Stay cozy Lynn and may bad dreams stay far away from all of you! :)

It's warming up nicely here, yay.

Dad got a recall notice on his Fit on Saturday. He's had the car not quite 2 years and due to the plague has not driven it much at all. He has an appointment for a free replacement of recalled issues next week. Honda said this might take 4-6 hours! :earseek:He'll call when he's all checked in and ready to come home. We live about 15-20 minutes away from the dealership and then Honda will call him here at home when his car is ready for pickup. Because of Covid they are not offering their usual drop off or pick up service.

No mail yet here today but I am expecting two books from paperbackswap+Dad will be picking up 2 library books for me. One of the libraries closest to us is now offering by appointment outside pick up service of hold books. Dad got his first book a couple weeks ago, has finished it, so I'm trying it now. LOL, remember when the pandemic started we talked of daytime and nighttime pajamas? I still have those and wear them each daily. But now I will have daytime and bedtime books! I am not a fan of bigger hardcovers because they can be heavier and more awkward to hold. So those are the books I will try and get from the library to read during the day on the couch. Smaller books can be saved for at night. Looking forward to reading something new and trying this out :)

Have a good rest of the afternoon, everyone.

I went next door to the in-law suite and noticed the freezer door open a bit. We were in there yesterday getting ice, guess we didn't shut it all the way. Luckily only thing in there - half thawed by the time I noticed it - was a turkey breast. So I guess turkey breast is on the menu this week...and turkey soup. Hot turkey & gravy sandwiches...turkey salad. Well - you get the point! Glad I went over there and noticed it.

I'm making it a early evening tonight. Toodles all -

Holy Moly, page 2 (until easy got here.)

Glad you caught the freezer in time. When the kids were little, for some reason the freezer in the cellar was on the same circuit with the upstairs bathrooms. I guess they had to be GFCI. Anyway, I guess the kids thought it was fun to press the button on the outlet which turned it off. That is how I discovered they were the same circuit, when the freezer got turned off.

I was going to have cookout for dinner but with the rain, made spaghetti instead. I had to make a big batch of sauce from scratch, so that is done. I had planned to make meatballs to make for our trip Thursday but that can wait until tomorrow.

I finished the jigsaw DD gave me for Mother's Day. It was a fun, achievable one. Now I am going to start a harder one.

Thanks for the thread rescue, Easyas! I am also glad you caught the freezer! I had that trouble sometimes during summer camps at church with the fridges though. There'd be so much random stuff in them and then during cooking camp especially they'd be open more constantly that food inside was not being kept properly cool. Our freezers were a whole different story :P I will say one year in a small freezer at church I found (mind you this was in July) a disgusting looking ancient turkey that was STILL there so many months later, yuck. (I found out it had been put there the November before). I am glad you are able to use your own turkey :)

Have a cozy and dry evening Carol, and you, too Lynn along with Easy and anyone else where it's rainy!

To all a good night!

Good morning QUACK'ers. Temps going back into the lower 80's today with 50% chance of rain this afternoon. I hope it doesn't dry out before then and rains more, because I do not feel like mowing again. I like doing it at the start of the season, but a month or so in, it's already getting old, lol. No noise from the cicada's yet this morning, and not as many emerged overnite, as there are only a few on the trees and bushes. Another week and a half and they should be almost done with, I can't wait.

Watched Part 1 of the Voice finale last nite,,there isn't one person that I can say I really want to win, or would ever listen to their music, other than maybe Rachel Mac. She has a very unique voice, and she's only 16 I think it is.

Going to do some indoor cleaning today, my new kitchen blinds will finally be here today by UPS, 5 weeks after they told me they would ship the same week I ordered them. Oh well, better late than never.
Have a nice morning all!

Noone else has anything else to say this morning?? I have cleaned out the litter boxes, washed them and rotated them with other ones. I just finished dusting and vaccuming the dining room and living room and passed the vac through the kitchen. I think we are going to get pizza for dinner..take out,,haven't had one in ages. Just have to decide where and what kind we want. Sun trying to come out behind the clouds, now only a slight chance of rain this afternoon.

Noone else has anything else to say this morning??

Guilty!

Sometimes I find that I don't have much more to say that is different from yesterday or the day before I'm afraid!
Not much going on for me today. I watered the plants in my office...I have a meeting at 3 to go over the new website I'm having done up and I think I will need to pop out to the UPS store at some point.

I went to Kohls last night, no mask! Adding that to my list of places I can go w/o one.

I don't always have much to say that's different either..but if some of us don't comment, the thread will fall off the page. We've lost enough QUACKER's from it already. Maybe noone wants to continue it anymore?

Good thing I looked before just reaching my hand into my clothespin pail. There were about a dozen cicada's in it. I dumped it on the ground, squished all of them, and put my pins back in the bag and put it in the greenhouse until I need it.

I pray this thread will continue for a long time to come if not for always! :) Good Morning to all of you with a Tuesday hug.

What a Blessing to be feel warm already. Looks like another 80's day. Cooler the rest of the week. I'm so grateful for this warmth.

Wishing all of you joy this day and always :)

Just an update on my ebay non receipt of item case. Neither paypal nor ebay have been able to get in contact with the seller, after 12 days. I have sent 12 messages to seller, all no response. Just had another long chat with ebay, who gave me a link to 'report a seller for violating ebay policy'..would one not think that 44 people opening disputes about no response and no items shipped or received would automatically trigger that? She said nope, you have to report it using the link I am sending you , to a specialized department, which will look into the seller, all complaints, and most likely remove the seller. You think???? I have to wait till Saturday, then contact Paypal and get my money back. Never again will I buy from a new seller or one with 0 feedback. Oh,,she also told me to leave feedback NOW, as you can't do it after 90 days. Noone else has, so I will be the first one..lol.

Noone else has anything else to say this morning??
Now it's afternoon and I still don't have much. I finished the book I was reading and started another. And I made sweet and sour meatballs to freeze and take on our trip Thursday. DD is taking pulled pork for one night, left over burgers and dogs from DGS's birthday to cook out for another dinner, I am taking meatballs, and we'll figure the last when we get there.

Maybe noone wants to continue it anymore?
NOOOOO! I want to continue. I'll come and say nothing exciting to keep us going. I just can't compete with Lynn's cleaning habits. :rotfl:

Good thing I looked before just reaching my hand into my clothespin pail. There were about a dozen cicada's in it.
EEEWWWWWW!! We have a lot too. I will definitely look before doing anything. We have about 5 steps to the screened porch. I counted 10 cicadas on them this morning.

How cool to see people in the pews!
Did you see me and DH? We were on the left side of the center aisle about halfway back.

DH and I are meeting at his office with the real estate agent and the potential buyer that backed out a week before settlement to see if there is any interest in moving forward with the sale of the building. Not holding my breath on this.

Me either!

Fingers crossed -

LOL, remember when the pandemic started we talked of daytime and nighttime pajamas? I still have those and wear them each daily. But now I will have daytime and bedtime books!

I definitely do too! (I call them “downstairs books and upstairs books”.) I often read heavier non-fiction stuff during the day, and light fiction at bedtime.

When DS was younger and I was driving him to after-school activities, I also always had a “car book” for waiting.

Good thing I looked before just reaching my hand into my clothespin pail. There were about a dozen cicada's in it. I dumped it on the ground, squished all of them, and put my pins back in the bag and put it in the greenhouse until I need it.

Sending sympathies again to everyone who has to deal with those!!

I’m definitely for keeping the thread going! I’ve been out of the habit of logging in before work lately, but I’ll try to give it a few more bumps.

Also, for anyone who has trouble finding it, you can alway click on “watched threads” instead of “new posts”.

Afternoon everyone.

Normal Tuesday for me almost. When I got to my daughters house this morning the 2 little guys were already awake and waiting. Ben was dressed and Wyatt needed to get dressed. Let the dog out and I don't know what got in to Ben but he was crazy. While we waited for Anthony to come out to the car Ben was still acting goofy. He decided he had to kiss the headrest of my car, repeatedly. Wyatt hurt his neck at baseball the other day but he is a tough guy. Went to school yesterday and even though it is still stiff and sore he went again today and wants to go to baseball tonight. I think that may be a big no from their mother.

Got my food shopping done already and ran into an old friend. His son and my grandson Jay played baseball together when they were Anthony's age. Sadly his son doesn't have much of a relationship with him because he was old school and believed in rules and consequences. His ex wife let their son do whatever he wanted with no consequences for his actions. I never realized how lucky we were with our kids and our grandkids. My son's one friend told me once they loved hanging out at our house because we were the cool parents who had rules. Now that they are all grown with kids they realize what we were doing for them.

My granddaughter called me Sunday night very upset because she feels that she disappointed me. She has struggled with Virtual learning all year and went from straight A's last year to she may not pass this year. That in and of itself should show that virtual does not work for everyone. I reassured her that if she is held back it is not her fault. She has ADD so she struggles with distractions at times, in school it is easier to focus. I also made sure that she could NEVER disappoint me. That I am proud of her and always will be and love her unconditionally. Then I made sure she knows I am NOT my mother. I am dreading telling my mother because she will go off. Crystal is worried about not getting in to college now since she is in 11th grade. I told her that the Community College is a great stepping stone and so much more economical. I also told her that sometimes taking a year off to work isn't a bad thing to get some money together and then go to college. She wants to go into the Veterinary field as either a Vet or a Vet Tech. She loves animals and has always leaned that way. So I told her about the girl who inducted me into the National Honor Society when I went back to school. She earned a full scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania: books, tuition and room and board, after following the advice I just gave Crystal. That made her feel so much better. These kids are under so much pressure. My advice was find something you enjoy and be happy.

I'm glad she reached out to me though. Well off to pick the boys up from school. Have a great afternoon.

I will look again, Carol and let you know! I did look briefly but didn't immediately spot you because I didn't know where to look. Prayers the sale works out!

LOL, I don't think any of us can compete with our friend Lynn's cleaning and all-around handy around the house skills! You are a dynamo, dear Lynn :)

Love that, PollyannaMom! "downstairs and upstairs books. This apartment is one small space but very cute idea! I also try to read more involved books during the day and save the fluff and fun for later in the evening or bedtime.

Such good advice, Taz Dev to find something you enjoy and be happy! Hugs to you and thanks for being such a great Grandma!

Happy Tuesday everyone. Thinking of doing Taco Tuesday for dinner tonight, we haven't them in awhile. Awhile for me anyway, I could eat tacos every day, all day if I could. :p

Dh and I went away to the beach for a long weekend with our best friends to celebrate our anniversary. It was a little cold but was soo nice...until Saturday night when the city we were in ended up being put on local emergency and lock down after a social media party go out of control...complete with emergency alerts on our phones at 11:30p. There were tons of police, 2 helicopters, fireworks going off and sooo many people out on the streets...we were safe watching all the craziness from our balcony but it was wild.

Not much else going on around here expect trying to get the house and yard ready for the celebration of life. My mom had so many people who loved and cared for her plus a very large family(she was #3 of 9), there are going to be A LOT of people here. It's stressing me out a little but we have a lot of help and everything is going to work out.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day. :grouphug:

Thanks flyingdumbo. I grew up with criticism and saw how my brother treated his kids, they are the same age as my kids. He forced them to major in what he wanted or he refused to pay their tuition. I told my kids not everyone should go to college and the world needs ditch diggers as much as they need rocket scientists. Life is to short to spend it in something that makes you miserable. And now as I write this I don't think I should be upset with my son for quitting his job. He hated working there the last couple years, so much that he told his son that he would disown him for following that career path. He wouldn't of course, but he didn't want Jay going that route. He is going to school to be a truck driver and probably will be much happier. My son was a Corrections Officer and he saw the inmates having more and more rights and those that were there to work being treated like they were the bad guys. It was taking it's toll on him. He said he hasn't had a migraine since he "retired" a month ago.

Thankfully I never voiced how I initially felt to my son. I think this helped me open my eyes a bit.
