Good afternoon.

I have been slow at getting back to posting here.

Yesterday we went to the last illuminated fountain show of the season at Longwood Gardens. It was Halloween themed music. DD and her family and her in-laws all went. We ate dinner there and walked around a little before the performance. It was sold out. It was our second time there this week.. DH and I went on Wednesday afternoon, then to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner to celebrate our 37th anniversary.

We went to church this morning. A little later this afternoon, we are going to DD's house, as are her in-laws. After an early dinner of pizza or subs, the women are taking the kids trick or treating and the men are staying home to hand out treats.

Thinking about Lynn and wondering how she is doing.

Good afternoon friends :)

That sounds like a fun Sunday, Carol. I enjoyed worship this morning and especially that All Saints Day as in remembering those we have loved who have gone onto Glory before us and even those part of the greater faith community/church family were included. Tomorrow would have been my grandma's 102nd birthday! I know she and grandpa along with Champ will celebrate in Heaven.

Prayers indeed continuing for Lynn.

Feeling ok. More new meds, probably another few days here trying to see what meds are going to work or not work. Mr L doing okay at home. It's kind of forcing him to more for himself, which is badly needed. He has a device check and cardio appt tomorrow. Summer is taking him. She did laundry yesterday, cleaned carpets. And did some of the outside stiff today. Will never be able to thank her enough. Thank you all for your continued good thoughts x and prayers. @tazdev3225, sorry things are still so hard for you. Sending you love and hugs

Bumping.
Life has been moving at a pretty quick pace. It’s not even Monday morning and I already feel behind for this coming week. Plenty to be thankful for though and it will all be ok, just busy and a bit crazy
Prayers continued for all Quackers who need them.
footballmouse, I vote for ordering you and your sons fave. meal and celebrating that way.
Sleep well all.

Good morning all. I can be first again for a change? Lol. Not feeling too bad this morning. I got up at 2 am and took a shower. Had nurse get me a fresh gown and climbed back into bed feeling refreshed slept for another few hours, and now the whole hospital is waking up. Hard to believe that it's November 1 already, isn't it? I hope everyone has a nice day, will try to check in later and hugs to all!!!

^ You sound a lot better, Lynn. That’s good. 👍🏻

Hugs to Snowysmom. I remember having to do that when my father died. I was only 25. I still haven’t gone through my mother’s things yet - was too exhausted after caring for her through her illness and work was too stressful with Covid and all that. I still have to one of these days, thankfully no rush. Just in the bathroom I use in her house (attached) I see some of her things in drawers and it’s hard to think about doing the other stuff. Been talking to DH about purging our house and he agrees we will. 🤞🏻 You’re in my thoughts.

Worked some tough shifts. Got to hand out candy last night with DH and DD (and Toto all dressed up), but was barely awake. Had coffee instead of my usual glass of wine on Halloween night! 😵‍💫 Have to work today, too, then have a few days off. Brought in food this weekend for a beloved coworker who is leaving (another one bites the dust!). Had tons of stuff to carry in but it was raining in buckets had to fish out an umbrella in my car and it was broken and hurt my finger. Also dropped and splattered my brand new ice coffee that I’d taken one sip of in the process. 😬 Lakes on roads after heavy rains. Saw one car hydroplane so had to take it very slow. Stopped to get milk on way home, many stores were completely out of milk after power outage, they’d thrown it all away! I tried two stores, then said forget it. DD went out and found some somewhere later.

Friend is at WDW now, she said it’s nuts and is not happy about a lot of changes as a long time DVC owner. Ranted last night. I’m glad we went before the craziness started. DS is going with his girlfriend’s family next week. I hope flights are ok. He can help them maneuver the parks but it might be challenging as a first trip with their younger kids.

Have a good day, everyone! 🐥 All are always in my prayers! 🙏

I was surprised by how many dressed up doggies I saw, too - a few going around with their humans, and my neighbors' pup helping hand out candy like Toto. He was a pumpkin. What was Toto?

That sounds like fun!

Honestly - for me at least - it's that I have nothing new to say, nothing new to report. Life goes on and so on and so forth...the immediate uncomfortableness of Covid-19 has waned and for a majority of folks, even if they've suffered losses of personal or financial loss they have tried to get back to some semblance of everyday normal. I try to post on here every few days, but I do find myself trying to come up with something to say outside of 'had a meeting today' and 'chicken for dinner'.

Feeling ok. More new meds, probably another few days here trying to see what meds are going to work or not work. Mr L doing okay at home. It's kind of forcing him to more for himself, which is badly needed.
Not feeling too bad this morning

Glad to read both of these things, and that you are getting some rest, even if under less than perfect circumstances. Sounds like your family has really rallied around both you & Mr. L which must be going a long way to helping you both get back on your feet.

Friend is at WDW now, she said it’s nuts and is not happy about a lot of changes as a long time DVC owner.

Young lady who works for us just came back from a week at WDW, she was there last week. She said that they had a wonderful time and that the crowds weren't to bad but the buses were horrible. Of course, to say she was excited about the trip is a understatement, plus she got engaged while there so that may be giving a rose colored tint to it! We are going at the beginning of Feb., and were last there this past January...it's still a fun little getaway for us but the more they add all the need for tech and to be on one's phone for everything the more turned off I get. There is no spontaneity to our trips anymore. It's where we go to relax for short get a ways, not full blown vacations still - but once it starts becoming more work and less relaxing I think the shine will be gone for us.

He was in his hot dog costume! Some kid said, “I like your wiener”. :rotfl:

We went over to my BIL & SIL's place Saturday as their entire neighborhood was doing trick or treat Saturday evening. Saw lots of dogs in costumes! Man it was a mob scene, they ran out of candy (put together 200 bags) in 45 minutes. I couldn't believe it.

We've got our first frost warnings up for later this week, so I guess it really is time to pack away the Capri's, including the pair I'm wearing today:rolleyes:. I know others don't care for it, but I love when daylight saving ends and it gets dark by about 5 or so. It's always seemed like such a cozy time of year for me. This weekend we moved some of the porch furniture off the porch and back up into the barn. We had the baby excavator at the farm so we moved two trees that we wanted to relocate. Fingers crossed we got enough of the roots! We moved some firewood up to the rack under the porch for the wood burning stove in the basement and to the rack on the upper porch for the fireplace in our sitting room. I bought a new upright freezer and it arrived about 6 weeks ago, but I've not unpacked it yet, but that may be on the agenda this coming weekend, along with taking apart the dining room table. Both of them are relocating to eldest new house once he goes to settlement! I also finished emptying the pots of the last few plants & flowers that were just about no more on the porch. I have 2 mums left that I should get in the ground soon so I can enjoy them in the coming years.

So yesterday I worked on making shrimp bisque, I am thinking of having it as part of my Thanksgiving menu - well really I guess a mid-day food since we traditionally eat our thanksgiving dinner later in the day around 4:30 or so - and I was very pleased with how it turning out. That's what we will have for dinner this evening. I think maybe lamb burgers tomorrow. Youngest will be home this coming weekend, so I will make some effort with breakfast for him - he works nights now and when he is over here is hunting or fishing in the late afternoon or evening. I don't think I've bought syrup or pancake mix in 2 years or so, so I think I'll pick up some of that and get a lb. of bacon out of the freezer. Maybe some cinnamon rolls, too. I'm pretty sure he lives on microwave breakfast sandwiches or whatever the hotel is serving for breakfast (he's living in a extended stay hotel outside of DC for about a year).

Happy Monday ☀ .

Sun is shining in my area, finally. Got out and took the Halloween decorations down.

Working from home today and I've actually been pretty busy this morning. Things have slowed down in the afternoon so I was able to get some of "my" stuff done, like my homework, meal prepping for the week, and getting the dishes done. I worked all weekend so things tend to get backed up on the weekends.

I'd really like to grab a nap so hopefully I can doze off for about 15 minutes. Going to toss some shrimp and lemon slices in the oven tonight and call that dinner. I'll add some macc & cheese for ds.

Hope everyone has a good day. :-)

Happy November to all of you!

Thank you, Lynn, for checking in with us. You do sound more relaxed and (I pray) rested which you know makes me so thankful. Prayers continuing for you and Mr. L, as well.

:) to dressed up dogs and kiddos, too. All was quiet here yesterday. Dad did go to Pavilion's and saw one person dressed as a chipmunk!

I am so not a fan of cold calling in any form. I did call the two dentist offices that were recommended by my beloved dentist who is retiring at the end of the year. I have an appointment tentatively with one of them. His practice comes across as smaller, more down to earth, and more in keeping with what I'm used to and so appreciate about the current dentist. The other dentist's practice is much busier, newer, and "fancier" in options. I did email the dentist I went with a little about my more specific dental needs. Hopefully he replies in kind.

I must have Covid brain part. Yesterday, I shared today would have been my grandma's 102nd birthday. I meant 103rd. Guess some part of my mind still thinks its 2020 :P

Sometimes there's not much to say and that's quite okay. Just may each of you know, we all care and it matters to me that's for sure to know all of you Quackers are safe and well.

I'll check back in later.

Good afternoon.

Yesterday was fun. Got to DD's house and gave the kids shirts we bought in Sanibel. Then had pizza for dinner. DSIL, his parents, and my DH stayed home with a fire pit fire in the front yard and gave out candy. Lots of homes do that in their neighborhood - sit outside with fires. DD and I took the kids out trick or treating. The funniest was when DGD went up to one house toward the end of the evening. The teenage son was sitting outside giving out candy. They all recognize each other from their evening walks. DGD says "Can I ask a question? You need to cut your grass." Luckily the guy thought it was funny. Said it was the best comment all night. (Their grass was not that bad.)

Today DH and I drove up to the Lancaster outlets. We each got good deals on lightweight jackets. Managed to get home without stopping for food. It was a beautiful drive through the countryside.

I think that is exactly how I feel. At the beginning, we were all homebound and anxious and things are slowly returning to a new normal.

DH and I were just saying the same thing today. He wants to go to WDW and I am not so interested. I said it is less spontaneous and requires too much planning.

I have a Zoom worship team meeting tonight. Must not forget.

I just finished a book for our reading group that I really enjoyed - The Rent Collector by Camron Wright.

That sounds like a lot of fun, Carol. :) Kids do say/ask the funniest/most honest at times things/questions that's for sure. What did your grandkids dress up as?

Too much technology=too much technology! I much more old fashioned in preferences overall that is for sure.

🙏🌼 to all.

While I am not feeling as bad, I will now have to meet with a cardiac surgeon to find out my mitral valve options. Apparently have a bad mitral valve, which either needs to be replaced or clipped or to see what else can be done. Pretty scary stuff. Hubby had Dr's appt today and stepdaughter snuck him in here to see me. We both needed that!!!

Lynn, glad you got to see Mr. L. And wait to see what the surgeon says. Did you know you had any issues with the mitral valve?

Mona, Tessa was Ariel. DD put hair chalk in her hair to make it red. Carter wore Tessa’s hand me down, home made, Flounder costume. It has a fin on the back. I knit the hat.

:grouphug:and extra prayers and ❤, Lynn. Thinking of you!

Carol, your grandkids are so cute! What a great picture. Thank you for sharing with us :)

I got my new comforter from Walmart earlier today. It's exactly what I hoped for. It's the same lighter, but definitely warmer than just my regular blanket, weight. The material is also softer/smoother than my current comforter. Plus, the new one is plain simpler, though it does have some upbeat colors in stripes. As a bonus, the comforter was part of a set that included sheets which surprised both dad and I at how soft they are. Definitely a bargain! Dad's new comforter is expected next week and is also a part of a sheet set. We're hoping he likes his just as much. Both will have to be washed (one drawback to all this but then dad's current comforter would need to be washed before he would use it again anyway) before we'll know for sure but so far, so good.

Weather has definitely turned here. Much cooler. I miss the sunshine.

Have a good rest of the afternoon and evening!

No Carol, I had no idea I had any kind of heart issues. So this was kind of overwhelming. Your grandkids are adorable. Thanks for sharing!
