That’s awesome!
Yeah he is headed to Lake Charles next week-
Operation Fireside? I’m not familiar w/ that but I’m going to go look into it! I tried to volunteer w/ the USo when youngest went into service but I never could get anyone to give me any info or get back to me after I contacted them.

Very cool- thanks for doing that!

Good morning.

Going to be a hot one today. It's already 87. I think the plan is to grocery shop in the air conditioned grocery store. We can keep the house pretty cool by closing the windows and shades then open it up tonight and let the cool air in. AC goes on when three days in a row above 90. We hate paying the electric bill.

DH and I actually went to church today, still masked and limited attendance. It was Pentecost and confirmation. Nice to see some friends I haven't seen in over a year.

Cicadas getting a little louder every day.

Good Morning Quackers 🐣

There's a loud, agitated dog somewhere nearby barking away. I hope its okay. What's weird is the same thing happened last weekend. This morning, we had 3 Sheriffs come to our door! They asked if we had any idea where the dog lived. We don't just that sometimes the barking seems much closer than others. We did let them know we heard this dog last week too and hope it's okay. Of course, we don't care for all the racket it's making either!

Chickapin Parterre, I have to agree with what Lynn said on the snakes! Glad you like them though :) They can keep far away from me please!

Lynn, love your Sunday Pooh picture. Glad you got to see two different folks yesterday, 9 year old boys certainly have an energy all their own! Hugs and prayer your back feels better!

Prayers, Bobbiwoz, your procedure goes smoothly and that your recovery is easy on you. Happy mail is definitely a good thing especially when puzzles are included. If you would like a postcard, PM me. Wow thank you and your DH for hosting Coast Guard recruits, that is really a neat thing to do.

Congratulations to your nephew, Easyas! I thank him for his service as well. Yay that you get to go to favorite auction. This upcoming truly is brighter than last years.

Glad you got to church today especially on Pentecost Carol. Hooray for seeing old friends, too.

Happy Sunday, friends.

Morning everyone. I have been MIA for a few days, just busy, but I am not going back to figure out what I missed.

Should be warm here today and my grandson has a ball game this afternoon. Going to make BBQ pork in the crockpot. Surprisingly it comes out really well and it keeps the house cool. I did break down and put the AC on. Downstairs is nice and cool and the bedrooms are nice and warm. The ductwork in the house is horrible.

I haven't seen or heard any Cicadas but I always thought they were interesting. My brothers tried to catch them when we were kids. They weren't that interesting.

@ Breezy_Carol My daughter went to a violin camp when she was very young at Ithaca College. I went up once and the area there was beautiful. Of course she hated it because my mom took her. She pushed violin on my kids and I didn't fight her on it. I finally let them quit but we did enjoy the trip to Ithaca.

@bobbiwoz I may be down your way in a couple weeks for a baseball game with my grandson. It will depend on whether my daughter takes him. They are going to Florida for a week the next day. A friend of theirs rented a house and invited them along. She is skipping Disney as of now to take the boys to some other attractions in the area and going to a beach down there for a day. I haven't been to Cape May since my aunt died. She lived down there and I have some issues because of what the housekeeper did. I am going to Wildwood for the first weekend in August. My grandson has a tournament on the Beach and I am celebrating getting "old" as my mother so nicely put it.

Church got the OK to open today and I didn't really feel like going. I'm just not ready and don't like the guidelines or being in a building that is old and gets really warm wearing a mask. I am having issues with my allergies and the mask does not help at all. I know the city relaxed the restrictions for those who are vaccinated but I just don't trust it yet. Plus we cannot have the fellowship hour afterwards. Maybe next week.

Have a great day everyone

Thought I would share my flowers with you. They are blooming a month late due to this crazy weather we've had so far.

This is what my Schubertii Allium looks like once all the blooms are off. Once it dries up it makes a splendid centerpiece.

This is my drought tolerant flower bed. The GKs planted wildflower seeds here last year. When they began growing, DH weed wacked them down not realizing what they were. To our delight they have come up this year. Some of the plants haven't bloomed yet so we're curious what they will be. The orange milkweed I planted this year.
577112

My Shasta daisies are doing well.
577113

My lilies are too! I have Easter Lilies behind these that haven't bloomed yet.
577114

My petunias really like this spot. See my rock collection?

Kirby - love your photos . I have tons of Shasta daisies in my backyard planted by a previous owner. I have replanted them by the mailbox and one of the 5 beds in my front yard. They won’t bloom till mid June in our area.

I have my teaching license, just working part time as a tutor now, but I’m ready to strangle my kids teachers !!! All this end of year assignments with little instruction on how to do the project. If we get it to work, I ‘lol post a photo later. I had wanted to pull weeds to get ready to plant flowers next week, but am needed to supervise school work and trips to Home Depot for supplies. To those watching the Golf tournament , it would be nice to see Phil when another one.

We got to 90 degrees today,,and the cicadas are 'singing' up a storm. The guy on the big hill up behind us has woods behind his house..and you can hear the loud sounds coming from up there! I didn't do anything outside today except feed the cats, replenish cool water for them, refill the birdbaths and water the flowers and greenhouse plants. Dinner was shredded bbq pork sandwiches on artisan buns, tater tots (had a craving for them) and fresh corn on the cob
We are watching the end of the PGA championship..Phil Mickelson is my favorite golfer and he's in the lead. If he wins, he will be the oldest golfer (at 50, lol) to win this championship
Then it's the 3 hour finale of American Idol (which I won't make it through more than 2 hours of). The final 3 are all really good..Willie, Grace, and Chayce..but I have been voting for Chayce all along, and I hope he wins!
Have a nice evening everyone..only going down to 70 here overnite , with rain expected, so the AC will be on all nite!

Hug, Taz Dev, I'm sorry your DD had a negative violin experience. I played (was never any good) flute for several years growing up and had some not so positive (for a very different reason) experiences as well. No kid should ever feel disregarded especially when it comes to something like learning an instrument which ought to be fun. I have been asked by several friends whether I will be going to church on June 6th when we reopen. My "no" answer seems to surprise some. I won't be going back to church until things have been normal for at least a couple months! I understand you're not feeling comfortable jumping into going immediately.

I love your flowers, Kirby! Especially the petunias and lilies, so pretty! Thank you for sharing with us 🌺

Hug to you as well, Sparkle. I think teaching and being a student has simply been plain frustrating for all over the last year+ Thank you so much for being a teacher and making a difference to so many kids. I'm sorry your kids teachers aren't providing enough clarity on assignments, you certainly don't need that!

I hope you enjoyed your dinner, Lynn! I used to love tater tots! YEARS ago as in back in the late 80's and 890's Carl's, Jr had such tasty taters. I hope Phil wins for both you and Sparkle ⛳

Thankfully the dog is quiet! It very briefly started up again a couple hours ago but that was it. Hopefully this does not become a regular weekend thing! Proud of my elderly friend Sue for taking so much care and time to (I walked her through the process over the phone) to keep going until it worked for sending me a story for the book project I'm working on. She's an amazing lady and so sharp!

It's 3:40pm now and already feels timeless and later! I still need to watch worship.

That brings back fond memories of being a little kid. We'd be sent to bed and the adults would settle into some heated bridge games! I remember us kids sneaking out to look thru the upstairs balcony rails to see what all the fuss going on was about!
Your memories bring back some for me. When I was a child we would travel and visit each of my mom's three sisters over a period of two weeks. At my aunt Bobbie's house the adults and teenage cousins would play some hard core Monopoly for hours. Us younger cousins were basically left on our own and were not encouraged to hang around the living room where they played. We didn't mind, we did want we wanted and didn't get into too much mischief.

Last evening DH and I went to a Murder Mystery dinner right here in Cape May. The other two couples at our table were from out of town, and are frequent visitors to Cape May. Talking to them brought home to me just how lucky we are to live here!

Wednesday is my procedure to fix a “ woman’s “ problem. I am taking things very slowly as my back started hurting last week, and it is feeling better. I do not want to postpone the procedure.
DH and I went to a western Murder Mystery dinner a couple of years ago with our church empty nester group. It was fun to watch the actors. I made sure I didn't look any of them in the eye so they wouldn't call on me.

Prayers for your "fix" and that your back gets better soon.

My nephew graduated from Coast Guard basic on Friday up your way! We haven't in a while, but used to take the ferry once a year over - I'll have to look into that again.
Congratulations to your nephew!

DD and I took the GKs to Sunday School this morning. We wore our mask in the hallways as requested, some people didn't though. This was our first time back to class in over a year. The man who taught my old SS class is not teaching it anymore so I'm looking for a new class. I tried one out today. The study is on Ezra and Nehemiah and how it relates today or that's what I understand it's about. I like the teacher so I just may stick it out in there. We didn't stay for the church service. There is children's church during the sermon time but there is nothing for 2 year olds so they have put aside a play room for that age and a parent has to stay with them. I don't have a problem with that but if Lil Joe were to find out that his sister was playing with toys, he would have a fit to stay with her instead of going to Children's Church. So until they both move up at the end of August we will just go to SS. I'm comfortable with that though. It was so good to see people but it was a little unsettling to be around that many people at one time.

My sister came over yesterday and we went through the rest of mama's things, mostly paperwork. We found a bunch of letters that her sisters had written her, some were hilarious and I put them aside to share with their children. We also found a letter that our mom had written back in 2009 stating that there was something wrong with her, she didn't know what. It gave instructions on how to take care of things should she die. We don't know what she was talking about but I think it was when she was having neck problems, she found out later that she had degenerative disc disease. We also found letters that we had written our parents. Those were really fun to read! You know, we have lost the art of letter writing.

My sister stayed till 4:00, we were just talking at that point and I was starving so DH and I went out to dinner at Super Shack for some catfish. We have always gotten good food there before but my catfish tasted like mud. DH said his was fine. And I ordered onion rings, had been looking forward to them, they were awful, old and overcooked. I didn't bring it to their attention though, maybe I should have but at least the shrimp were good.

This afternoon, DH and I went to Kohls and Best Buy. Both stores had a sign up that fully vaccinated people were welcome not to wear their mask. We were on the lookout for some jeans for DH. He wears 34X34 and they are the hardest size to find around here. I picked up a pair of shoes and a blouse, DH got a couple pair of jeans and a belt. At Best Buy I was looking for a photograph scanner. The only one they had was $600! I think I will pass on that!

DH cooked ribs and baked potatoes for dinner. I had the hard job of heating up some Ranch Style Beans and clean up. Such a hard job! :rotfl2:

Good morning all. We were at the bottom of page 1. Even Flying Dumbo didn't check in late like usual to bump us up! It just started raining here, and it's very muggy out. Temp is 68 but says our high will be 67. Lots cooler than the weekend was, but the humidity and rain will make it feel very sticky. Didn't stop a ton more cicada's from emerging overnite. The trees and bushes are covered with them hanging on them

I made it halfway through Idol finale before going to bed, woke at 10:45 and turned the tv on just in time to see Chayce win it! Hooray! He was my pick from the audition to the finale, even though 'growly voices' don't usually do it for me. All 3 of them should end up with recording contracts, their voices are amazing!

No plans for the day , maybe clean the bathrooms and call it a day, lol

Have a nice morning!!!

Good morning all.
I bought so many trees & shrubs that it took me two trips to bring it all home yesterday. I didn't even count them all, as I lost track during the auction! I'll be busy next weekend after all I guess! Gotta get a piece of equipment and the auger lined up and brought out to the farm. Already lined up some guys we have over to do a bit of work now and again to come over and help me get them planted.

Welp the snapping turtle husband trapped escaped twice out of his barrel, once about 10 minutes after he put it in there, and then again about 15 minutes later we noticed the lid was off and looked out in the field behind the house and there he was, slowly making his way down to the creek...at that point we figured he deserved to be on his way and would no longer be the featured player in a future turtle stew! We watched him lumber thru the field for a while until my husband went and picked him up and put him back in the creek.

Very cool and windy here today, overcast w/ a drizzle on and off this AM. I opened up the house to let the air thru.

Dinner this evening will I think be leftovers. I've got a nail appt. later this afternoon, and I'm curious to see if I'll need a mask, as part of my unofficial survey of places I usually go that don't require them for vaccinated folks. Very Scientific! ha ha... was at a Food Lion grocery store yesterday and no masks needed for vaccinated customers OR vaccinated employees, who if they care to show their vaccine card do not have to wear them. That info came from my BIL who is a manager for the Company.

Here I am! I'm sorry for not bumping us up last night! I'll try to keep a better eye out today :)

Happy last full week of May to all of you dear Quackers 🐥

Thank God and Hooray for progress out of this plague! I am so hopeful June will continue to bring us closer to the end of the pandemic with brighter days for all.

QOTD: Have any of you been having dreams lately that you remember in the morning?

Not daily by any means but maybe once a week or so, usually after I have gotten up to use the restroom and then head back to bed for a couple last hours of sleep, I seem to have a bit more clearer dreams that I do remember (at least some of) upon waking. Lol, lately some of them have had to do with being able to be back out in a store! God's extra way of putting that hope into my heart :) I've had a couple dreams where I'm at Target and another at CVS, all very brief yet clear that I am welcome and safe there. No masks needed by anyone. How I pray! Early yesterday morning, I had a Superman dream, lol! I somehow "met" Superman (as Clark Kent) twice. In one instance he worked as an elementary school teacher and in the other I think either at a restaurant or car dealership (I honestly don't remember). I remember the second time being surprised of his new position and him very clearly (not in words) knowing he knew I knew somehow of his secret identity and to please not reveal it. Hope this brings each of you a morning smile!

Good afternoon.

25 degrees cooler than yesterday. I got up and put shorts on later to change to jeans. And we’ve had some nice showers, good for the garden.

We went out for a few errands this morning, including going to the new library in the next town. It is so nice and has so much for little kids. Can’t wait to take the grands there.

QOTD: Have any of you been having dreams lately that you remember in the morning?
I have been having very vivid dream. Some are very scary. I talk and scream out in my sleep, waking DH who then wakes me. I do remember some in the morning. Last night part of my dream included driving with someone, DD maybe, and I had 2 flat tires. That wasn’t the scary one. Two other nights recently I was being chased. Then last night we watched The Woman in the Window on Netflix; not a good choice for nightmares.

Well, I do dream but don't really recall much in the morning. Mostly I'm left with a feeling of aggravation because I was sure I'd remember whatever odd ball dream I had and be able to relate it to my husband in the morning - at least that is what I thought in the middle of the night! But I'm more often than not left saying "I had this weird dream...but I can't remember it!"
Luckily I'm not plagued by bad dreams to often, at least not that I can recall.

Same here,,some odd dreams now and then, but never remember them in the morning

Still dumping down the rain, temp is 65. Like @Breezy_Carol, I changed out of shorts and into sweat pants, and I turned the ac off and opened the windows. I was too cold. Cleaned both bathrooms and washed the floors in them, then watched all of my shows. Trying to catch up as most shows are season and/or series finale's this week.
Dinner is going to be ham, scalloped potatoes, corn on the cob and maybe a small salad
Have a nice afternoon/evening everyone
