Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good Morning everyone.

Dinner is in the crockpot so it will be easy tonight. Anthony has a baseball game. I'll also have dinner for another night or 2. I made chili which my husband has wanted since football season started. I should get 3 meals out of it because I will add rice for the last night to stretch it.

I just got back from the foot doctor and I can go without a bandage on my foot for the first time since JULY!!! Still have to be careful and keep moisturizing the area but it is about 95% healed. The Athlete's Foot is healing well too.

I had such a fight for the last couple of weeks trying to get one of my husband's meds refilled. For some reason this one gets overlooked and the company that manages the prescriptions kept trying his doctors office with no response. Told them again that they probably won't and if they do be scared. That doctor died a year ago from Covid. The new doctor switched practices and the replacement at the office REFUSED to fill the meds because he needs an appointment as he hasn't been seen there. He was there in June and has an appointment in November. I finally asked my husband what he thinks about it all and we have decided to follow the doctor that left the practice. The office is about 20 minutes away instead of 5 but we both liked him. The best part - he refilled the meds immediately and we will have them by Saturday.

We are expecting heavy rains tomorrow so I will be doing some more cleaning out in the house. I love my new shredder. I used it on all the paper work that had piled up and the shreds filled the box it came in. It cross shreds and handles Credit Cards too so I am happy. I got a consensus on paint and we are going 2 shades darker on the accent wall and 2 other small areas. Progress is being made.

My little guys had a football game the other day and I really do NOT like the coaches or their mentality/philosophy. Benny is a bit of a clown, nothing gets to him usually but he HATES football. The coaches refused to put him in the game because he doesn't take practice seriously. Ben sat by us and the coaches never noticed - the ENTIRE game, until my daughter went up to the one coach and said something. He flipped out. He came over and told Ben he needs to be on the field or take off his pads. If he takes off the pads he is off of the team. Monday's practice he got really snippy with my daughter and said that Ben caused the team to be fined $150. Then he screamed at these little boys for 15 minutes that just because they won 1 game they aren't winners, they are acting like losers and nobody likes a loser. He only coaches winners and they need to act like it. These boys are 5-6-7 years old. I'm glad I didn't hear that because I would have gone off. I coached for years and at this age level. Granted it was baseball but my philosophy, especially at such a young age was 1) Have FUN, 2) Learn something new and 3) HAVE FUN!!!! Ben and Wyatt both want to quit now, they are on the same team. I detest that football mentality.

QOTD: I definitely know when the Barometric pressure changes, rain or snow. I get a wicked headache and my back aches. I do think the moon can effect behaviors. When I had my youngest she was a scheduled C-Section. It was a full moon and the Delivery ward was packed so I had a room mate. The one nurse said they always saw more deliveries during a full moon than any other time of the month.

QOTD: Do weather (or moon cycles) affect your body with aches and pains?
Yes, the weather does cause some aches and pains especially in my hips. Before I had my knees replaced my knees would ache alot. I also find the the pressure with weather changes can cause a sinus or migraine headache. I haven't noticed if the full moon causes any issues. I will have to check with the next full moon.

Pea-n-Me, I've enjoyed your pictures! Sounds like you had a lovely time!

Phases of the moon/weather doesn't bother me at the moment.

Lynn, I pray that one day soon you wake up rested and no aching.

The weather today is gorgeous! Lows in the 60's this morning and highs in the 80's today with little to no humidity. We have a couple more days of it then the 90's creep back in this weekend. Perfect weather to celebrate the first day of Fall and begin the start of the State Fair of Texas on Friday.

Finally caught up on all the pages I missed. Some of these quotes are from a week ago.

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
And now Joni Mitchell is stuck in my head.

Have any of you stayed at hotel and left the car while you traveled or used off site parking? I am really conflicted as to what I should do.
We usually always leave the car in an offsite parking lot at BWI or Philadelphia. We have used the sites in Essington by the Philadelphia airport several times, I assume that is where you will fly out of. If you look at Groupon you can often get a deal. Only for our honeymoon did we spend the night at the airport hotel and leave the car there.

Came across "This or That" quiz while looking for something else, and though it might make a fun QOTD:

1. Dog or Cat? Dog

2. Netflix or YouTube? Netflix, except youtube for church

3. Phone Call or Text? It depends. Text to the kids, phone call for other things.

4. Toast or Eggs? Toast, but really yogurt

5. Cardio or Weights? Cardio, you know how we like to bike and hike

@Pea-n-Me and others. I mostly stayed calm while my kids, neither of whom were super competitive, played sports. I still hold a grudge against DS's high school tennis coach. DS was not the best player, but not the worst either. I paid for summer tennis lessons for him to improve skills. The year he was a senior, the coach never played him in competition, only exhibition. Like I said, not the best but certainly not the worst. He went to every practice and was a real team player, supporting his teammates. I went to every single home and away match and made sure I sat where coach could see me. Did not play him a single time. DS decided to skip spring sports award dinner so didn't get a letter but I supported his decision. I even spoke to the assistant coach and she had no idea why. What a jerk!

DD#1 had her baby today!
Congratulations!

Again @Pea-n-Me, sounds like a great, relaxing, COVID safe vacation. Fun to enjoy Disney even with out going into the parks.

@tazdev3225, that coach sound like a real jerk, Way to make the kids hate the sport.

Hasn't rained anymore since this morning,,but they still say it will this afternoon and evening.

It figures, I finally fall asleep on the couch watching tv..and hubby wakes me up to ask me if I am okay. The cat was laying on my chest and it was making it hard to breathe..once I pushed the cat off I was fine.

@tazdev3225 isn't there someone you can report that coach to? There is no need to treat little boys like that at all :(

Been trying to catch up on shows. Saw NCIS premiere,,liked it..saw NCIS Hawaii..did not like it,,will give it one more chance
We just made it through FBI, FBI Most Wanted and now on FBI International. I don't understand the need for 3 shows pretty much based on the same thing. I already told hubby that we are watching Survivior tonite, whether or not he wants to..I sat though enough of his shows!

No idea what is for dinner..I am not hungry and I sure don't feel like cooking. Maybe I will make hubby some spring rolls and fried clams. If I am hungry I will have soup or eggs..just don't have much of an appetite with this cold. Yesterday it felt so much better,,,today I am coughing up a storm again. Taking it easy on my back, and just ordered a back brace thing off Amazon to see if it helps

Have a nice rest of the afternoon

ITA with Lyn, Taz, little boys should absolutely not be treated that way! How awful :(

Pea, I am so thankful you had such a wonderful trip! Hooray.

Hug, Snowysmom, and I hope your back and knee are feeling better today.

That sounds like lovely weather, Kirby. Here is is 91!

Good for you, Carol! So sad that so many coaches don't seem to remember the gift of trust that they are being given in caring for kids and introducing them to what should be a fun sport experience.

Wishing everyone a good afternoon.

QOTD: Do weather (or moon cycles) affect your body with aches and pains?

I’ll further answer that sometimes even when the moon is full I feel weird. I’ll look up and notice the full moon. People think that sounds strange, until you remember that the moon affects the ocean’s tides and such, so why wouldn’t it affect bodies that are made up mostly of water? 😝

I don't usually notice anything physical with the weather, but DH sometimes gets headaches when the air pressure changes a lot.

As a former substitute teacher, though, I will tell you the full moon affecting people is definitely a thing! I've even tried to find studies about it to read up on why, but had no real luck. My pet theory is that it somehow disrupts our sleep. And not enough sleep makes everything in life harder.

Ugh. Sorry to hear about the sporting/coach issues. Situations like that are so sad, especially when a kid is trying hard and really wants to play. DS also had some sad days with rejection, too, so I know that feeling of seeing your kid hurt. 😬

We see it in the hospital, too! It’s hard to define, but you know it when you experience it! 🤪

All beautiful! Your dress was perfect! Looks like a wonderful time. :goodvibes

Hug, PollyannaMom and I'm sorry your DH is affected. I forgot about air pressure or elevation change! I am no longer able to fly in a plane (fine by me especially these days especially since longer trips would no longer work anyway) due to TMJ issues that would come from the change of cabin pressure. I do remember in the early days of my TMJ definitely feeling the impact of even driving up a canyon.

I love seeing our thread first! Beautiful family and pictures, Carol! Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. The sunset is gorgeous!

ITA, Pea! :)

Good rainy morning QUACKers. Still raining lightly, temp is 61 going to a high of 65. I took one Nyquil last nite, didn't want to take 2 in case Mr L called me and needed me, and it helped me sleep a bit more soundly. Didn't cough from 10-4. Was supposed to go grocery shopping with sister in law today, but I am not up to it, so she's going to take my list and get what we need. I so appreciate her!

Fed the outside cats at 4, even though it was raining, they were all out there. The 2 smallest ones walked in the kitchen door, until they saw Midnite, our big black inside cat eating,,and they hightailed it back outside as fast as they could..lol

Started watching Survivor , but haven't finished it yet. I think I am going to like all the changes for this season!

Matt from PT coming today, only 2 more visits after this, then discharge. Going back to bed for awhile..and hubby better go to sleep, says he only slept 30 min all night!

Have a nice morning,,back later to check in

Heading down to @easyas123 's neck of the woods this morning. A work day at our church camp, Camp Pecometh. Too bad it is going to be pouring rain.

And then DD called to see if we could watch DGS for an hour this morning. Only day we have a commitment.

Watched Survivor last night. All these new twists are confusing. And watched A Million Little Things.

Catch you later.

Hey! I was by there yesterday afternoon! It's so peaceful down Island Creek & Lands End Roads...my acupuncturist is just down the road from the retreat entrance. As of now - 8:15 AM - the wind has picked up, sky is bright towards Dover, dark towards the western shore. The rain, it's coming. Safe travels!

Perhaps he can make some recommendations for your husband to get back to a more normal sleep schedule, maybe some cognitive behavior practices or new habits or ways to combat his off sleep schedule? Has he considered returning to his bed to sleep or trying not to nap later in the day? Maybe a little more activity during the day, or something that engages his brain that isn't TV, such as reading or a puzzle or a game? Or maybe give him a chore or two to do around the house, get him back into a day -to-day routine of a bit of what he was doing prior to his hospitalization? A return to a old hobby or perhaps a new one? Or maybe there is a goal he can try to work towards? Being able to drive again? Maybe he'd like to get out of the house, go out for lunch or make a trip to the library or a park for a change of scenery? Maybe he just needs a different motivation? Does he want to travel again- that might be a motivator? Or maybe just a bit of tough love on your end about his sleep habits and daily schedule. I'm no expert - I'm just thinking aloud of ideas if I was in the situation.

Well good morning everyone. Waiting for the rain & storms to arrive. Husband put the AC back on yesterday, it wasn't that it was super hot but it was super humid. HOPEFULLY when we turn it off today that is it for the year. I really enjoy this time of year when we are able to be without AC or heat on, and enjoy the lower electric bill, too! I have a meeting this afternoon that I'm waiting to hear about, since it's going to be raining a fair bit in that area this afternoon they might send everyone home (jobsite), so I'm in a wait & see pattern.

Dinner this evening will be stuffed peppers. I actually pre-made them several weeks ago and froze them. I wanted to see how they held up and cooked up after being frozen.

Time to get this morning started -
