That brings back fond memories of being a little kid. We'd be sent to bed and the adults would settle into some heated bridge games! I remember us kids sneaking out to look thru the upstairs balcony rails to see what all the fuss going on was about!
Your memories bring back some for me. When I was a child we would travel and visit each of my mom's three sisters over a period of two weeks. At my aunt Bobbie's house the adults and teenage cousins would play some hard core Monopoly for hours. Us younger cousins were basically left on our own and were not encouraged to hang around the living room where they played. We didn't mind, we did want we wanted and didn't get into too much mischief.
Last evening DH and I went to a Murder Mystery dinner right here in Cape May. The other two couples at our table were from out of town, and are frequent visitors to Cape May. Talking to them brought home to me just how lucky we are to live here!
Wednesday is my procedure to fix a “ woman’s “ problem. I am taking things very slowly as my back started hurting last week, and it is feeling better. I do not want to postpone the procedure.
DH and I went to a western Murder Mystery dinner a couple of years ago with our church empty nester group. It was fun to watch the actors. I made sure I didn't look any of them in the eye so they wouldn't call on me.
Prayers for your "fix" and that your back gets better soon.
My nephew graduated from Coast Guard basic on Friday up your way! We haven't in a while, but used to take the ferry once a year over - I'll have to look into that again.
Congratulations to your nephew!
DD and I took the GKs to Sunday School this morning. We wore our mask in the hallways as requested, some people didn't though. This was our first time back to class in over a year. The man who taught my old SS class is not teaching it anymore so I'm looking for a new class. I tried one out today. The study is on Ezra and Nehemiah and how it relates today or that's what I understand it's about. I like the teacher so I just may stick it out in there. We didn't stay for the church service. There is children's church during the sermon time but there is nothing for 2 year olds so they have put aside a play room for that age and a parent has to stay with them. I don't have a problem with that but if Lil Joe were to find out that his sister was playing with toys, he would have a fit to stay with her instead of going to Children's Church. So until they both move up at the end of August we will just go to SS. I'm comfortable with that though. It was so good to see people but it was a little unsettling to be around that many people at one time.
My sister came over yesterday and we went through the rest of mama's things, mostly paperwork. We found a bunch of letters that her sisters had written her, some were hilarious and I put them aside to share with their children. We also found a letter that our mom had written back in 2009 stating that there was something wrong with her, she didn't know what. It gave instructions on how to take care of things should she die. We don't know what she was talking about but I think it was when she was having neck problems, she found out later that she had degenerative disc disease. We also found letters that we had written our parents. Those were really fun to read! You know, we have lost the art of letter writing.
My sister stayed till 4:00, we were just talking at that point and I was starving so DH and I went out to dinner at Super Shack for some catfish. We have always gotten good food there before but my catfish tasted like mud. DH said his was fine. And I ordered onion rings, had been looking forward to them, they were awful, old and overcooked. I didn't bring it to their attention though, maybe I should have but at least the shrimp were good.
This afternoon, DH and I went to Kohls and
Best Buy. Both stores had a sign up that fully vaccinated people were welcome not to wear their mask. We were on the lookout for some jeans for DH. He wears 34X34 and they are the hardest size to find around here. I picked up a pair of shoes and a blouse, DH got a couple pair of jeans and a belt. At Best Buy I was looking for a photograph scanner. The only one they had was $600!

I think I will pass on that!
DH cooked ribs and baked potatoes for dinner. I had the hard job of heating up some Ranch Style Beans and clean up. Such a hard job!
