacations those who are going away!

I saw a great political cartoon about the hearings today. I can’t post it, though.

Not much else going on. We are off for the week so it’s nice to not have to do anything. Too bad we have so much to do! :lmao: What we get to, we get too. Rest and renewal are important, too.

🐥

I need a pool!
Me, too!!!!! We go back and forth, pool or (another) boat. I'm tired of living on the boat -go-round, and we agreed we should put in a pool. So guess what, looking at another boat :lmao: I've been told that it will "save us money on crabs this summer". rrriiiggghhhhtttt
Puttered around in the basement yesterday uncluttering more stuff. Lots of stuff we never use, or don't need, and I'm tired of moving one thing to get to another.
We need to start going thru stuff as well.
How are things with your new dog? It sounds like he will need a lot of TLC to recover. I missed if you posted his name.
Thanks for asking, he's doing good. I described it to someone else earlier today, if on a scale of 0-10 he came to us as a 0, he is a solid 2 now. We even got a butt wiggle out of him yesterday. His name is Henry. He will need a lot of TLC, you've got that right. We are going to try our best, he for sure will be with us longer than our average foster, which is about 2 months.
I am trying to think of a meal to make ahead for our vacation, but I’m
drawing a blank. Any ideas?
I'm not to good with that stuff, But I once did take a leg of lamb down to the BVI's , frozen in my checked bag.
Anyone else watching the Jan 6 committee hearings?
I listed a bit, seemed like some of the info was rehashed, but I was only listening with half a ear. It's something else alright.
My good news is the radiation for skin cancer on my face did the jo
yay!!

Excellent! I love a last minute get away, enjoy your trip!

They did the Mummers Strut down the aisle
I love a mummers strut! Reminds me of my childhood across the river. Congrats to your Aunts! I love their take on brides wearing white!
I will go over their heads if I have to do that.
Hey, sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do - damn the torpedos!

Well I stopped by the check in, but now I've lost track of the time and have to go.

Grilled pork roast and ??????? for dinner tonight.

Went to see the new Jurassic Park movie this morning with DD and the GK's. I enjoyed it and all the references to the past movies. The mighty T-Rex always wins!

It's hot, hot, hot! Upper 90's the rest of the week and into the low 100's after that is predicted for us. Feels like 101 right now. Fortunately the wind is blowing. DH is out there in that heat today trenching a rough for a new house. He came home for a couple of hours to cool off and is back out there again.

:hug:Taz, my own grandparents were so role models to me. I'm truly grateful you have such good memories of your own. May some of those happy moment with them brings you a smile today. Congratulations to your Aunts. Prayers for Ella! Extra love to you, grandma as you so kindly continue to care for your grandkids!

Pea, I'm so glad your DD and her friend are having fun at WDW. Aw, prayers for Grady to feel better!

Continued and always, thank you, Easyas for the love and companionship you are giving to Henry. He's a blessed dog that is for sure.

Your poor DH, Kirby. You had the right of a idea of a cool movie. So glad all of you enjoyed it.

I hope you are also keeping cool, Carol.

We had a nice surprise a little while ago when our regular Sparkletts delivery man Sandro, he's such a nice guy, brought by two replacement bottles for the two leaky bottles. We were all out of bigger bottles until his scheduled day on Wednesday. Blessing indeed.

Just a quick stop in for the night. Not really much to report. It's been another long and emotional day. I keep thinking surly things can't get worse, but they do. I know it's going to get way worse before it starts to get better but, man I really could use a break every now and again. I know many on this little thread could use a break about now.

It's going to be HOT HOT here the rest of the week. I am not a fan.

I got a call from another place I applied to for a job for an interview next Friday. This is a job I think I'd really like and would be about perfect hours. So, I'm praying it works out, but if it doesn't, I'll have the other one to fall back on. I was very clear with the kind woman when I tentatively accepted the other job that my life is a circus at the moment and I can make no guarantees that I'll still be able to accept the job down the road. She told me that she understands and wanted me to still fill out the paperwork so that I have a job come school starting. She just asked if I could let her know by the first week of August if it isn't going to work out. Very kind indeed.

As always, hugs and prayers to all who are in the middle of a mess.
