Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

That is my prayer as well, Lynn, that MIA Quackers are simply busy in a happy way. In God's time if it is His will, we will hear from them again. You, my friend, keep cool!

Paws and prayers dear Pea for your new dog to come. I also look forward to pictures and learning his name, too. Thank you for giving him a forever loving home!

:grouphug:Frog, prayers you indeed remember that indeed you did nothing wrong! One step at a time, my friend, and I truly admire your courage and your kind and loving care to your kiddos!

Congratulations to you and your DH, Taz. So good to see you! Wishing you a wonderful cruise to come 🛳️

Much 🙏Judique for Monday!

Yay Lou Lou, Kirby🏊‍♀️ Proud of her from afar! I have no memory of them but had my first swimming lessons at a little older (I think) than Lou Lou at the private school I went to from 4 or 5 to 8.

PollyannaMom, that sounds like swampy weather, yuck! Keep cool and inside if you can!

Waving hi to you, Bobbiwoz, hope you are enjoying your trip!

It's a little warmer here this morning. Still overcast. May Gray. Getting a few book packages ready to be mailed and waiting for Amazon to deliver hopefully to our door and not to the building next door the way they did a few days ago, a new waist bag for dad. He uses the bag whenever he goes out to better keep money, etc. safe. We will finally watch some of Love On Harbor Island later.

Wishing all of you dear you a good Saturday. Thinking of you Snowysmom!

@Pea-n-Me Congrats on your doggie coming home. I know he will need some time to calm down a bit and get used to a new home. Can't wait to see pictures.

Frog It sound like you are doing what you can to take care of things. You can hold your head high as you did nothing wrong. I hope the house works out well for you.

New grandbaby is here. His name is Samuel Christopher. He is 8 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long. DDIL went into the hospital around 8:30 pm last night and Sam was born a little after midnight. DS left the room while she got the epidural and the nurse came out to say baby was on the way and come back in. He is a bruiser. He reminds me of DS when he was born. Sam has the same poses and chubby face. I did not even know that they were at the hospital last night. I was so tired I basically passed out and missed the text. My phone was on vibrate so I also slept through the text that baby was here. I found out this morning when I checked texts. I was assuming DDIL was going to be induced today. I feel silly for sleeping through it all but this week has been such a busy stressful week it caught up with me. They should be coming home tomorrow so I will head over to their house to hold the baby. I am so sad Chris is not here but I know he is in spirit and knows about Sam. Maybe he has already held him.

Older DS set up my security system and TV at the condo. I emptied some more boxes and found the trash chute and tested it out with a large bag of trash. We found recycling and put alot of boxes in there. I have to buy 2 new lamps as the ones from the house are old and not working well. I also need one for the bedroom. People seem to be nice except the one guy who has nothing better to do than be cranky but maybe he has a tough life. I have alot to do before I can move in so I am fortunate my DS lets me stay with him. It will be hard to get to the condo during the week but I may go one day for a quick visit and empty a couple of boxes. I will go to the house tomorrow, finish vacuuming, and bring the rest of the stuff to the condo. I will also put out the trash and hopefully I won't have to go back at all and can make a clean break. Wish me luck.

Have a good rest of the day.

Congrats on the new baby, Snowy!

Just a quick pop in. We have a severe thunderstorm warning rn; it's very rumbly out, and it went from light to dark in a matter of minutes.

Had 4 Rivers for lunch; I had burnt ends, fries, fried okra, southwestern corn and their cornbread. DH had the burnt ends, collard greens, mac n cheese, bbq beans and cornbread. Having Chicken veniza or something like that for dinner (it's a rolled, filled chicken thing from Fresh Market), with salad for me, and roasted sweet potatoes and salad for DH.

Have a good day all.

Welcome, Samuel Christopher! God Bless him and always you, dear Snowysmom! I really love his name. I was actually sharing earlier with a friend that my own beloved Grandpa's name was Sam. I believe all the more that he along with my Grandma, are friends with your precious Chris in Heaven. Chris absolutely knows Samuel! Remember, after all. before we are even formed in the womb let alone sent here to Earth God knows us intimately and Heaven besides being our Eternal Home is also our very first Home. Prayers for all of you with much love!

I haven’t really had time to read through all of today’s posts. I will later, though. Busy day. Didn’t sleep too well last night, I think I was just a little nervous in anticipation of today. Anyway, things went very well. Dog was trembling the whole ride home, so I couldn’t wait to get here. Once home, we walked the two dogs together, then let them meet in the yard, and spend time in the house, etc. He really took to DS, and I think feels safe with him. It won’t surprise me if he sleeps with him tonight!! We sat out on the screened porch for a while this afternoon without Toto just so he could decompress a little, and he did. It was nice. You’ll appreciate this - I bought a bed for the new dog, and we tried to get him to use it today, but he wasn’t interested. So you-know-who hopped on it (even though he never uses a bed), but the big thing is, they settled in nicely together. And for the first time today, he’s really relaxed. Phew! Made it through Day 1! We did also manage to get a lot of hair off of him (and left it out for the birds). Going to hold off on a bath for now, until he’s more settled. He is a beautiful and sweet boy, for sure. :lovestruc Thank you so much for all the prayers and well wishes!

BTW his name is Grady. We shortened it from Granddaddy. I thought that seemed an usual name. Until it hit me that my love of German Shepherds comes from my father, ie Grampa, as I call him when speaking of him to my kids (who never got to meet him). The really funny part about that, is that 20 yrs ago, I had a really strange thing happen which was, without a doubt, from Grandpa. It was a big bday year for me (and I got sick the following year, which was life-changing for me). This is another big bday year for me, and this month is Grampa’s bday, so I feel there is some significance that I’ve been trying to find the right dog for our family for so long, and here he is, finally, with that name, during this year, and this month, etc. I consider him heaven-sent! :littleangel:

Congratulations on your new grandson Snowy!

And so happy that you have your new dog Pea!

Today has been very windy, the air quality much better than yesterday. We're under a thunderstorm watch until 11:00 this evening but I think that it's all going to be south and east of us. We have a chance of rain for the next five days.

Treated myself to a pedicure this morning. I actually didn't get up until about 9:00 this morning. I haven't had a chance to rest after the wedding last weekend so decided to take it easy today. I did a couple loads of laundry and watched a little on tv that I had recorded.

DH and I went to dinner with friends this evening. Tried out a new mexican food restaurant, Pablo's Restaurant and Cantina. I got brisket enchiladas. The brisket was tender but I did not care for the sauce they put on top. I scraped it off and put cheese queso on top instead. Had a margarita which made me loopy for a couple of hours but only when I stood up. I don't drink much so it doesn't take much to do me in. 😄

Good sunny morning all. Only going to be 88 today instead of 94..think we will notice a difference? Tomorrow is only going to be in the 70's. But it's nice to look out at the yard and see everything nice and green and neat. I think next weekend will be garden planting. I have to till one more time, then put down the landscape fabric and then plant. Since I only have 1/2 the amount of tomato plants this year, it shouldn't take me forever. I have no plans for the day..just got a roast pork ready to go in the crockpot.

@Pea-n-Me --Welcome to the newest DIS furbaby. Grady is beautiful! I hope he adjusts quickly, and I love that he and Toto are already becoming friends!

Have a great day all

Happy Sunday :flower2:

Welcome to the world Samuel! And welcome home Grady! :welcome:

Snowysmom - congratulations for the new grandbaby. Glad everything went well.

Pea-n-Me - Grady is beautiful!!!! He looks like he's already making himself at home.:dog:

Tazdev3225 - Love the shirts!!! ::yes::

Frog - don't feel embarrassed. It wasn't you decision to leave, you were left without a choice. I was the same way, I didn't tell anyone, including my family, that my ex moved out because I was embarrassed. Took me a while to get over that.

We had another bad storm roll through during the night last night. Took a while to fall asleep because I could hear my dog walking around in the living room. I kept calling him to my bedroom but he wouldn't come in. I felt bad for him because I knew he was scared of the thunder :scared:. The temperature dropped dramatically overnight. The past 3 days we were in the upper 80's to low 90's with humidity, today starts a string of 70's for the next few days.

Working the weekend so not doing anything fun.

Well I have to stop here, we just had a baby born so I need to get back to work. Have a great day! :wave2:

Pea, love the new doggy! Shepards have a special place in my heart; they are so loyal once you earn their trust.

Frog, stay strong. You can do this. Don't worry about what anybody else thinks; the only ones that matter are your kids.

Rough storms yesterday, and tons of rain. Lost some dead fronds off the palm trees up front. Supposed to get more today; it's already 83 @ 11am, real feel 92; high of 89.

Making stewed jerk pork shoulder w/ onions and peppers, and brown rice for lunch; going to have leftovers from yesterday + salad for dinner tonight.

DH and I might get that buffet server put together today, if his back stops hurting. Driving all over the state and staying in 5 different hotels, with 5 bad beds did him in.

We watched the new Rescue Rangers movie on D+; it was actually pretty funny! Lots of stuff in the background, tons of 'Easter eggs'. The last couple of weeks, we've purchased some movies to watch on Amazon: Uncharted (pretty good); Moonfall (meh to me; DH liked); and Dog (we liked; definitely not for littles). We also watched The Lost City on (Epix, I think); pretty funny.

Gotta go switch out loads. have a good day all!

I was outside weedwacking down the dead weeds I had used a homemade weed killer on in the inside of the garden fence. Saw a big firetruck coming slowly down the road,,turn around at the bldg across the street and head back the other way. Then 2 ambulances came flying by, sirens going, but stopped not too far down the road. I went out to look and see what was going on (only to the front of my front lawn) and Shelby from next door came out too. Apparently when her Dad had walked down to her house earlier (she lives next door to us), there was some guy drugged out,,wandering in and out of the road. Her Dad called 911, but wasn't about to go near the guy, he could have had a knife or worse. When we looked down the street, a paramedic had the guy on the ground on a side street,,trying to revive him from an OD. We saw him look at the other paramedic and shake his head 'no'. Apparently they were too late :( I felt like saying to the druggie guy next door (but of course I didn't), "You should take a lesson from that,,and stop using" Too many drugs in town around here. We are in the county, past the town line so its not so bad out here. At one time they were trying to put a methadone clinic right across the street in what is now 3 apartments, but we all petitioned the city. We were already finding syringes in the storm drain gulleys, and we wanted no part of it. They put it in about 2 miles down the road, so we don't have to deal it.
Then I got the tiller out, and ran it thru the garden on cultivate,,then on till,,and cleaned it off and put it away. That is my only chore for the day, and will save me time next weekend.

❤️:dogdance:Grady and of course, dear Toto, too, Pea! God Bless them both. Beautiful pups and so caring. Grady is the name of a little boy who used to come to some of the church summer camps along with his two older brothers that I worked at. Grady the dog was definitely Heaven-sent indeed. God's timing is forever on time. Thank you again and always for giving him a safe and loving home.

Just, wow. Lynn and prayers all-around. You PLEASE stay safe:grouphug:! As always I love your morning ::MickeyMo::MinnieMopicture

Glad you enjoyed the Rescue Rangers, B&B. Your weather sure sounds wild and woolly. please take care and stay dry! You do the same, Footballmouse!:umbrella:

Hooray that you treated yourself to some R&R, Kirby! Prayers all in your family are all well and that all of you are enjoying the weekend :)

Dad and I finished watching Love On Harbor Island. As always, I loved, the quaint, picturesque Hallmark-movie family inn. I do, of course, prefer the Christmas inns 🌲Marcus was handsome and the dogs all adorable. Wow the scenery was just beautiful! So tranquil and pretty. It was a cute movie without much to it. Dad and I both wondered why Lily and Marcus didn't adopt one of the rescue dogs at the end. It seemed like the dog rescue aspect of the movie fizzled out as did the fact that Marcus was supposed to be a pilot who often transported rescued dogs to their new forever home. Dad said we never did see him fly a plane. We both enjoyed the lantern festival and said if we entered such a contest we'd somehow (no clue how we would do so) build a dog lantern and make its tail wag. We both did wonder why there was no dog lantern entered. I would have also enjoyed learning more about Aunt Maggie and Lily's past along with catching a glimpse of the Inn in the future. Maybe there will be a sequel :)

Happy Sunday to all1

Happy Sunday all....super boring weekend for DD and I.

Congrats on the new grandbaby @Snowysmom

@Pea-n-Me So happy to read you got your new pup and he seems to be settling in. I laughed when I read about Toto and the dog bed...that's something Buddy used to do with Bingo and his toys(usually a ball). Buddy doesn't care for toys but as soon as Bingo would let go of his favorite ball, Buddy would rush over and grab it in his mouth and just go lay down. Bingo would get so upset until Buddy got tired of holding it...

@tazdev3225 I love your cruise shirts. Super cute.

@Kirby Your son's wedding looked beautiful.

Umm....I think that's all I remembered I wanted to say...I really need go start using the quote feature again...:sad2:lol

This week is a busy week for me. I have follow up mammogram tomorrow, I need to drive my an appointment Wednesday. Thursday I have nail appt with a pedicure and Friday morning, I have a dental cleaning before my sister and come to spend the night. This weekend, my sister, niece, our dad and I are taking a drive to my brother's along the central coast...its about a 4 hour drive and we're staying until Monday.

DD will be in charge of all the dogs as DH will still be out of town. She going to ask a friend to stay the night at our house with Buddy, they'll hang out during the day and then DD will go stay with my dad's dogs at night. LoL

Hope you all have a great rest of the day. I'm trying really had to get out of my funk...I don't know what the deal is. After my mammo tomorrow maybe I'll go do a little retail therapy, or at least window shopping therapy. :scratchin

He's beautiful! Now I wish I'd taken a photo of the one my friend has. They got him last summer and he's not quite a year yet, but huge and almost all black in color. But, so well behaved! I was impressed. I'd stopped by there yesterday to pick up my fresh eggs that her chickens laid for me and he was out having some time with the family in the shady backyard during our heat wave.

I went out for a bit this morning but didn't do much but drink my coffee.

Came back in and declared war on the ants in my kitchen again.

And, my arm hurts a lot today. Can't wait to see doc tomorrow.

@Pea-n-Me Beautiful new dog. Grady is a nice name. I am glad Toto and Grady get along.

I got to hold my new grandbaby today. DDIL, DS, and Sam came home from the hospital. I went to their house and saw the little cutie. He is so adorable. I loved holding him. I did cry as I knew I would but I did feel calm while holding him so I suspect Chris was near. Older DS came over too and he held the baby. It was nice to have quiet time with Sam.

I cleaned out the house today so I am hoping not go to back inside. I only want to have to take out the trash on wed. I emptied more boxes in the condo and vacuumed. I am stressing too much about where to put things. I am j
just putting them away and then I will deal with it later.

Have a nice night.

Good Sunday evening to all of you!

A cool front blew in last evening dropping our temps into the 60's. Oh, it felt so good. Had a high of 65 today and expect 60's and 70's for the next couple of days, maybe some rain too.

Went to the early service today and Sunday School. Our preacher taught our class today. One of our regular teachers played a joke on him. Last week this teacher put up a list of Bee Gee songs on the overhead screen and said that the preacher didn't care for that singing group. He asked that anyone answering a question or making a comment include a title to one of those songs in what they said. DH and I were not there last week so we had no clue this was all going on. The class members that participated did such a good job of incorporating the song titles in what they were saying. Looking back I can see how he would pause and then continue like he recognized a song title and wondered. At the end of class, our teacher told him what had happened. We all had a good laugh. The preacher then realized what had gone on and said "Good one!". One of the people that had responded to him showed him the list of the songs they were to use and then the preacher began to exclaim, No way! and Now that makes sense! I hope that I was able to convey properly what happened because it was pretty funny.

After church DH and I went out for breakfast. We ate at our current fav breakfast place, Lonestar 66 Diner. I think that is what it's called. Anyway, I got a Texas omelette which had bell pepper, onion, mushroom and cheese in it with hashbrown potatoes and toast. DH got a Bacado Omelette which had probably what mine had with bacon in it, slices of avocado and grits. We had coffee too, it's really good there and I'm paying for it tonight. Should have gotten the decaf.

Came home and DH went outside to work in the yard for most of the afternoon. DD helped me put up decals I had bought for the kids for their birthdays. I wanted to put them up while they were gone and surprise them. They were ecstatic!

20220522_190636.jpg20220522_190712.jpg20220522_190654.jpg

Then a little later a friend picked me up and we went to meet six other friends to see the new Downton Abby movie. It was good. I don't know if there will be anymore of them or a new series but if there isn't, it was a good ending to everything.

Dinner was Whataburger that DD and DH picked up on the way home from picking up the GK's. So glad that they are home now!

Evening thread save to wish everyone sweet dreams.

:grouphug:Snowysmom. God Bless little Sam. I'm so glad you got to hold him today. You are and will continue to be very special in his life!

Hug to you as well Kirby, truly glad you also had a good Sunday!

Dad did the cupcake puzzle today. I wasn't of much help once we realized the pieces (it's a mini puzzle) are truly teeny. I did a few pieces, and it just wasn't much fun. For dad either, but he chose to stick with it. I don't think we will be doing the typewriter mini puzzle at least not any time soon! Both puzzles are shaped which is interesting. We had never done one of those before. I admit to preferring regular shaped puzzles. Guess like most things, I'm traditional when it comes to puzzles lol. It was super kind of Janet to send them. Hopefully next time dad goes to the Dollar Tree he'll find a regular 100-piece puzzle.

Well this is what I get for trying to reply to yesterday’s posts - before reading today’s. Totally not updated. 🙄 I thought I was being good, lol. So if I didn’t address today’s posts, I apologize. At this point my eyes are closing; I’m beat!

@bobbiwoz I wanted to say congratulations on finishing your radiation! Nice to have that behind you! 🎉

@frog3101 I admire your courage. Just keep doing what you’re doing. 👍🏻 I know it must be super hard.

@Judique I would love to go to a Scottish festival someday! DH and the kids have Scottish heritage and got more into it watching Outlander. I got them some tee shirts and other memorabilia with their clan name on it. Very cool!

@tazdev3225 Thanks for sharing your story of your older rescue dog. That’s what I love about dogs, they are so darned funny! I’m glad your house is feeling more cozy now. Is your daughter in law a nurse, too? (I know your daughter is.)

@Snowysmom I adore the little one’s name!! That’s something I would pick myself. ::yes:: I hope you’re doing ok.

Hey to Mona, Lynn, easy, and B&B, footballmouse, Kirby, glad you’re enjoying the early summer season a bit. Auntie, dazed, hope you’re doing ok.

I was out looking at our gardens and they’re coming along pretty well. We have herbs and vegetable and strawberries, etc. I have to get a few plants for our deck wall hanging planter. I prefer to put herbs in there as it’s closer to the kitchen, but DH put them in the garden which is way down back. We were supposed to open our pool today but DH and DS went out fishing and it was such a glorious day they stayed out there longer than expected, so we’ll get that done later this week. They took DD and her bf out on the boat and they had fun. The bf caught more fish than anyone which was sort of funny and ironic since he is just learning to fish and it’s a serious hobby for DH and DS! 🤣 They all managed to get pretty sunburned, too. (Note to self: throw some sunscreen on the boat!)

If anyone has any good thoughts or prayers to spare for DS - he has a decision he has to make by tomorrow re a career choice - an opportunity, really. He is not sure which way to go - to continue on the path he’s been working towards more recently, or to sidestep a bit and take a chance on something unexpected that came along last week, but was also something he’d been working toward previously. It’s a difficult choice, and he’s struggling to decide. Praying that he makes the choice that is right for him, and that we can be supportive of whichever he chooses, even if we might have made a different choice. Ugh! This parenting thing is hard! But thank you, in advance. He’s been working hard trying to establish himself. We wound up Friday night giving him some career-related gifts we’d bought him after he completed his course recently, to lift his spirits. We were going to wait until he takes his licensing exam (and passes), but we thought he needed a little boost. It was nice to see a smile on his face when he opened them. He was surprised we’d gotten them, and appreciative.
